Finally! - 10th July, 2016
You have absolutely no idea how great it feels. How amazing it feels to be able to say “I did it!” I finally put Rowan MacDonough down for the count, and gave her that first legit defeat in her IWF career, probably her career full stop. It was hard, incredibly so, and I’m not going to lie….she scared the crap out of me. She got in my head, and made me see things, made me lose sleep…
She got to me.
Yet here I stand, proof that monsters don’t always win. Proof that there are heroes we can believe in, and when I held that Championship up high in the air, and you guys let me know exactly what it meant to you all? It melted my heart. It let me know that those sleepless nights? Those nightmares? Those tremors and long hard training sessions?
They were all worth it.
Since then Kathy Conway herself stepped into the ring with Rowan and managed to defeat her too. I’m not trying to take credit, or gloat, but I strongly believe that Rowan’s defence were crushed once that first defeat came, and now the “Queen” herself has a victory over her. I’m proud of her, and I’m glad to see her back in the ring. I look up to Kathy in a lot of ways, and I’ll never forget what she did for me to get me here and the chances she gave me to do just that. I know now, that being a Diamond is more than just showing up and wrestling. You are a role model for hundreds of thousands of children around the world, and if I’ve helped even just one of them realise their inner potential? Or helped them stand up to a bully?
Then I’m proud of what I’ve achieved.
{We open on the poolside of some pretty nice looking hotel. Shea O’Hara can be seen laying on a sun lounger, soaking up the sun when a shadow creeps over her.}
Shea: You gonna block my sun all day William?
{She didn’t even turn to see who it was, she just guessed by the shape of his shadow that it was him, but it was indeed Will Fenell.}
Will: I was thinkin’ you might need some sun lotion. You how you pale ass people be burnin’ all the time.
{Now she turns to look at him, lowering her sunglasses to glare at him. He smirks and she throws the sun lotion at him, which he catches with ease. He sits down at the side of her lounger and opens up the lotion, preparing to rub it on her.}
Shea: And don’t be writing or drawing anything funny this time!
{Will was halfway through drawing a pair of back boobs, before he stops and chuckles….then rubs the rest of the lotion over her back. After a few seconds Shea sits up, looking as stunning as you’d expect poolside. Will, sits there wearing only his shorts and a pair of flip flops and a broad smile on his face.}
Shea: Listen Will, I just wanted to say thank you for staying with me on tour, even when you weren’t cleared to wrestle. I know I’ve been spending a lot of time with the girls as of late, but it really means a lot to have you to come home to.
{She leans in to hug him, but he stop her for a second, a serious look on his face.}
Will: Babe….I will always be there for you, ya know that right? You don’t gotta thank me for doing what was right. What kinda tool would leave his girlfriend while she was injured?
{Shea cocks an eyebrow, and then her head as if she was about to answer, but Will isn’t done talking.}
Will: You bring out a better side of me, an’ I like bein’ that dude, ya know?
Shea: I understand. I feel more like a complete person when I’m with you.
Will: Woah, woah, woah…..did you just pull a “you complete me” line?
Shea: No! Shut up!
{The two have a pretend slap fight as Will embarrasses her, before she stops and just leans in, grabbing him in a hug and resting her head on his chest.}
Shea: I’m falling really hard for you William, I hope you know that.
{Will looks down at her, an ever so slight moment of hesitation on his face before he places his arms around her, and smiles.}
Will: We’ll be just fine, long as you stop callin’ me “William” aight?
{Shea looks up at him, with a cheeky grin on her face. Then, almost out of nowhere she rises to her feet, still with her arms around Will and pushes him backwards and all but spears him into the pool! The small group of people around clap and cheer, as Shea and Will tread water.}
Will: Now dat was jus’ cold!
Shea: Aww come on, you know you love seeing me in the pool!
Will: Yeah, but dat don’t mean I gotta be in here too!
{He splashes her with water and the too of them begin to laugh out loud as they turn it into a makeshift water fight. We fade away on the sight of Will diving under the water and lifting Shea high into the air, before dropping her into the water as she screams with joy.}

Rumours can cause a lot if drama, a lot of distress, and really just stir shit up. However, there are certain people that when you hear a rumour? You kinda take a second to think about it, before realising - it’s probably true. We all know them, we’ve grown up with them, went to school with them. People who just can’t stay out of the headlines, people who just really want to be the center of attention.
People like the Dalmons.
I’ve had to watch as people just like Lizzy and Landon paraded around as if their wealth meant that they were so much better than everybody else. Using their money to try and control people, to almost make them dance like puppets. They never care who they’re upsetting, or who they’re ruining when they roll through town and treat people like dirt. I saw it enough with my Papa…..when those men tried to buy out his farm and he wouldn’t let them? They did everything they could to ruin him. They tried to pay people to go elsewhere, they lowered the prices of alternate stock, then they paid people to just trash the farm….in the end Papa had to sell…
That’s the kind of people the Dalmons are.
We mean nothing to them, because they live in a different world. They look down on us the way we would look down on a nest of ants. We’re pawns that they can manoeuvre around and put exactly where they want so that they can play their sick games, but you know what? I’m tired of it! I’m sick of people thinking they can just throw their weight around because they have money behind them, preying on the poor, and taking advantage of those without! It’s disgusting, and you know what? I think it’s about time someone really put Lizzy Dalmon in her place!
That someone is going to be me!
I’ve started to gain a bit of a reputation for taking bullies down, what with Eternity and Rowan - both very different individuals, but both people who preyed on the weaknesses of others. In esence, bullies - just like you Lizzy Dalmon. You’ve used your influence to get a contract with IWF in the first place, while the rest of us? We had to train as hard as we possibly could, harder than most of the men did - just to stand out! We had to work twice as hard as everyone else just to get a chance to get to the performance center and maybe, just maybe, get signed to a developmental deal…..but not you, right?
You swanned in like you owned the place.
The main difference between us Lizzy? Is how we approach failure. Yeah, I’m not infallible, and I’ve never claimed to be. My first run in IWF was meteoric, but met with an absolutely embarrssing end. I became the shortest reigning Shield Maiden and when I tried to do something worthwhile, I had my arm broken and was sent packing. Now me? I owned up to my failures, I accepted them, got back up, dusted myself off, and went right back to work. Yet you? You’d be more likely to point the finger, blame someone else for your mistakes, and probably fire them too….take away their livelihood….you know what, on second thoughts?
I’m glad you never came through developmental.
I reckon if you did, you’d blame them for your failures and try to have people like Adam, Gib, and Emma fired. Truth is, you don’t belong here Lizzy, and deep down you know that. If this rumour really is true, and you or your brother BOUGHT this title shot? Then you’re as stupid as you are rich. You see, I’m a fighting champion, and I don’t back down from a challenge, I haven’t since day one, and it’s why I am the way I am. I’ve taken on the biggest, baddest, and best the IWF has to offer, and I’m really sorry to break this to you Lizzy, but your name doesn’t belong amongst them. Thing is though Lizzy, if you beat me? If you defy the odds and actually become the Shield Maiden?
You’ll prove everyone wrong.
The question I pose to you Lizzy, is can you? Can you beat me, one on one, without having to cheat your way through a match the way you’ve cheated your way through life? I don’t see it happening….but I’m happy to give people the benefit of the doubt. All I can tell you, is you’re going to have to bring your A Game if you want to take this championship away from me. You’re going to have to step up like you’ve never done in your life, and really put the work, and effort in, otherwise? You’ll fall at my feet, like all the other bullies who’ve crossed my path…..because I’m the Shield Maiden.
And I have a reputation to uphold.
