Another sad chapter in the life and career of James Gilmore has apparently been written.
Earlier this morning, before IWF conducted its annual High Stakes pay-per-view event, I have learned that the 41-year-old former two-time IWF Strongstyle and Men's World Champion has officially filed for divorce from his wife, IWF Travel Coordinator Yulia Malakova. According to The Dallas Morning News, Mr. Gilmore was seen leaving the Tarrant County Courthouse wearing a suit and tie and appearing to be clean-shaven and slimmer than how he was before his last match with Nick Knight.
He did not elaborate details of the divorce with the media, citing emotional and mental health reasons. He also didn't elaborate on whether or not he'd ever return to the wrestling ring again following his January heart attack. No details on who would share custody of JJ's two children, Luke Reagan and Leia Melania, have been announced as of yet.
I can confirm, however, that Mr. Gilmore has, and will for the foreseeable future, taken a leave of absence from his other primary duties as the head trainer of the Revolution Texas Wrestling and Martial Arts Academy. Hall of Famer Fiona McFly and JJ's older brother Johnny -- a former independent wrestler for over 20 years -- have agreed to fill in for the venerable IWF star as co-head trainers at Academy during his absence. The pair will split equal time both training students and running the Academy's day-to-day operations.
Will JJ ever make it back into the ring again? Only time can answer that...
