{The introductory video montage for Game On plays, showing numerous highlights from the most recent episode IWF: No Way Home! The logo for Game On slowly overtakes the camera, as the scene shifts not to the studios where Seth Evans normally hosts from, but instead to a much more cozy space. Gaming paraphernalia and far too much RGB lighting than is necessary fills the space behind the smiling host for the week. Pooler is already smiling and ready to greet the audience.}
Bob Pooler: What's up, everyone? Welcome to a bit of a different edition of Game On. Seth is taking some well earned time away from in front of the camera and asked if I would mind slipping on the headphones for a bit. So, without further adieu, let's jump into this B-Side edition of Game On!
Weekly Top 5
Five: Those Damn Gaijin
Reasoning: Gave their all this week and I was surprised when they weren't able to pull out the victory in the end. Fantastic effort from them though!
Four: Rowan, Jessica Reed, & Eternity
Reasoning: They're what happens when Charlie's Angels meets American Horror Story ... and I think I like it.
Three: Mandi Matthews
Reasoning: She put on a hell of a performance and nearly walked away with the Women's World Title!
Two: Evan “Thunderchild” Albrecht
Reasoning: Dropping one spot this week is Evan “Thunderchild” Albrecht, who has had a very impressive string of appearances. Since winning the Roulette last month, he has been catching the eye of champion Warren Kane and his time in this week's Beat the Clock Challenge was enough to secure him his pick for the match stipulation against Kane at Night of the Immortals.
One: Eternity
Reasoning: The only three time Iron Maiden champion in IWF history, Eternity earned this spot with a rather dominant handling of Vivianne Rogers at No Way Home this week.
Clutch Play of the Week
Bob Pooler: No Way Home was certainly one for the record books. Here are some of the highlights!
{Steve quickly tries to climb down but Nick grabs him by the hair and smashes his head into the ladder. Steve almost falls straight down into the burning table but catches himself before he did. Steve climbs up and meets Nick at the top and hits him with a strike and Nick fires back with one of his own. The ladder starts to sway. Nick smashes Steve’s face off the top of the ladder and then grabs him by the throat to try and push him off! But Steve pounds a fist into Nicks bad hand that was stabilizing himself and Nick roars in pain and lets go. Steve sees the burning table and Nick in pain and does the only logical thing. He reaches up and grabs the ceiling support beam and pulls himself up with one hand. Latches his legs around Nick and takes Nick down with a big Frankenstiener!!!!}
Bob Pooler: While not my first thought upon seeing a flaming table, you can't help but admire the style of Steve Awesome.
{ Andrew and Ethan had toward the taproom but the door is kicked upon by Terrella as Chris comes charging through with a keg on a push cart and slams it into Andrew Jacobsen! Ethan goes to attack but Terrella charges him with a shoulder block, the two bigger men just bouncing off each other! }
Bob Pooler: It was at this moment that I knew this match would be something special!
{Vivienne hits Eternity with a Slumber Party before turning to look at Rowan coming out of the pod. Eternity pops up and hits Viv with a The Last Rites and slamming Vivienne down to the mat. Going for the pin.}
Bob Pooler: If you said you saw that one coming you're a liar. But, as clutch as these highlights were, this week the honor goes to…
{Dakota ducks under the lariat as she pins hooking the arm with one of her own pulling the Champion into a Blistering Short arm Shoulder block rolling over to pick Cals up on her shoulders to drop into a Finlay roll and then standing up herself to run at Cals and Hit a huge King Kong Knee drop rolling up to her feet as Cals manages to stand and Avoid the incoming Shoulder block attempt, letting the Bigger Woman have to slow her momentum at the Turn buckle lest she collides fully with it turning back around to eat a kick to the midsection as he moves in and then Cals turns their momentum back around as Dakota eats a rolling Elbow and from somewhere Dakota pulls out a TAIL WHIP as she collapses to the mat alongside Cals}
Bob Pooler: This was an easy one for me. In a match that everyone knew would be hard hitting, former champion Cals Jacobsen and new Imperial Diamonds champion Dakota Bowman left it all out on the mat. In a match that saw the former champion taking it to the challenger, Bowman not only refused to stay down, but also dished it as well as Jacobsen!
IWF WOMEN'S WORLD TITLE MATCH
SADISTIC MADNESS
Mandi Matthews vs Tara Fenix(c)
Bob Pooler: This match was a symphony in brutality. These two women showed why they are two of the most talented in the company. Matthews has nothing to be ashamed of and has grown as a competitor more than, dare I say, any of her peers had once hoped. I guarantee that this isn't the last time you see Matthews in this position, but it won't be long until she's the one holding that title high. Likewise, Tara has been such a dominant champion that it may be a long time before she's unseated. Only time will tell, eh!
POWER 10
Steve Awesome: He has been working hard since his return to gain his revenge over Lucipher Crosse with a victory over Nick Knight. It wasn't a pretty wrestling match as much as an all out war that saw Awesome pull out all the stops and walk out with the win.
Warren Kane: Kane was successful in his match at No Way Home, but wasn't able to secure his victory in time to beat the one set by his challenger at Night of the Immortals, Evan Albrecht. Kane didn't look concerned as he realized that it would be his opponent choosing the stipulation of his next title defense.
Violent Tendencies: If Diamond and Terrella did anything this week, it's show that the Powers That Be will need to expect the unexpected in their match next month. Violent Tendencies took on Those Damn Gaijin in one of the better matches of the evening and really earned their spots on the chart.
Ulf Hednir: Hednir moves back a few spots mostly due to the quality of his 'victory'. While neither he nor his opponent wanted to see the match end in such a letdown, there's nothing they can do but look forward to their next match up against each other.
Cals Jacobsen: They may have fallen short on their title defense, but you can't fault them on their effort. Cals was a great champion and there's no doubt that they will find themselves with gold again before long.
Evan “Thunderchild” Albrecht: He had the deck stacked against him, so to speak, by setting the time to beat in the Beat the Clock Challenge. But, his quick pinfall was enough to secure him the rights to naming the stipulation against Warren Kane at Night of the Immortals.
The Powers That Be: They seem to be unstoppable, but after Gods and Monsters took them to the limit, could we see the Powers That Be double down and tighten their grip on the Tag titles?
Tara Fenix: Tara jumps a few spots and rightfully so. Her match with Mandi was hard hitting and brutal. She left no doubt in anyone's mind why she is the reining Women's World champion.
Dakota Bowman: Dakota is waking up this week ten pounds heavier with her victory over dominant champion Cals Jacobsen. I'm very interested to see what Bowman does now that she's seated at the top of the mountain!
Eternity: The winner of the Iron Maiden, and only woman to do so three times. You can't say enough good things about Eternity. She's scary good as a champion, but even scarier when she's got nothing to lose.
HONORABLE MENTIONS: Tytus Rost, because the dude continues to take out multiple competitors in his matches. Like, how is he not moving up the card already?
Predictions:
SINGLES MATCH
1K RP Word Limit
Nick Danger vs Caleb Lockwood
Reasoning: Caleb is a tough competitor and former World Champion. He's shown time and time again that he'll do whatever it takes to come out on top and, frankly, poor Nick isn't seeming very Dangerous lately.
SINGLES MATCH
1K RP Word Limit
Tytus Rost vs Ducky Tomlinson
Reasoning: The Russian thirst machine has been stacking up wins in multi-man matches as of late. I don't see a one-on-one match giving him much trouble.
TAG TEAM MATCH
The Disciples vs The Chosen Elite
Reasoning: I've been back and forth on this one and while both groups could absolutely walk away with the win here, I think that we might see some Steve Awesome interference that might tip the scales in favor of the Chosen Elite.
INTERVIEW
Bob Pooler: Alright, so this one is going to be a little weird. Normally, Seth has his guest in the studio to chat about life and video games, but if you follow any of my streams then you already know pretty much all there is to know - but for the sake of the show, and any new viewers who have no clue who I am, let's get this show on the road.
So, the interview format usually works because the host can play off his guest, but I'm going into this a bit blind. Seth was able to collect a few questions that have been submitted by you all out there in Imperial Land and passed them along to me. Let's dive in and see what you folks want to know!
The first question is coming in from @impsimp, and they want to know, "What will he do next?"
Hah, well firstly, five points to Gryffindor for managing to tie my old catchphrase into a question. I'd like to pretend this was a serious question, though, because it's a great place to start. See, back in the day it was easy to ask that question - I mean, the sky was still, somewhat, the limit for me. There was so much left to do, and definitely more mountains to climb. But, I've accomplished so much in my career that I didn't have many regrets about hanging up my boots competitively and focusing on the good people of the Performance Centre. Though, there are a few things that I'd like to cross off my 'To Do' list if I'm ever pushed into stepping back into the ring.
The next fan question comes from @lockedown69: Do you have any match you would like to have in the future?
Well there are always going to be those matches that I'd wished I'd had before stepping away from the ring. They few at the top of my little mental list are Dean Harper, 'cause he owes me a match and maybe I can slap whatever crazy nonsense out of his head that Angel's been sticking in there. I still want a match against the Ace because for as long as we've worked together - I don't think we've ever faced off one-on-one. Um, and the third match is kind of this grudge thing I'm still holding on to even though my therapist tells me time after time to let it go ... but Steve Awesome is still owed some more beatings for the stunt he pulled last year. I don't care if its a sanctioned match or not, we aren't done Awesome. Not by a long shot.
Well, this is good timing. @goformiles wants to know: Last time on Game On there was a brief update about Miles Reyes. Can you elaborate and tell us what is going on with him? He was so promising before the tragedy.
For those of you who didn't tune in to hear the interview that Seth did with Steve Awesome, the quick and dirty version of the story is that a few years ago Steve was offering up free title shots at his, and it pains me to call it this, SeXtreme title. Well, one of our recruits at the Performance Centre decided to give Steve a little piece of his mind on Twitter, which the crybaby took offense to. Their little battle of words went back and forth a bit, no harm done. But, unbeknownst to me or the rest of the staff at the Centre, Steve had challenged Miles to a match for his title. Miles being a hotheaded eighteen year old took him up on the offer without clearing it through those of us in charge. One of the cardinal rules in professional wrestling is being sure to try and protect your opponent. We all want to win and have no problem punching each other in the face to get that big W, but at the end of the day we take care of each other.
Steve didn't.
Miles got hurt ... bad. The kid was put into a medically induced coma for a few weeks due to brain swelling and he's been recovering ever since. While Steve has been going around impregnating anything with a vagina, Miles has been relearning the basics like feeding himself and walking all over again.
While it would have been nice for Miles to get some of those nannites to repair the damage to his spine and nervous system like Ms. McFly I'm not even one hundred percent it's legal, safe, or actually real. I mean ... ya know?
But, yeah, Miles is doing better and requested permission to kick it at the Centre with his peers. He still enjoys watching and I think would make a dynamite coach at some point.
Okay, so the next question comes from IWFPerformNewb: Do you ever want to just deck one of the PC people?
Ha, every damn day. Don't get me wrong, I love my job and everyone I work with ... but some of these 'adults' are super young and immature and whining that I hear sometimes ... there isn't a jury domestically who would find me guilty.
DickPicks4Kicks wants to know: How did a guy like you even get started working with the PC people?
The short answer is Roberto Verona. When he caught wind of my imminent departure from the ring he pulled me aside and offered me a coaching gig at the Performance Centre and a chance to help create the next generation of IWF superstars.
LoveByrd420 asks: You’ve always been outspoken for and against certain members of the IWF universe - can you go into more detail about your love/hate backstage relationship with the other men and women?
I'm pretty easy to get along with and you really always know where you stand with me. Canadian or not, I'm honest to a fault and don't mine my words. There are a few people in this company, like Angel or Rowan, who shouldn't be employed here after some of the stunts they've pulled. Like, did everyone just forget about their weird little cults and attempted coos?
But then there are the people who I don't understand, and therefore want to see destroyed. Okay, maybe not destroyed - but publicly flogged and ridiculed. Two names that spring to mind are the oft mentioned together Fiona McFly and James 'I'm not allowed within two hundred feet of a school' Gilmore. Like, what's their deal? I can never put my finger on what either of them want, only that I want to slap the taste out of their respective mouths.
Anonymoustrainee876 has a serious question for me: What are your thoughts on PC interpersonal relationships? Will I get booted out for having one? I know your predecessor wasn’t fond of them, and I don’t want HR up my ass about it? So please go on public record here.
You gotta keep it in your pants if you can, because if you screw up and things get messy outside of the ring - there's no way that you'll be able to keep it from affecting things inside the ring. That's like, rule number one around the Centre - 'Don't make my job more difficult than it has to be'.
LastAtBat asks Have you ever thought about being a role model? What it’s like?
Is that what I am? God, I don't consider myself a role model by any means. I'm a trainer and a coach, but I guess I've been known to help the kids out with some of their life planning. I mean, you'd be surprised how many of these kids have zero clue about how to balance a checkbook, how to change their own damn oil, or even just how to book your own air travel in the eventuality you get called up to the main roster.
Final question of the night comes from our own Devlin Raine. He wants to know: when are you gonna come back and pick up the slack? Slacker! p.s :I love you
Well, I'll be back soon Dev, and I love you too!
Bob Pooler: So I guess that's that. I want to thank Seth for letting me take the time to hang out with you all, and until next week, gamers: GAME ON!
{Scene ends.}
