And the team of Jake Keeton and Alex Jones win again. We’re one more win away from stepping into the ring with InFamous for the IWF Tag Team Championships and I’m sure Alex is going to whine about how we got to this point. Yeah I used a loaded elbow pad, that’s no secret anymore to anyone but the referees and as long as they don’t catch me I’m gonna keep doing it.
Now before you go and tell the world in your sugar coated way how we don’t need it to win Alex, I’ll go ahead and say you might very well be right. Chances are we would have beaten Deathtrain and Jackhammer without it, there’s a slightly smaller chance we would have beaten Seth Evans and Chris Kane but we probably would have. Probably and chances are things I can’t risk at this point, I want it to be certain that our opponents have no chance. I’ll venture to say that you’re the most complete wrestler I’ve ever teamed with, and I’ve carried some gigantic turds to tag team gold so I’m sure I can stand beside you and win those titles as long as you can get over how I get it done.
This week we face the team of HonorBound, Cable Arcane and Gjenrei. Two very formidable opponents individually but together they’ve looked nearly flawless. Those flaws will be exposed this week though when HonorBound steps into the ring with two men who as individuals have a list of accolades that can’t be rivaled by many in this industry. The same two men who, although we don’t exactly see eye to eye, have shown remarkable teamwork and great chemistry in the ring together in a very short amount of time. This is about being a team and while HonorBound may be the more seasoned team, Alex and I are better than Gjenrei and Cable.
Speaking of Mr. Arcane…
Long time no speak Cable, burned any gyms down lately? I'll be honest I had no intentions of bringing up our past other than to say that we knew each other but since you went ahead and mentioned it let's get a few of the facts straight shall we? You were this raw and incredibly talented former MMA star trying to break into the wrestling business. You were angry and hated everything this business stood for. I was the World Champion and needed allies so I made an offer to you which you accepted without hesitation. We ran roughshod over everyone in our way, eventually some animosity between myself and the other guy in our little three man group led to us going our separate ways but you and I remained on good terms.
I have to admit though that I purposely began distancing myself from you because you were, what’s a nice way to say it… evil. I may have done some bad things that I’m not proud of and I’m sure I’ll do a lot more things that are less than honorable but there is no evil in my heart. I do things with purpose, back when we ran together you hurt people because you could. Now you’re the one who is all about honor and this supposed brotherhood with Gjenrei? I’m not buying the bullshit you’re selling because I know you Cable, and I knew you before anyone here did. You’d stab him in the back in a heartbeat if it benefited you. You say not much has changed since we stood side by side less than a year ago, and I agree. I’m still the same guy I was then and while you claim to be following some code of honor, if it came right down to it so are you. A man doesn’t do the horrible things you’ve done in your short time in this business and suddenly turn over a new leaf.
Whether you’re good or evil, right or wrong makes no difference when it comes right down to it though. What matters is that you’ve got talent and skills which lead you to nearly winning the Imperial Championship. You’re good and you’ve got big things to look forward to, but facing InFamous at Legacy alongside your masked “brother” ain’t one of them Cable. While you’re struggling with who you are and trying to fight the demons of your past, I know who I am and that’s the best wrestler alive.
I don’t like guys that wear masks and feel that it gives them an unfair advantage almost as much as my trusty elbow pad gives me. I’m a very cerebral wrestler, constantly thinking and being able to see my opponents face and judge his facial expression is something I rely on. The other half of HonorBound, Gjenrei is proud to hide his face. That mask doesn’t represent honor it represents a coward who wouldn’t be nearly as good without it. I don’t give two shits who you are or who you were Gjenrei, but be warned if I can get that mask off you I’m going to.
I feel like you’ve disregarded me in a way that some people have you in recent weeks Gjenrei. Just like it came back to bite them I promise your words may have focused more on my partner but your brain better be focused on me or I’m gonna cause it to seep out the holes in your mask. You speak in riddles to show your intelligence and to confuse and frustrate those who aren’t as smart as you, which honestly is probably a lot of people in this business. I feel like despite my rather rough exterior and colorful language I’m a pretty intelligent guy myself, but I don’t need to talk in circles to get my point across Gjenrei. In fact I only need five words, I’m gonna kick your ass.
Everyone doubts that Alex and I can continue to work together but as long as he can overlook my methods of getting things done then we will be facing InFamous next week, that’s a promise.
We open to a lazy Saturday afternoon at the Keeton household. Jake looks rather causal, almost as if he’d just woken up as he sits on the couch in front of the TV wearing only a pair of orange Nike basketball shorts. His long dark hair is very out of place, also an indication that he’d just crawled out of bed. Suddenly the front door opens and Jake quickly removes his hand from the front of his shorts where he had been scratching his balls. Kassie dressed in pink hospital scrubs walks through to door.
Kassie: Were you doing what I think you were doing?
Jake: I was scratching my balls.
She nods her head and sighs in relief.
Jake: You think I was beating off?
Kassie: Yeah. Did you just wake up?
Jake yawns and stretches.
Jake: Yep, I decided to be lazy today. I hope you don’t mind.
Kassie: Not at all, you’re always on the go. It’s good to just sit around and do nothing every now and then. That’s what I plan on doing as soon we have a talk.
Jake: Ok what about?
She takes a piece of paper from it then puts her purse down and walks over and sits down in a chair across from him.
Kassie: Well I was checking the mail just now and just out of curiosity I opened our bank statement to see if that jewelry I bought online had come out of our account and I noticed that you’ve written checks to Julius King totaling nearly $5000 over the last month. What’s going on Jake?
Jake thinks fast to try and come up with a story.
Jake: Yeah I didn’t want to tell you about that because he’d be really embarrassed if he knew I told anyone but, baby when I ran into Jules out in LA he was homeless. It was sick some of the things he was offering to do for strangers for the right price. I’ve been helping him get back on his feet.
Kassie smiles approvingly.
Kassie: I thought it might have been something shady but I should have known better. I married such a wonderful man who’s a good friend.
She glances down at the statement before continuing to speak.
Kassie: Are we going to be ok? That’s a pretty big chunk of money. I can send my jewelry back if we can’t afford it.
Jake: No way, you keep your stuff. We’ll be fine I got a big bonus coming up.
Kassie: Ok baby I’m going to run upstairs and get out of these scrubs, you care to join me?
Jake: Hell yeah.
She gets up and heads up the stairs with Jake following behind her and trying to hide the guilt on his face behind a smile as the scene fades.
