“If the Universe came to an end every time there was some uncertainty about what had happened in it, it would never have got beyond the first picosecond. And many of course don't. It's like a human body, you see. A few cuts and bruises here and there don't hurt it. Not even major surgery if it's done properly. Paradoxes are just the scar tissue. Time and space heal themselves up around them and people simply remember a version of events which makes as much sense as they require it to make.”
Thaddeus walked up and down the ledge, examining the rifle even as Bertie looked behind them and spoke with a hint of concern.
“I hope you have one more trick up your sleeve toff, they aren’t stopping, you went and annoyed them proper.”
Thaddeus was picking apart the rifle as he sat down, ,the roar of engine behind them as he gestured Bertie to sit next to him even as he said.
“We have to go back Albert, I’ve been spending all my efforts transfiguring the rifle and it’s power source into a stable portal but I am unsure of the coordinates …Are you prepared to take that risk again?”
Bertie looked behind him as the sounds increased and seized the rifle form Thaddeus hands to aim it and gave a frustrated growl.
“Bloody flair for the dramatic you have Toff, I’ll settle for the warm confines of anywhere bloody else.”
Thaddeus got up and followed behind, even as he grabbed the rifle again turning a few knobs and dials as he pulled the wiring from the top to throw it behind them, a s the explosion claimed the ledge and they are thrown further down a twisting, winding path.
When Thaddeus opened his eyes the pair found themselves stood in a stone hall where they were ace with a figure they hadn’t expected to see.
Dressed in a white suit meticulously groomed and smiling as he held a cane and and extended hand.
Thaddeus Bancroft.
Bertie looked between the two even as Thaddeus grew weary and then the two shook hands as White Thaddeus spoke first.
“You finally arrived Captain, now the council awaits.”
The captain smirks a bit and spoke gently even as he stands firm and said quietly.
“Actually Admiral, I can make this right, I have the co-odinates to the doppelganger and Intend to face him off in personal combat to bring him to trial for violation of constant 72.”
The Admiral pauses and raises a brow even as Bertie is still trying to figure out what is going on.
“By who’s authority Captain?”
Thaddeus grinned and stood little straighter and affixed his tie even as he brushed off his shoulder.
“Clearance protocol Sigma-Sigma 7 …You’re talking to the original Admiral, I’m the first.”
The Admiral looked sceptical even as he chuckles
“A lot of us could say that Captain, you may have to provide pr..”
The captain pulled out a small, battered pocket watch and checked he time casually even as Bertie finally asked.
“What the bloody hell is going on?! Why are there two of you?!”
The Admiral blinked and shook his head starting to walk away even as Thaddeus continues with a smirk over his shoulder.
“My dearest Albert, there are much more than two of me, I’d explain but I feel it is rather best to get dressed and get home before the Council of Bancroft gets…Uppity.”
There’s a long pause as Thaddeus strolls down a very different path like he knows the area like the back of his hand, moving with assured confidence.
“Wait..did you bloody say COUNCIL of Bancroft?!”
We fade in on the heels, stockings, skirt and corsetry of Harriet as she is preparing a machine dials and switches smiling to the camera.
“People Of the Imperial Wrestling Federation..”
There’s a sudden and violent cut to Thaddeus Sat in a chair a wicked smirk on his face.
“Plebians.”
Cut to The vision of Captain Thaddeus adjusting his Tie on a balcony as Bertie stands just behind his shoulder another machine much like the one Harriet is preparing in the background.
“Ladies and gentlemen..”
Back to Harriet who smiles.
“We have a problem.”
Chair Thaddeus, looking peterbuted and sipping tea.
“I have a problem.”
Balcony Thaddeus, dead serious.
“There is a problem, a crime that must be punished.”
Harriet smiling charmingly.
“Punished to the fullest extent of the law.”
Back to Chair Thaddeus who throws the Teacup and chuckles madly.
“A punishment and an answer, to a question that has plagued me since I discarded the carcass of a pretender and found a new lease of life as a champion! England’s champion.”
Balcony Thaddeus, looking a little sad and down.
“In my haste for victory, I have unleashed something wrong, something maniacal something worse. It will end.”
Chair Bancroft as he straightens up and he smiles.
“End in pugilistic endeavour, where only one…”
Back to Harriet.
“The real Thaddeus Bancroft…will prevail, not for England not for justice but simply to claim his life back.”
Balcony Thaddeus, smiles and looks up into the camera.
“I always was Thaddeus, will be Thaddeus and shall be Thaddeus you sir, have done more damage than you realise and this charade must end.”
Chair Thaddeus spreads his arms as he laughs.
“The last we met, I disposed of you like the garbage you are, how do you hope to beat me? I am better!.”
Balcony Thaddeus adjusting his wrist cuffs as he moves over to the machine and starts tio flick a few switches as the screen splits into two and Harriet’s perspective is shown the gate starting to hum and crackle in to life as Thaddeus spoke.
“You fail to grow, to look past your shortcomings, I have grown I have learned The times must change, and so must I.”
The split screen focuses on Harriet and Thaddeus, sets of fingers flicking switches at the same time as the gate forms simultaneously into being and balcony Thaddeus and Harriet stand to face each other on the split screen before visual steps are taken the spilt screen becomes one screen Bertie close behind as the yawning portal closes and Thaddeus of the here and now takes Harriet’s arm.
“You can’t stop us, you will be brought to Justice, there will be no reprieve.”
Back to chair Thaddeus who is looking a little more bedraggled.
“I will rain down every agony, every violation upon you! I won’t rest until nothing of you remains! Only one of us can stand tall! ONLY ONE!”
Thaddeus and Harriet stand tall with Bertie on the other side looking mean as He nods.
“I’ll see you there.”
Fade out.
