I'm on my own
The scene opens and it’s Wednesday and we see Stephen Kingsley walking through Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, granted he is not walking his normal pace after going through the chain match at Legacy. Mr. and Mrs. Kingsley was walking in front of him. This time Stephen has on a pair of khaki shorts and Red polo shirt. If he were in Target he would be mistaken as an employee. They arrived at the gate and they were early considering there was no plane at the gate. So they sit down.
Mr. Kingsley: Stephen are you sure you don’t want to come back with us?
Stephen stares out the window and shakes his head in a yes indication.
Mrs. Kingsley: Stephen, you have to let it go. You must be able to forgive your sister. Why don’t you come back with us and give it some time. You will surround yourself with friends and family and you will forget what just took place. One day, maybe Nicole will realize and come to her right mind and ask for reconciliation.
Stephen does not answer his mom. The plane arrives at the gate. The door opens and a couple of flight attendants walk over to the counter and the passenger begins to disembark. Mr. Kingsley walks up to the counter and gave them the tickets and got two boarding passes. He thanks the lady and go back to his seat. He looks over at his son.
Mr. Kingsley: Son, I have to agree with you on this one. Even though I recognize that the right thing to do is for you to come back with us, but if I was in your situation I would have to stick around. I know you are hurting inside and you are past the point of being pissed off, but you need to remain focused. You have seen enough guys at the Kingsley’s bar & grill being pissed off and don’t give a care about what they are doing and they end up getting hurt. Mainly because you threw their asses out on the street after you took them down a notch or two.
Stephen looks at his dad and a half of a smile appears, and his dad had something else to say.
Mr. Kingsley: Now I have to say this or your mother would be on my case for the rest of the flight home and it is a long flight home. I know you have said the option is always open, but you are always welcome to come back and run the family business. Lord knows that Bruce needs some training on how to handle wild and crazy people.
One of the flight attendant announces that it was time to start boarding. Stephen noticed that there were other people that had come to the gate. Mr. and Mrs. Kingsley stands up and Stephen stood up as he looks around. Mr. Kingsley shakes his hands.
Mr. Kingsley: You know what you have to do.
Stephen nods his head in a yes motion and he looks at his mother. She was not happy with this visit. You could tell that she wanted Stephen to come home and just forget about what had happened. She was going to tell Stephen the way she felt when Stephen cuts his mother off. Now cutting mom off is not a very smart move on Stephen’s part.
Stephen: I know what you are about to say. I am not tucking my tail and running backwards. Nicole needs my help and like I said if Nicole needed my help like Bruce did, I would do the same thing for Nicole. I will not turn my back on my little sister. Right now she has turned her back on the whole family but I believe she is just being influenced and blinded by love. At some point she will come to her senses and eventually will make everything right with the family.
Stephen looks at his mom and hoping that is what she wanted to hear. Stephen is holding back on what he really wanted to say. Mom shook her head in agreement and she hugs her son and walks towards the gate. Mr. Kingsley looks at Stephen. Stephen knows that his dad had a clue that he wanted to say a hell of a lot more but he kept it from his mother.
Mr. Kingsley: Take care of things. When will you be back to visit?
Stephen: No idea. I will come back and visit for a week or two and maybe give Bruce some suggestions or two.
Both men begin to laugh. Mr. Kingsley heads toward the ramp that leads to the plane. Mr. and Mrs. Kingsley stops before entering the ramp and turn and waves at Stephen. Stephen wave back and they walk through the door and disappears. Stephen sits down and stays there until the plane departs from Ronald Regan Washington National Airport. Stephen stands up rubs his head, where there are stitches due to being piledriver through a table with a chain wrapped around his head. He begins to walk away from the gate as the scene fades out.
The scene opens and we are in Stephen’s home. Stephen is in the kitchen and he has a pack of cigarettes in his hands, in fact he was reading the warning on the package.
Warning sign
When you slapped me a few weeks ago a lot of people were saying that you were turning your back against me. I felt deep in my heart that it was just another brother and sister thing. You have slapped me many times, but this slap was a warning sign that I missed.
Association
There is a saying that says you become like the ones you hang around with. I went to prison for 6 months but because I met Cyrus Daniels and hang around with him it cost another 18 months in prison. Nicole look what is happening to you. A lot of shit took place at Legacy. Nicole you helped Cyrus to destroy me. All he had to do was nod and you jump! But you forgot one thing. You never did ask how high? You just did what he asks you to do.
Mission FAILED!
Both of you failed! You thought that you had destroyed me? I am still walking and talking and the best part is I am still here! Cyrus had you to help him and then Bernard de Montfort joined in on the attack after the match was done with. For someone who considers the “weakest link” or “the joke of IWF” it took THREE of you and STILL YOU COULD NOT GET THE JOB DONE! Did you honestly think that I would tuck my head between my legs and kiss my ass goodbye? SERIOUSLY!
On my own
This week Nero Blake will not have to worry about if Cyrus Daniels coming to my aid during the match. From now on I will be alone in that ring. This week I have to prove that I CAN stand on my own two feet. There is no partner to come to my rescue. There is no “church of Thor” that I belong to here in the IWF. I am alone in the ring for the first time in my career. Sure I had many singles matches but I knew if I was to get into trouble Cyrus would bail me out somehow. But now, I am the only one that can bail me out of trouble. I am the one that will have to plant my feet firmly and prove to myself that I am worthy to wrestle here in the IWF. I guess you could say that there in no one pulling my strings.
Stephen places the pack of cigarettes, now to remind you that the pack had never been opened and he trashes them.
Smoking will kill you. Nero Blake I don’t want you to get the wrong impression about me. I am not afraid to fight my own battles. I battle crocodiles without any assistance from anyone and I was damn good at it. I just happened to get associated with the wrong person while in prison, and that association is dissolved. Nero I am on the hunt and you are the first to stand in my way and I will do whatever it takes to take care of my prey.
Stephen places a hand over the lens of the camera as the scene fades out.
