Every journey begins with a single step, and ours has been no different.
Three years ago you came to me, lost, alone, and looking for a brand new place to call home. You were never sure we would make it, and neither was I. I don't know how, but we made it. Look at us now, just the two of us together, whether on top of the world or simply up against it, we've survived.
we've endured so much already my love, and now the nice little place we've built must stand against another storm.
Not a single one of them have been able to get in the way you did.
If they only knew your secret, don't worry, I won't tell a soul.
They don't you like I know you, they don't deserve to.
You are mine forever, I am forever yours.
You live now because of me, through me. You are free, free to choose your own life. Free to choose where we go from here. Consider it my gift to you. I offer you freedom, total and absolute. The kind of freedom we are all denied for at least sixteen years of this life.
Cherish the way you live in this moment, in the here and now, free to choose.
Because you had no choice in how it all began and you have no choice in how it all ends...
You heard the screams in the darkness that surrounded her even as she sat on the third rung of a fifteen foot steel ladder in the middle of this room. A soft purple spotlight shone down upon her. She had the Diamonds World Championship laying across her lap and a pentagram at her feet. She spoke to her own reflection stretched across its golden face. Upon her words you heard the screams no more, only her voice.
So this is where it begins, and this too will be where it ends, as all journeys inevitably do. At the bottom of a ladder, the ladder of success, and stil they are not here to see it. Still I wonder, still I hope, wherever they are, they understand. My journey, a journey I took without them. Without their pride and love and admiration, not like they had a choice.
Neither did I.
None of us do in the end, do we?
You see me shake my head, slowly.
No, we never do. Not in the beginning, not in the end.
Only in the in between, however long that happens to be. Your guess is as good as mine. None of us know when our number is about to be called. We have no choice in how we begin or how we end, when we enter or when we leave. No matter the choices we make or the life we lead. No matter how good, bad or indifferent our place is, try as you might you cannot pluck the sun from the sky, any more than you can stop the world from spinning.
It's really quite dizzying when you stop and think about it, isn't it?
But then how many of you actually do?
How many of you stop and think before you speak?
How many of you are there anyway?
The hounds, the opportunists, the dogs, the cats, the dreamers, the hopeful and the hopeless. All one and the same. The same desire, the same fire. The same truth and the same lies, I've heard them all before and I will hear them all again. Before this day began, before it ends, you will come to me and you will seek my meaning. Each of you try, try and try again to find meaning in your meaningless. Each of you try, try, and try again, expecting a different result.
The definition of insanity, the definition of your world, the definition of life.
I am the one and the three. I am the everything the nothing seek.
I am the head nobody can live without. Inseparable.
Don't believe me, just try it. See how long you live. Long enough to the next entrant, the next contestant.
Buzz!
Here comes the next contestant.
Is that your hand on my girlfriend?
Is that your hand?
I wish you'd do it again
I'll watch you leave here limping.
I wish you'd do it again.
I'll watch you leave here limping.
Oh please! Do it again, you know you want to. Go on!
Reach for the sky! There's a snake in my boot! This town isn't big enough for the two of us! Somebody's poisoned the water hole! Toss me on the barbecue, let's have a cookout later. Make believe I'm busted, watch my head spin as I come to life to teach you a lesson you won't soon forget.
I'M ALIVE!
Scream and run away in terror, it's he only sensible thing to do in this situation. Abandon your plans for the rocket launch Sid, and RUN!
Huhuhuhuhuhuhahahahahahahahahahaha!
I have no room for you on my back, that's where my wings go!
Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one!
Buzz!
Such a busy little hive, watch them dance around the Queen. Workers. Insects. Dreaming of the land of milk and honey, the land of opportunity. Barely able to climb molehills, looking to climb mountains. One step at a time, a single step, but in which direction? The only way from here is up, right? Left? That's down to you? Right?
WRONG!
Just like those who came before you, and those that will come after you, they will come.
THEY WILL ALL COME!
Build it and they will come for it, my world, my legacy, my life...worthy of none of it. None of you, not for a single second. Each wasted chasing something you have no hope of ever catching, like dogs. Barking at the moon and the lunatic with the pretty painted face. A clown to some, a doll to others, an inevitability to all.
Bay for my blood, call for my head.

A girl barely a teen, down on her knees in the rain, the wind lashes her blonde hair across her face as she cradles his head. He lay dying, the knife in his chest and the blood began to pool around both of them. Blood or tears, one of them would drown her before this night ended, the only question now was which.
Forever.
You see me snap suddenly out of my reverie and behold you with my glistening green eyes, sat now on a rung half way up the ladder, the world still caught in my embrace. The once purple spotlight has now transitioned to white, giving me an angelic aura.
I will never forget, Father, nor will I ever be forgotten.
I did not come this far simply to go quietly into the night.
This is not the beginning or the end of my journey in the Imperial Wrestling Federation. This is just the middle, the centre, the core, the crowning jewel as any true diamond worth her weight in gold should be. Part of an eternal ring, such a beautiful relationship. Such a wonderful marriage.
Til Death do us part.
Just like all the little girls dream of.
Waiting for their special day to come. Come one, come all. Come for the world and stay for the fall.
Come one, come all, come watch the leaves tumble and turn before they hit the ground. Summer's over, but look on the bright side, the fall has just begun...and you know what that means.
Leaves, leaves, everywhere, glorious and the dead, scattered like ashes to the wind. Left to the boot heels and the worms as the world becomes darker and the nights longer. Listen carefully at this time of year and you can hear them, carried on a chilling wind, whistled and whispered.
The voices. So many voices. So many dolls. So many names. So many graves. Known and unknown. So many lives lost. The remembered and the forgotten, each looking to make an impression on this company in their own way. Guess they'll just have to settle for the canvas.
Hehehehehehehe.
This will be fun, it always is, breaking hearts. Well, depending which side of the ladder you're on, I suppose. I still remember my first time. the dusk before the dawn of the first day. The world on her shoulder, each of us chasing the immortality the night promised.
It wasn't Valentine's Day. How could it be? It was nearly June!
We've come such a long way since then, haven't we?
I am both the amber and the fly. I have been both mother and daughter. Trapped in the very same circles of Hell that confine all of you, and who knows how many of you there are. Exciting, isn't it? The risk, the reward, all so delicately balanced on the top of a ladder. The line between thrill seeker and suicidal is a lot shorter than any of you realise...
You see a cable being lowered for me. You watch me take the thin steel cable in my hands and fashion a make shift noose out of it. You watch me stand up and drop the noose around my neck.
From here, all it takes is one wrong move, one missed step and...
You see me run my thumb across my throat.
It's just that easy. Almost too easy. Where's the fun in any of it? After all, if any of you really are that eager to ride into the mouth of hell with me, the least I can do is enjoy the ride. Don't worry, it's never lasts quite as long as you think it does. The memory or the dream, I am the reality which unites them both. The one that unites them all. The whole through which they rise and fall.
Their breaths shallow, their palms sweaty, their mouths hungry, but only one of us will live, only one of us will grasp and only one of us will be fed. My children will starve but they will not be neglected, for I will remember each of their sacrifices in my name. The holy trinity. Come lay beside me, come lay down your lives in the pursuit of happiness.
Come chase me.
Chase the past, the present, and the future.
Chase Eternity. Eternity chase.
A certainty. The only certainty in a cruel and unbalanced world.
I am the only one who has endured, will endure, and still endures, beyond life and beyond death.
You see me then unloop the cable from around my neck and attach it instead to the Diamonds Championship, which is slowly raised just beyond my reach.
Carpe Dieum.
Seize the day.
You only die once, make it count, even if its only another number, another dsy of the dead, the everlasting, the finale.
Your finale, your Champion, your ultimate.
Nothing is certain in life. Everything is certain in death. It is the only consistently reliable force any of you will come to know, perhaps not as intimately as I, but you will know it as you know me.
An angel, never forgotten and just out of reach.
The one who stands at the gates of Heaven, Always a finger tip away from your world.
Reach out and touch me, for I am the life you will never know.
The traveller without a destination.
The journey without an end.
Death without life.
Three years ago you came to me, lost, alone, and looking for a brand new place to call home. You were never sure we would make it, and neither was I. I don't know how, but we made it. Look at us now, just the two of us together, whether on top of the world or simply up against it, we've survived.

She had just turned eighteen, no longer a little girl, she was a woman now.
A woman out on her own, making her way through life. Looking for somebody to share her new life and new sense of freedom with.
Maybe the man sat across the table from her was just what the doctor had ordered.
Jack was a handsome lad, a couple of years older than her, with a beautiful and definitively square jaw. His light brown locks hung around his shoulders, framing his face like beautiful curtains around the windows to his soul. His dark brown eyes shimmered as they caught the light of the three candles between them.
The kind of eyes she could see herself becoming lost in, given enough time.
How much time did they have exactly?
She didn't know and it wasn't the kind of thing you ever discussed on a first date and so she turned her attention to the rather large steak on her plate, hardly touched, mostly because of the company she kept tonight.
"You're not like most girls, you know that, don't you?" he asked, just as she brought a piece of steak to her lips.
"What do you mean?" she asked.
"Most girls nowadays insist on saving the world, being vegan and all that, y'know. But you, you don't care about any of that stuff, do you?"
She chewed over the steak and his words before she swallowed and answered.
"I'm just a realist, I guess. You can't save the world and even if you could, you aren't going to do it by passing on every little dead little thing somebody serves up to you on a silver platter. Think of all the trouble the poor little chef in the kitchen back there went to in preparing this. Garnishing it, dressing it up so it pleases your eye and distracts you from the reality that it's still dead. If you cannot stop and enjoy the end result of all his hard work, you're essentially telling that chef that he's wasted his life and is wasting his living and his time. Who are you to make that call? Who am I? Who are any of us really, so isn't it better to just shut up and enjoy a steak once in a while?"
"I've never thought about it quite like that before. You really have a wonderfully unique way of looking at the world. I suppose that's why I like you as much as I do. You challenge me to see even the simplest things differently, not to mention you're just about the most beautful woman I've ever seen," said Jack, reaching across the table and taking her hand in his.
"I'm not the only one who has a way with words am I?" she whispered, mirroring his smile and holding his gaze for a moment. "Before you put me on such a high pedestal though, make sure you can reach me."
"If I have to, I'll learn to fly," he said.
"Wouldn't a ladder be more practical?"
"That depends, are there ladders which lead directly to Angels?" he asked.
The question hung, unanswered, in the silence between them, as she felt the heat in the room rise, radiating from her cheeks, flushed pink as they were. The world started to fall away from them as she squeezed his hand.
And that is when he screamed.
She didn't know how or why, but she watched his flesh burn, caught in the flame of the second candle. That was when everything started to melt away. The restaurant, the steak, the romance and the dream of another life away from all of this for both of them.
Jack lay on the bed across from her, flailing and screaming and she watched helplessly as a couple of nurses came into her room to sedate him, because apparently that was the only sane solution they ever had in this place. He fought bravely against it for a while, longer than she expected, but they would not let a few kicks and the gnashing of his teeth deter them from their ultimate goal.
He was no longer human, just a dog somebody had abandoned and somebody else had locked away with her here.
