Post Sacrifice
We cut to Tiffany Jones backstage, with a microphone in hand. She’s standing by with Shea O’Hara, who has a towel around her neck, mopping up sweat from her brow.
Tiffany Jones: Shea, you just had your first IWF match in five years and came up short. Your Heiress To The Throne has ended a lot sooner than anybody expected, due to a tough first round draw. What’s next? I assume you won’t be taking Miss Fenix’s advice and heading home?
Shea takes a deep breath, composing herself.
Shea O’Hara: You know Tiffany, so many of our colleagues boil everything down to wins and losses, seeking only immediate gratification. Chasing the highs of the adrenalin rush that comes from victory and discounting almost everything else. But you know, considering the fact that I never thought I’d be able to do this again, I’d say I did pretty darn well out there tonight. Sure, I can no longer take the most direct road to Brooklyn and her World Championship anymore, but if there’s one thing this life and this business has taught me it is that where there’s a will, there’s a way. And believe me Tiffany, there are few wills in this business that can measure up to the iron in mine…
Tiffany Jones: That Irish fire you talked about, I suppose?
Shea smiled.
Shea O’Hara: Exactly, Tiffany, exactly. See, looking at what happened out there, purely in terms of the end result would be such a Fenix thing to do, and I’m sure Jennie is already looking far too ahead of herself. In her mind, as is so tragically characteristic of the rest of her egomaniacal family, I bet her being the Heiress is definitely a foregone conclusion now. But I prefer a more realistic, balanced outlook. The fact is yes, I lost my first match in five years, but it was in the greatest tournament in the history of this company. Not only that, but IWF management trusted me enough to not only go out there and headline my first Sacrifice in half a decade but also to do it against a former Women’s World Champion. How can I be disappointed by that? Losing may have knocked my professional pride a little, but there is no shame in losing to the calibre of athlete that all Fenixes are…
Tiffany Jones: So if there are to be no excuses, which is a refreshingly healthy attitude to have in this business, by the way, what do you attribute your loss to?
Shea O’Hara: Ring rust. Plain and simple, like. You saw out there, I was a split second too slow on the kick out, which means I need to shore up my sense of timing and ring awareness better for my next match. And I will do exactly that, because that’s what I’ve learned to do the hard way for most of my in-ring career. I learn my lessons and come back stronger. Jennie may have knocked me out of the hunt for the Heiress for another year, but my hunt for Brooklyn, and my quest to stand against The Murder is not something any single woman on the roster can take me out of. I will be at Diamonds Are Forever, and one way or another, I will stand face to face against Brooklyn and I will not flinch, I promise you. You see Tiffany, the one thing all of those bitches in The Murder need to realise is that unlike when The Pack took me out in 2018, in 2023, I truly have nothing left to lose and everything to gain. In short, watch your back, Brooklyn. This ain’t over until I say it’s over…bitch!
Shea flashes a smile at Tiffany before walking off.
