"TO BE, OR NOT TO BE..."

Five days after her birthday...
The All Infamous Wrestling and Martial Arts Academy.
Inside her third floor apartment that also served as an office, Fiona McFly sat calmly at her desk, peering at the words she had recorded on her Personal Access Display Device (PADD), the tablet-like device she had acquired from her recent experiences with her descendant, Deborah Deanna McFly, and the crew of her starship. The weather outside was unseasonably cool for this part of spring in the DFW Metroplex, but for the most part Fiona enjoyed the tranquility. That was...until she saw the multi-coloured birthday present from Rob Diamond, James Gilmore, and Caroline Machado sitting firmly on her sofa.
She pressed a small, red button on the bottom of her PADD. The word "RECORDING" began to flash on top of the screen as Fiona began to narrate, her eyes fixated on her birthday present.
FIONA MCFLY:
Personal log, supplementary...
Fiona stood up, stretched her arms, and slogged towards the sofa. She picked up the box and read the names on it, reminding herself of what happened to the team she was once a part of.
FIONA:
I've never trusted Steven Bates...and I never will.
She spoke with a cold fury as she read the names with her eyes.
FIONA:
I can never forgive him for taking that stipulation and betraying us...
She gently set the present on her desk.
FIONA:
We've endured a lot since the Academy opened, setback after setback, winter storms and missed deadlines. Yet I feel as the Academy can be more than just a former prison, with buildings that need tender loving care. At best, I find that to be problematic...
Fiona took a deep breath, gazing her eyes upon the concept model of a fully-realised All Infamous campus. There was a space towards the back for a confidence course, a space near the front for a meditation garden...deep down, she knew that this was only the first phase of a massive project to help bring colour to a place that felt only black-and-white.
Yet her mind never escaped itself from that box that served as her birthday present, and perhaps...something bigger.
FIONA:
It seems to me that Steve's return has ignited plenty of mixed feelings from both sides. JJ says we could be on the verge of a reunion, one that would be "epic" in his mind, and...I'd like to believe him. But how in Christ's name can history get past people like me...?
Someone cleared her throat, and Fiona quickly turned, ending her meditation. She saw Caroline Machado standing in the open doorway, sporting a red backpack full of books.
CAROLINE MACHADO:
Hi!!! What's up...?!
Fiona sighed, slightly embarrassed that someone would spot her in a private moment.
FIONA:
Please don't scare me like that. Knock next time...
CAROLINE:
Sorry, Coach Fiona. I did not know you were...talking to yourself?
Caroline giggled as Fiona picked up the PADD and pressed the red button again to stop recording.
FIONA:
Oh, this? It's a gadget I got from a friend, allows you to record audio journal entries.
The Brazilian nodded, then noticed the still-unopened box that was sitting on her coach's desk.
CAROLINE:
Have you opened your present yet...?
Fiona shook her head.
FIONA:
I'm afraid not, haven't had the time...
CAROLINE:
You should! If something is important, you make the time!
Fiona sighed, trudging towards the desk and that unopened package. Perhaps...she thought inside her mind, that the present was a reminder of what Being Infamous used to be before Steven Bates fucked it all up. That was the reason why she didn't want to open the present at first, for it felt "too close."
Yet she didn't get the chance to reveal the package's contents. A brown-shirted delivery gal, sporting a UPS badge, arrived with a smaller box that had been addressed specifically to the Northern Irishwoman.
UPS DELIVERY GAL:
'Scuse me, is Miss Fiona McFly here...?
FIONA:
You found her, how can I help?
UPS DELIVERY GAL:
Got a registered package for you, ma'am -- from Northern Ireland.
Northern Ireland...Fiona muttered in amazement. Fiona never received anything from her native homeland since her parents' murder-suicide back in 2018. She took the new package, wondering what this was going to be all about.
UPS DELIVERY GAL:
Would ya sign here on line six, please?
Fiona signed on the requested line...
UPS DELIVERY GAL:
So, this is All Infamous! My hubby loves this wrestlin' stuff. Would ya mind lettin' him come on by and visit sometime...?
Fiona gave a slight nod, but clearly...her mind was on what was in that package. As the UPS lady went about her business, Fiona sighed as she opened the box in question. Her eyes widened as she saw a small, white piece of paper that was rolled up like a scroll. When she unfurled the parchment, she jumped back upon reading the Gaelic inscription.
Fuck's sake...
Caroline raised an eyebrow.
CAROLINE:
You okay...?
FIONA:
This is...
Fiona paused, taking a moment to compose herself.
FIONA:
This is the deed to my family's ancestral home...
Inside the small box, where the deed was kept, was a note. Fiona put on her reading glasses and read the note's contents.
"THERE IS MORE ABOUT YOUR FAMILY THAN YOU REALISE. PLEASE ACCEPT THIS TOKEN GESTURE AS A WAY FOR HER MAJESTY'S GOVERNMENT TO CORRECT A GRAVE INJUSTICE ON ITS PART. WITH WARMEST REGARDS...
-Capt. Thomas R. Hargrove, HMS St. Claire"
Hargrove, my father's former first officer...Fiona muttered, her eyes fixated upon another handwritten note that contained an address for a specific location in Belfast. Yet what made Fiona startle was a smallish oil-on-canvas painting of what appeared to be a vessel of some kind, featuring a beak-shaped bow and wings that were as massive as the wings of an eagle.
Lunar Whale...Fiona muttered to herself. She remembered her grandfather telling her the story of how a giant vessel, seemingly born from God's will, came to the family's ancestral land centuries ago from the heavens, crash-landing onto the main ground. Fiona, at first, thought that the Lunar Whale was just that, a legend.
Yet she knew that even the greatest of myths had to be investigated.
Fiona turned to Caroline before quickly proceeding to her storage closet.
FIONA:
I don't think you can help me on this one, Caroline. I must go alone...
CAROLINE:
I wish I could go with you...
FIONA:
You have training and school to accomplish! I'll be a'right, trust me.
Caroline nodded, showing a slight frown on her face yet understanding of the situation. Fiona took out her red rolling suitcase and began to pack it up, prepping herself for an early morning flight to a place she had never expected to visit again.
To a place called "home."
Fiona turned to the Brazilian student and gave her a loving wink.
FIONA:
The Force will be with you...always.
Caroline trudged out of the room, leaving Fiona to continue packing her things with a sense of haste. Yet she paused when her eyes became fixated upon the birthday present, and with a deep sigh...she placed it into the suitcase. She would open it at a later time.
When the time was right for her to do so...
