Cable Arcane walks slowly down the hall of his home for the evening, some random hotel on the out skirts of town. He shifts his bag on his shoulder and unlocks the door to his room. Cable throws it open and walks through to see Amber, dressed slightly less seductively than last time he walked in on her in his hotel room, she was seated on his bed. He drops his bag and closes the door, sighing in the process.
”Evening Amber…”
”Why don’t you ever look happy to see me?”
Cable shoots her a surprised look.
”Are you really asking me that question?”
She pops off the bed and gets within inches of his face.
”Yes! Cable, I’ve been throwing myself at you for weeks! Weeks! Look at me, you think I couldn’t get any man I want!? But here I am, with you, what do you want from me? I offered you help with your career, with fining your parents, what else do you need?”
He looks away, a little ashamed.
”I… I need to know I can trust you…”
She reaches up and touches the side of his face.
”I know Angel lied to you about being your brother but I’m not lying to you about how I feel about us. How do I prove myself to you, Cable?”
Her hand continues to gently rub the side of his face as her other hand works it’s way around his back.
”I… I don’t know…"
She moves in closer to him, millimeters separate their lips.
”I wish…”
Her other hand pulls him closer.
”Shhhh.”
Their lips just touch and for a brief moment the entire world melts away, that is until…
”Ahem.”
They both pull away from each other to see Cable’s masked partner, Gjenrei, standing in the open door.
”You left the door unlocked.”
”Maybe you should knock first next time.”
”And maybe you should see yourself out, Cable and I have a match to discuss.”
Amber looks up to Cable and you could tell as their eyes met that they both wished Gjenrei hasn’t walked in on them. Amber half smiles before walking away, she stops when she reaches Gjenrei and whispers something in his ear, he glares coldly at her as she smiles and leaves, closing the door behind her.
”What was that about?”
”Nothing, just letting me know what I walked in on, sorry to you’re your fun.”
Cable doesn’t quite believe that response or understand the undertone of resentment but he doesn’t press the issue either. Fade to black…
A lot of people don’t know this…
But Jake Keeton and I are very familiar with each other…
It wasn’t all that long ago that we rode together in a little group called SCUM. It wasn’t that long ago that we were like minded individuals just looking to stake our claim in a new born promotion. Not much has really changed from then until now…
Jake is still fighting with everything he has to hold onto to everything he’s earned and I’m still fighting to make my name in this business. However our methods of getting what it is we are looking for very ever so slightly. I turned my back on the brutal and vicious nature of our days in SCUM and embraced a certain ethical code of honor. More like a promise to myself that I will earn every single thing I obtain in this promotion through blood, sweat and tears…
I refuse to take the easy road…
You on the other hand are still clinging to what made you a house hold name in the first place, the very essence of your being that made you a legend in this business. Your no holds barred attitude. It’s served you well Jake…
I’m not here to judge. I’m not here to condemn you for your methods. I’m here to warn you Jake. While I understand your need to find success in IWF I cannot allow that success to be at the cost of my own. Gjenrei and I were among the first tag teams to sign our names on the dotted line. We are one of the last real tag teams left…
While you and Alex have done quite well for yourselves, neither of you truly wish to stand in each others corner and fight InFamous for the gold. Those belts are nearly meaningless to you, save for the prestige that comes with them. I appreciate your need to succeed, your drive to compete at the highest level you can but at the end of the day you and Alex Jones are a combustible elementt just waiting to explode and your would be reign over our division would do nothing but harm it…
Simply put, we cannot allow you to succeed…
I know playing fair isn’t something you’re capable of doing Jake and I’m ok with that. We are prepared for it, trust me. But you know, perhaps better than anyone I’ve come across in IWF thus far what I am capable when I am inside that ring. You know first hand the lengths I can and have gone to in the past to score a victory. You’ve seen the blood I was once willing to shed and while I have turned my back on the past to embrace a brighter future…
That doesn’t give you free reign to push me…
I promise you Jake, if you push me, I will push back. Eye for an eye. That’s my warning to you, Jake. We’ve been friends in the past and I’m willing to support you in the future but I promise you that you will have to earn the shot at InFamous over our dead bodies…
Don’t make us earn it over yours.
I don’t really know you, Alex Jones…
That being said, your road to redemption is inspiring. It mirrors my own journey toward being a better person than who I was but the real question is, do we have what it takes to walk the road ahead? Being a good man isn’t easy, Alex, not in this business and someone as stories as yourself has to know that. Being a good man won’t always be enough to score you a win over someone like Jake Keeton, someone who is prepared to do whatever it takes to secure another win. Being a good man, doing the right thing will not always garner you the love and respect of the crowd, let alone the boys in the back…
It’s a hard road…
A road paved with heart ache and sorrow. A road few men in this business can walk down without being burned. We’ve seen the rise and fall of Andrew Jacobsen. We’ve all watched with baited breathe as Joe Everyman teetered on the edge of madness. Being a good man takes more than a chipper attitude and a little respect toward your opponents…
It takes heart…
I’m not here to say whether or not you have what it takes, that’s on you to prove it to us. I’m here to tell you who I am…
Cable Arcane…
A man whose only goal at this point and time is to carry the tag team titles proudly with my partner, Gjenrei. Not because those titles will define us and who we are but because we will define those titles and what it means to be a true team. I respect who are, what your trying to do but you and Jake are not a team. Fate has brought you together and destiny will rip you apart…
I know there is a certain amount of ego involved in this match for both of you, a need to win something gold and shiny to prove your worth since both of you have stumbled pretty hard since arriving. But do not let your ego blind you to the fact that you are facing the best tag team in IWF. There isn’t a team Gjnerei and I cannot defeat when put before us and we’ve proven that over the course of the last couple of weeks…
Outside of the ladder match to determine the first champions we are undefeated. In singles competition our records are almost spotless. Gjenrei and I are without a doubt two of the top wrestlers in this company. And two of the most over looked…
What it comes down to is this, Alex, you may very well be one of the most deserving wrestlers in all of IWF, you may one day be the face of this company. But today you are facing two of the hungriest dogs in the yard. We’ve sat back and we’ve watched as InFamous has run wild over the tag team division. We’ve sat back and watched as men like Criminal Intent have gotten their fair shot. We’ve watched as everyone else has had their chances handed to them…
We’re done watching…
I fought my way into the semi finals of the Heir to the Throne. Gjenrei fought his way through almost everyone in the cruiser weight division. Now we are back together and we are not going to let anyone come between us and what we will make ours. This division, the tag team division, was not meant for men like them, egos like theirs or yours…
You aren’t built to be in a tag team, to rely on another man as your partner and your borther. No one standing in this division save for us knows what it means to be a part of a real team and have that team be your family. HonorBound is more than two men fighting to become world champions, more than the glory of victory or the sorrow of defeat, we are brothers…
Brothers in arms…
Brothers through blood…
We are brothers inside that ring fighting for each other. For our mutual honor.
Respect. Pride. Our combined legacy means more to us than our individual one. We don’t care how the world views Cable Arcane and Gjenrei when it’s all said and done, what we care about is that HonorBound reintroduced a form of wrestling that hasn’t been observed since it’s incarnation…
What we care about is the legacy this team leaves behind on this divison…
HonorBound will usher in change to IWF, change to tag team wrestling, change to the very meaning of the word Honor. Together we are going to show you, Alex Jones, you, Jake Keeton, what it means to be more than who you are. What it means to fight for more than you ever will be. What it means to truly live by the sword…
This more than a simple match on our quest to become the greatest tag team in the world, this is the end of the first chapter of HonorBound. With this match, this victory our rise to the top will nearly be complete. After that there will be one more team, one more goal and then the world will know who we are. They will know to respect us and finally this company will have an ideal to strive toward…
Most men have forgotten what it means to fight with honor, for honor, to truly respect the men across from you. This roster festers and rots with the egos of over paid, over hyped blasts from another promotions past. With our rise begins a new chapter in the history of professional wrestling, a new age, an age where there is no room for delinquents and miscreants. An age where only those with honor will have what it takes to survive among the best the wrestling world has to offer…
The old guard is going to fall and with it will be the rise of HonorBound…
Change is inevitable…
Stand in it’s way or ours and we shall have No Mercy.
