The scene opens directly after Ashley’s match at Extreme Endurance. As she walks through the curtain and down the steps leading into the backstage area, there’s a group of IWF roster members who applaud her in her efforts. As she walks through the sea of people, thanking each of them for their support as they acknowledge the hard work and dedication she has put into her career up until this point, she stops as there are two people at the end of the crowd who stand there and stare. The smile on her face dissipates and she approaches them cautiously. Before she can make it to them, the two of them begin to clap with smiles on their faces as her cautiousness is overtaken by joy as she walks over and hugs both Alexis and Mike Laszlo. As she pulls away, Mike offers his congratulations.
Mike Laszlo: Impressive. You took on one of the hottest chicks, in terms of winning, in this place and you took her down off that pedestal. Congratulations, and I hope that your reign goes on for quite some time.
Ashley Mastrangelo: Thank you so much. For everything.
Mike Laszlo: Enjoy that. This is your first title win and you will never get another moment of gratification that matches what you’re going through right now. You may win more titles, but you will never win a first title again. Have fun.
Mike starts to head off leaving the two women in a bit of a stare down. Alexis is first to break the silence.
Alexis Caffrey: I know that we haven’t always seen eye to eye on a lot, but you deserve that win. Congratulations Ashley.
Ashley seems a bit shocked by the positive nature of the conversation as Alexis offers out her hand. Ashley reaches out and the two share an amicable handshake.
Ashley Mastrangelo: Uh…um…thanks. Hopefully soon you can get on the roster and we can duke it out for this belt.
Alexis Caffrey: When that day comes, it will coincide with the day your reign ends.
Alexis releases from the handshake and heads off after Mike as Ashley looks on.
====================
Ashley Mastrangelo: All the talk, all the idle threats, I proved to the world in front of my hometown fans that it all meant nothing. Now here I stand holding one of the more sought after belts in this company.
The scene opens showing Ashley, somewhere in the back, down a flight of steps, seated on a production crate, now holding the Ruby Title out in front of her in the air.
Ashley Mastrangelo: A little bit ago, live and in person in front of twenty-one thousand people I proved all the naysayers wrong in on quick submission hold, and three slaps of Amber’s hand on the mat. I went out there and I proved that you don’t have to have loved this business your entire life. I proved that the wrestling bug doesn’t have to be embedded in your genes. I proved without a shadow of a doubt that as long as you love this business and respect all that has come before you, and work your butt off, you can accomplish your goals.
Ashley pulls the title belt in and holds it in front of her, staring into the polished silver plate, engulfed in its beauty as if in a trance, she continues on.
Ashley Mastrangelo: When I first started training, things were simple. I wanted to be the best of the group and soon that’s exactly what I became. Then it came to the letdown that was the CWF. I was signed to a contract and in the end, I asked for my release because things just weren’t going as I had hoped. I took a hiatus until the IWF opened its doors and rose from the ashes of NCW. I knew that this was my shot at redemption and therefore, my goal of getting signed to another organization was completed. After that came the actual competition. I wanted to be better than them all, because that’s just the way I am.
As she stares at the belt, she removes one of her hands from beneath it and scrolls her index finger across the name plate that still reads Amber Richards, but would soon be replaced by her own.
Ashley Mastrangelo: Then came Amber and her trash talk. She told everyone who would listen of her life story; bouncing from home to home until finally she made it. Everything that took her years to accomplish took me less than one and that fact is what bothered her. The obsession she had with proving I was good for nothing is what clouded her judgment. That obsession is what led to her downfall because my obsession was so much more. My need to be better, my absolute desire to hold this Ruby Title was greater than her resolve to keep it. Now it’s mine, and if I have my way, it will be staying with me for a really long time.
Ashley flips the belt over her shoulder and scoots off of the crate, readying herself to walk away when a stagehand approached her and whispers into her ear.
Ashley Mastrangelo: Oh? Really? Can’t wait.
The stagehand exits the scene as Ashley turns back toward the camera a big smile on her face.
Ashley Mastrangelo: So, talk about fast right? I just found out my first post-Ruby Title win match is against Ayla St. James on Sacrifice next week. She is the very opinionated one isn’t she? I remember this one time where she teamed with someone and totally trashed her own partner, talk about grateful right? Anyway, hopefully she’s a little bit nice, because let’s face it, as of a few minutes ago, I’m on a joyous ride of a lifetime. It’s really an all-time high if you will and to be honest, I don’t need any haters bringing me down with their negativity. As a matter of fact, I refuse to let such events happen.

=== Giddy ===
As I pulled into my parking lot at my apartment a couple hours after the Extreme Endurance Pay Per View and the after party, I looked over in my passenger seat at the Ruby Title in its undisturbed resting spot. I couldn’t help but smile as to this point in my life, this is perhaps the one crowning achievement. It’s the one thing that has meant more than anything thus far. As I stared at it in all of its aforementioned beauty, my phone broke my gaze as it vibrated in my cup holder. As I gazed at the screen, I saw a message from the guy who oh so badly wants to be my boyfriend, and the man who didn’t take advantage of me when he could have totally gotten away with it, Ryan.
”I was there tonight. Congratulations.”
A bit of a giggle came from my lips as I quickly placed my hand over them. I was like a high school girl who had garnered interest from the high school quarterback or something. The thoughts ran through my head as I looked at the text message again.
Ashley Mastrangelo: Oh my God. Here’s this extremely nice, gorgeous guy. Not only is he interested in me, but he came to see me wrestle on top of it? AND HE SAW ME WIN THE TITLE!
Holding my phone in my hands, I thought about what to text back, and yet, through all the thoughts and all the random messages I could have typed, it was but one word with a simple punctuation.
”Oh?”
Looking at what I had just typed, I was embarrassed a bit and in the end dropped my phone with a sigh.
Ashley Mastrangelo: After all of that, that’s what I come up with? How retarded can I be?
I rested my head on the steering wheel in front of me and closed my eyes, and to my surprise, there was a response vibration on my lap. Sitting up in my seat I looked down at what he had to say.
”Yeah, you looked great. So proud of you.”
Ashley Mastrangelo: Awwww…he said he’s proud. Isn’t that cute?
Before I could respond, there was another text from him.
”We should go celebrate tomorrow with some Championship Breakfast.”
Ashley Mastrangelo: Did he really just ask me out for breakfast and use my title win as a springboard? Eh, what the hell?
”Pick me up in the AM?”
He was quick with the reply.
”How about 9?”
”Sure. Goodnight.”
”Goodnight Champ.”
Taking a sigh of relief, I realized that I had just accepted my first “date” in quite some time. I had been so wrapped up with my career and such that it just never garnered time. What did he have planned?
Ashley Mastrangelo: What did I just agree too?
A few thoughts ran through my head as I looked over at my Ruby Title once more, a smile automatically appearing on my face. As I grabbed it from my seat, I stepped out of the car with a briskness to each step. I locked up the car and skipped to the front door of the apartment as the scene fades.
====================
Ashley Mastrangelo: The last time you and I shared a ring Ayla, we teamed up with Tara in a match right before Legacy. Leading up to that match, you said that I had an ego. I heard those words Ayla and that really hurt me deep down inside.
The scene opens to Ashley, the morning after Extreme Endurance, getting ready for her breakfast “date”. As she grabs the heated straightener and begins running it through her blonde hair, she goes on with an explanation.
Ashley Mastrangelo: As I sit here and wonder what it is you were talking about, I just can’t seem to find it. Ego? Really? I think I’ve had anything but. All I’ve done the last few weeks is talk about how I love this business more than anything else I’ve ever done now or ever. I’ve talked about the respect I have for all of those who came before me, and how that respect has acted as motivation for what has now become my first Ruby Title reign. Nowhere have I patted myself on the back. Nowhere have I totally tore down my opponent because that would be totally against what I’ve been about this entire time since I signed a contract in IWF.
After straightening the rest of her hair, Ashley exchanges the now cooling flat iron for a comb to run through her hair, taking out any random straggles that were un-phased by the heat of the straightener. Her eyes slide from the mirror to the camera behind her.
Ashley Mastrangelo: I mean, after all Ayla, I’m not here to tear anyone down verbally. If I wanted to roast people I would be on the Comedy channel killing some un-suspecting celebrity. I want competition. I want to take this division to heights before unfathomable. If that’s ego, color me guilty. If anything, I would think that is the exact opposite. Looking at those words, I would say that those thoughts, that train of thinking, is rather unselfish. I want to help this division be just as recognized as the men in this company. I want to help us be able to main event television shows, pay per views, the lot of it. Me holding this belt helps that cause Ayla, and I am a proud holder of it.
Ashley puts the finishing touches on her hair before setting down her utensils and turning to the door, walking out of the bathroom into the living room, followed by the camera as she sits to put her shoes on.
Ashley Mastrangelo: I don’t want you to think bad of me Ayla. I don’t want you to perceive niceness as weakness because that can’t be farther from the truth. Don’t be like Amber Ayla. Don’t look at my victory as a fluke because it was anything but. Don’t look at me across from your name on the card, standing across the ring from you at Sacrifice, and think of me as merely a title holder. I won this belt, and I am champion. Monday night you find out that the heart I possess should not be questioned. You find out Monday that the skill I possess should not be overlooked. Monday you come to the realization, to the fact, that I am the Ruby Champion and that the sole fact of me being so is every bit warranted.
There’s a knock at the door as Ashley gets up from her couch. She opens the door and sees Ryan. She turns to the camera and winks as the scene fades and she walks out the door.
Mike Laszlo: Impressive. You took on one of the hottest chicks, in terms of winning, in this place and you took her down off that pedestal. Congratulations, and I hope that your reign goes on for quite some time.
