There’s a lot of things that I’ve done here in the IWF.
I’ve won the Man of Steel Championship.
A flashback to January 26th, 2014, the Pay Per View was Metamorphosis, and I was taking on Killian Creed for the Man of Steel Championship.
{Killian struggles around, showing a bit of strength but soon the hold takes its toll and he drops to a knee. His free arm still shows signs of life, but it eventually fades and goes limp.}
Terri Morasco: This could be it here folks. It looks like Creed is out.
Vasco Dias: His hand needs to drop three times!
{The referee checks the first time and the hand drops, the crowd counting along with him!}
Crowd: ONE!
{The hand drops a second time…}
Crowd: TWO!
{The referee holds the hand up a little longer as if it were a dramatic pause. Laszlo wrenches back on the modified Octopus Stretch as he screams “GIVE UP!” The referee lets go of the hand and it drops a third and final time as the referee signals for the bell and the crowd cheers.}
Terri Morasco: Mike Laszlo has done it. After all of this time he has become the Man of Steel Champion!
Vasco Dias: He should probably let go of the hold.
{Laszlo isn’t letting go despite the bell ringing. Alexis runs down the ramp from the back and convinces him quickly to let go as the referee walks over with the title belt.}
Alison Valance: Here is your winner and NEEEEEEEEW IWF MAN OF STEEL CHAMPION…MIIIIIIIIIIIIKE LASZLOOOOOOOOOOO!
{The referee hands the belt to the new champion who is hugged by his girlfriend as the two celebrate and the referee checks on Creed. “Cult of Personality” plays over the sound system as Mike celebrates to the crowd.}
The scene pauses as my voice is heard again.
I’ve won the Heir to the Throne when not a single person thought I would.
Another flashback, this time to, July 27th, 2014, the Lineage PPV, the Heir to the Throne Finals, Me, one on one with Xavier Cross.
{ Mike staggers to his feet and begs Cross to stand up, he does and Mike spins him around and lifts him up for MALICIOUS INTENT! Laszlo covers and ONE! TWO! THREE!!! }
Vasco Dias: Mike Laszlo has done it! He’s won the Heir to the Throne and a shot at Angel next month!
Terri Morasco: That match was awesome! Cross and Laszlo put on a real show tonight and I think proved that IWF is truly the best wrestling in the world!
Vasco Dias: Absolutely! And Mike Laszlo may very well be the best in the world!
Again a pause as I soak in perhaps the biggest moment of my career at that time before my voice was heard again.
That guided me to toppling a supposed “God” and winning the Imperial Championship.
Another flashback, this time to Survival of the Fittest, November 23, 2014, the Extinction Event...we were down to two...me...and Angel.
{ Mike pulls Angel to his feet and sets him up for a snap suplex but Angel lands on is feet and spins Mike around into the GENECIDE KICK!!! }
Vasco Dias: NO!!!
{ Angel quickly covers him! ONE! TWO! THR-KICK OUT!!!! }
Vasco Dias: I don't believe it! Angel was less than a second from retaining and Laszlo managed to kick out!
Terri Morasco: I don't know where he's finding the strength to keep going.
Vasco Dias: Me either.
{ Angel looks upset now as he slowly pulls Laszlo to his feet. He goes to send him into the corner but Laszlo gets his boot up and back elbows Angel to the face. Laszlo spins around with a discus lariat and pulls Angel right into the MALICIOUS INTENT!!!! }
Vasco Dias: THAT HAS TO BE IT!
{ Laszlo doesn't cover him, instead he brings him to the middle of the ring and locks him into the ENTANGLEMENT!!! }
Vasco Dias: I don't believe it, Laszlo is going for the submission finish with the Entanglement! Could we see Angel tap out for the first time ever!?
Terri Morasco: I have no idea!
{ Laszlo wrenches him with everything he's got and lets out a loud yell as the crowd chants tap. Verona checks on Angel again and again as he refuses to give up but the pain is getting to him. }
Vasco Dias: Angel literally has no where to go!
Terri Morasco: I can't believe I'm seeing this!
{ Angel can't escape and Laszlo isn't letting go. Angel screams at the top of his lungs as Laszlo yells "TAP!!!!" }
Vasco Dias: I think he's going to give up!
{ ANGEL CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE AND HE TAPS OUT!!!! }
Vasco Dias: OH MY GOD!!!!
Terri Morasco: I DON'TB BELIEVE IT!!!
{ Laszlo lets go and drops to his knees as Verona holds his hand up, he can't believe it as the entire crowd loses it's mind and begins to cheer wildly. Angel rolls away and drops out of the ring as Verona retrieves the belt. }
Alison Valance: Your winner and NEW IWF WORLD CHAMPION!!!!! MIKE LASZLO!!!!!
Vasco Dias: I never thought I'd hear those words!
Teri Morasco: Me either... It's incredible!!!
{ Verona hands Laszlo the belt and holds his hand up again. Mike kneels for a few minutes as Alexis charges into the ring and drops down next to him, wrapping her arms around him and kissing him. }
Vasco Dias: This is huge, Mike Laszlo has just ended Angel's reign of terror as the World Champion.
Terri Morasco: More than that, he avenged Alexis Caffrey and finally broke through the glass ceiling!
Vasco Dias: What an incredibly beautiful moment for Mike Laszlo and Alexis Caffrey.
{ Mike finally comes to and hugs Alexis with the belt before getting to his feet. He leads her to the corner and climbs up onto the second rope and hoists the championship high over his head as Cult of Personality plays and confetti is dropped from the ceiling. Pyro explodes in the background as the entire arena cheers for Mike Laszlo, the new IWF World Champion. }
Another pause and again my voice is heard.
That moment, the time where I believed myself to be at the top of the mountain...was simply indescribable. I want that feeling again...I crave it. I almost had it when I won the Joker In The Pack in 2015 at Night of the Immortals.
Here we go, one more time...May 31, 2015, the biggest show in our company, and perhaps the world of professional wrestling as a whole...Night...of the Immortals.
{Mike climbs the ladder on the opposite side and the two meet at the top. Both starts swinging wildly as the ladder sways. Rob grabs Mike and slams him face first into the ladder. Mike stumbles as Rob reaches up. Mike punches Rob in the gut, then, holding the ladder, swings his leg up and kicks Rob in the side of the head. Both are woozy, each stopping the other from attempts at the case as Alexis Caffrey runs down to ringside.}
Vasco Dias: Oh crap, what is she doing here?
Terri Morasco: Who knows?
{Rob gets the better of Mike atop the ladder, and grabs him by the head, looking for a Diamond Cutter from the top of the ladder.}
Vasco Dias: DON’T DO THAT! YOU’LL KILL HIM!
Terri Morasco: That may be what has to be done in the mind of Rob Diamond.
{Rob sets it up as the crowd eggs him on until Alexis slides into the ring and climbs up the ladder, grabbing hold of Rob’s foot. She pleads with Rob as the crowd boos. She climbs a few more rungs up the ladder, begging Rob not to do it. The camera pans in and Rob can be heard yelling at Alexis.}
Rob Diamond: WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY BITCH!?!?
{A loud “OOOOOOOOOOOOHHHH!!!” again goes through the crowd as Alexis’ eyes immediately narrow, and she tilts her head with the meanest of intentions before swinging her arm upward between the legs of Rob Diamond!}
Terri Morasco: WHAT THE HELL!?
Vasco Dias: Serves him right!
Terri Morasco: How do you figure!?
Vasco Dias: He called her crazy.
{Laszlo looks down at his fiancé who now has a smile on her face. Mike flashes an evil grin of his own before shoving Rob in the back OFF THE LADDER! Rob does a flip in mid-air and crashes through the ladder Mike setup on the outside, breaking it in half!}
The Crowd: HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT!
Vasco Dias: That’s what I’m talking about!
Terri Morasco: You’re sick! They may have killed that man.
{Rob is motionless on the outside as Mike perches himself atop the ladder, reaches up, and grabs the briefcase, the bell ringing and him laughing as the winner is announced.}
Alison Valance: Here is your winner of the Joker in the Pack Match…MIIIIIKE LASZLOOOOO!
{“Cult of Personality” blares throughout the stadium as Alexis climbs a few more rungs, celebrating with her fiancé atop the ladder as the crowd boos. EMTs are around the ring, checking on the other competitors as each took a hard fall toward the end of the match.}
Vasco Dias: MIKE LASZLO IS THE JOKER IN THE PACK WINNER!
Terri Morasco: Champion watch out. With this new attitude, this new brutality, that’s a dangerous man.
{The scene fades on Mike and Alexis atop the ladder as we get ready for the next match.}
There’s a pause as I’m shown atop the ladder with the contract in hand and a huge smile on my face.
I thought that was my moment. I thought to myself, then and there, despite what others may think, that in one year’s time, I was going to cash that sucker in. Ends up, I get hurt and that plan was forced into action with no alternative. Night of the Immortals came around again and I had Roberto Verona ready to tap in the center of the ring when The Ace stopped that from happening.
The scene flashes and there you see me sitting on the turnbuckle of a ring in my gym in Cleveland. There’s a hood draped over my head as I’m staring at the canvas beneath me.
I want that feeling again. I want to stand atop the mountain again and feel that sense of accomplishment...and there’s only one way to garner that opportunity. To get my shot at glory again, I have to do the one damn thing I haven’t done in this company.
I look up at the camera set up in the center of the ring, beads of sweat covering my forehead.
Win the Roulette.
I point to my side as if pointing at all of the other competitors who stand between me and the thing that I want the most.
TWENTY-NINE GUYS STAND IN MY WAY!
My tone dials down a bit.
Twenty-nine other men want to stop me from achieving the one thing left, the one obstacle in my way of possibly going down as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time...and twenty-nine other men will fail.
I don’t give a damn if it’s Steve Awesome I have to go through, Spike Kane, hell, Davey Ortega and Lex Sense can crawl out of the holes they’ve been hiding in for the last few years, Roberto Verona can climb out of his office chair, and Angel himself can descend from the fucking heavens, and yet, they’d still all...FAIL!
There’s one man entering that Roulette with the motivation, the skill, the expertise, and the know how to win, and you’re looking at him. There are no outside distractions for me. There are no side stories to tell. I want to walk to that ring and throw anyone left up and over that damn top rope.
I want my hand raised in victory.
I want my shot at the Imperial Championship at Night of the Immortals.
I want to not only headline the event...as I did last year...I want to end it with a bang. I want to become a two time Imperial Champion and you can look dead in these two eyes and know...there’s not a damn person in this company that’s going to stop me.
I jump down from the turnbuckle with a thud.
It all goes back to an old saying I preached once upon a time…
WANT!
TAKE!
HAVE!
And that’s EXACTLY what’s going to happen at High Stakes, and there’s only two things the rest of the world can do about it...nothing...and like it.
I take a few steps forward and shut off the feed plunging your screen into total darkness.
I’ve won the Man of Steel Championship.
