~*~*~What a week that was. The world watched on as Lance lost his first match back (well, passed out) and then watched on as he joined up with a force that he used to battle against, The Empire. Lance Ryan and Spike Kane are now somewhere that they are not used to being, on the same side. It was truly a shock to everyone to watch on as Lance not only took side with the guys in The Empire, but also as he, someone that is devoutly religious, took part in a crucifixion. What a week that was indeed.~*~*~
~*~*~Lance parks his black convertible in the driveway and grabs his bags as he makes the long walk up the driveway. Home for the first time after his return to the world of wrestling. Home for the first time since he quickly reminded the world that he cannot be trusted and that he will do anything for a buck. Lance walks up to the door, unlocks it and walks into his home.~*~*~
Lance: Honey! Your world renowned Icon is ho…
~*~*~Jessy is standing right in front of Lance as he closes the door behind himself. She is red in theface and her arms are crossed. Definitely the look of one angry wife.~*~*~
Jessy: Good! And after that performance, home is where you just might be staying if I have anything to do with it! What the heck was that? Joining up with Spike Kane? Crucifying a man? Do you know that your children were watching that display? What am I supposed to tell Zell? Better yet, what are YOU going to tell Zell?
Lance: It’s wrestling?
Jessy: What’s next? It’s business? You’re a father first, we discussed this as part of the deal of you getting back into wrestling. Then, just like I said, the first person to come along and whisper in your ear gets ahold of your mind and you forget everything? You know damn well that Spike Kane is one of the worst people on this planet. He takes things too far, he does things that…
Lance: It’s a character Jessy. Spike and I go way back.
Jessy: Spike Kane and Lance Ryan have probably tried to kill one another more than any two people in the world. I don’t like this at all. Who knows what your son is going to think and take from that crucifixion…
~*~*~Almost on cue, Zell walks into the room and he has nails in his hands.~*~*~
Zell: What you did was BAD daddy. I am going to teach you a lesson.
~*~*~Jessy looks sideways at Lance and shakes her head.~*~*~
Jessy: I am going to give you a few minutes to collect yourself but then you need to talk to him. Zell, why don’t you come with me and we will put those back where you found them. Daddy already knows that he made a mistake. Don’t you daddy?
Lance: …
Jessy: Maybe you do need to be punished. The couch seems like a good place for you to be tonight.
~*~*~Jessy takes Zell by the hand and walks out of the room leaving Lance standing alone and looking more confused than ever.~*~*~
Lance: You’re welcome for bringing home a paycheck. I picked up milk on the way home…Jesus…
~*~*~Lance’s eldest son walks through the room and looks at his dad~*~*~
Jamie: Watch your mouth.
Lance: And you all wonder why I want to get out of this house…
~*~*~The scene is very befitting of the mood of a lot of fans of Lance Ryan. He is sitting in the dark with his feet up on a desk and the room is only lit by a desk lamp that is shining off in a different direction than the former fan favorite. Lance is holding a blank stare, no emotion seeming to emit from him and is dressed in a pair of blue jeans and a black non descript t-shirt. Suddenly he chuckles to himself breaking the silence and a small grin starts to curve on his face.~*~*~
Lance Ryan: He is returning to save us again they said. He has come back for revenge on Spike Kane and The Empire they said. Lance Ryan is our hero they said. There really are no such things as heroes and villains in life. People are all made of shades of grey. Look at society. We have priests that stand up on Sundays and speak of the Lord’s mercy and then they get busted for molesting our children. We have politicians that speak of the “dream” but they are sleeping around on their husbands and wives. We have activists that are trying to save the world from something new every day, but really they would be the first ones to steal from a store shelf. There are no good people. I have never claimed to be a good person.
It was exhilarating to come running down that aisle on Monday night and hear the people cheer for me. I jumped right into the lion’s den and everyone felt that I was going to save the world! I never came here to save anything. In fact, follow my career, I have told EVERYONE that can hear me that I cannot be trusted and that I will do anything for money and for fame and for a spot. Do you really think that that is going to change because I have a family? Jamie surfaced into my life because he wanted to fight his father…Zell already understands what pain is about and will probably step into a wrestling ring just like his dad and his brother.
Jessy…well Jessy is another story. She is one of those that believes in the greater good, in karma and in being honorable. Yet, we were together behind everyone’s backs when I was playing the goody two shoes. She has shades of grey as well. The bottom line is this, you people at home and in the seats, you all love me whether you truly love me or you love to hate me. You will pay just as much, if not more, to try and see me get my ass handed to me as you would to see me be the conquering hero. None of you are worth saving. None of you mean a thing to me and at the end of the day, I was offered a spot by Spike Kane in The Empire and the truth of the matter is this, I saw dollar signs, I saw a higher spot on the card and I took the opportunity.
~*~*~Lance turns the light and we see a slide show picture frame. Two photos are alternating, the faces of Bates and Malaki Toala. Lance grins as he watches them take turns filling the screen.~*~*~
Lance: Bates and Toala. You are the two that are next on the slate for me on my road to redemption. Bates, you and I are old friends so to speak. We have battled many a war against and together. Toala, you are new to me. Your makeup isn’t new to me, but I will admit that I don’t know too much about you. However, there are two things that stand out about this match before I even focus on the two of you. The first is that it’s a three-way match. This is something that I have excelled at in my career. These types of matches are much more crafty and reliant on smarts than most people would imagine. With three men in the ring I have done very well at manipulating things so that I can get the rest needed while the other two men pummel one another. Much to my advantage. The second thing that stands out is that this is being billed as a heavyweight showcase.
That is odd to me and it’s good to know that the management here in IWF is not better than anywhere else that I have taken my talents. You have a heavyweight showcase with two men that weigh under 240 pounds and one man that is nearing 300 pounds. To me that is odd. Is it really a heavyweight showcase or is our management team using random felt board pieces to make matches again?
Don’t get me wrong, I am not afraid of a man that outweighs me by sixty pounds. Much to the contrary actually…I prefer to be the giant slayer. Toala, I hope that you have done your homework because power and brawling abilities don’t often match up well against speed and technique. I find that most of the brutes that I have taken on have found out quite quickly just how fast a kick to the jaw will bring you down to my size.
The saying that everyone knows and has heard a million times is that the bigger they are, the harder they will fall. I know that that is cliché, but the fact of the matter is that when I deliver the superkick, not only are you my size but you are smaller than me and at my mercy. I don’t have a problem with taking you on in this heavyweight showcase because I am going to make up for the final result on Monday in this match.
That leaves you Bates. Boy have we had our battles. Let’s be direct on this one though. We are both nCw through and through and we are being put into a match together, I think that the answer is simple. The powers that be seem to be attempting to have all of us nCw alumni pitted against one another. Let’s show them how it’s done. There needs to be a winner, but neither of us need build up a sweat against Toala. You are a smart man, let’s use our brain in this match. If we work him over together and then eliminate him from the equation, we fan forego any fluke of him defeating us and we can battle it out like we always have. It’s as simple as that. Love you or hate you, I respect you and we both know that this side show has no place in a ring with us. Bates vs Ryan should have been one of the upper matches on this pay per view, so let’s take it upon ourselves to get it done.
~*~*~Lance leans back in his chair and again looks at the pictures of Toala and Bates.~*~*~
Lance: Two foes. One I know and one that I don’t. I have a lot to make up for after my premier performance here in IWF and I plan to do so by beating you both within one night. I shocked the world when I sided with Spike Kane and I hope that nobody is shocked when I rise to the top here in IWF where I rightfully and have always belonged.
