It's not Brooklyn, but it's close.
One thing people never take into account is the road, or air travel, between aching muscles, gym trips and physio checks you also have fans waiting for you at airports or coach stations, photography , magazines interviews and public statements.
With Great power ect, ect, You know how it goes.
Nat's eyes danced over the screen as she watched the catch up feed of her match, Unlike some of her peers she'd taken to watching tape and she felt herself frown before things had even started, the rumble of plane engines joining the commentary.
Terri Morasco: You haven't even seen her wrestle yet.
Vasco Dias: I don't need to. She has flipper energy.
They'd warned her about Vasco, it was his job to get under people's skin, she'd even remembered getting heated at the referee showing some blatant favoritism, the heat of the moment meaning she'd stuck the Tsuchigumo with a little more stank than usual that night. Wanting to make sure the slow count was counted, the glare still thrown the ref's way after the fact.
It didn't make it sting any less, either way here she was the new girl. Counting her blessings and watching the sky between the screen as memories traced to remind her how she'd ended up here.
Live in the now, Natasha, What was is what was.
The rumble of engines and ambient noise cradled her into sleep and the blissful Embrace of Memory.
Sapporo , Japan , 19th August, 2023.
It hadn't been her proudest moment, and Rini had put up a fight, Hearing the jeers and cajoles with the mask about her face she span the kendo stick in he hand even as she picked Rini up and shoved away one of the others to hook in the fisherman's.
She wasn't anyone's assassin and she certainly wasn't out to hurt the girl. Something about Neo Honshuu's 'exciting opportuntiy' had felt off from the start. Turns out it was replacing somebody who was out the door and ensuring her best friend was given the correct 'message' on her way out too, a demotion form where she currently was in essence.

A bridge burned for the betterment of her soul even though she'd done some of the job asked of her.
But the argument after had not helped, harsh words exchanged in Japanese, Threats made, Intimated Natasha had stared the promoter dean and torn up the contract she hadn't signed herself.
Back to Bubblegum crash, better to sit right with who you were than play the games of fame.
There had been the smallest whisper of her that told her that was a stupid decision, but she brushed it aside.
The future couldn't come soon enough.
Brooklyn, New York. - Now
She could spare the hour it took form a Long Island hotel to Brooklyn, reliving her old stomping grounds before her inevitable escape half way across the world, you could take the woman out the city ....But the sights and sounds of Brooklyn were always a reminder of just how much faster things went.
Home is where the heart is, so they say, and her heart was still aiming for the stars
But there was something soothing about the bustle of New York, it contrasted against the constant hum of the city that never sleeps, the noise the life that pulsed in every footstep.
Did I mention the smell? You got used to it, but you never really forgot it.
She was sat in the little diner, legs crossed at the ankle and sipping on that Basic bitch latte, idly reminiscence about al the things she had given up, and all the things she had lived just in the neighborhood she hadn't seen in 3 years , since she'd cut out dance and Gym and dedicated to wrestling, shelling out cash to jump over an ocean and become something different when New York had told her in its own subtle way it was time to go.
Yet here it was welcoming her back, and family was running late.
Again.
Paitence.
Natasha huffed her breath looking at her watch again even as she licked her lips before the other brown haired woman slid in and moved excitedly to her table, her sister, actual full blood sister older and apparently wiser, Megan. Glasses on her face and dressed like the fellow nerd she was.
"Omg! Nat! Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey! Sorry I'm late, traffic..Mom says hi!"
Nat made a soft noise of non-commitment as she chuckles.
"You've been living in New York your whole life and you still get held up by traffic..You and your luck Meg."
I could bore you with the whole conversation, but the reality is we've all been in conversations with family you don't really want to have.
we've all wanted to claw and escape and get back to the lives we've formed for ourselves.
we've all wanted to claw and escape and get back to the lives we've formed for ourselves.
"'Ey! Earth to Nat."
Meg snapped her fingers once twice, three times as Natasha came back form, whatever idle thing Meg had been talking about some drama she had half tuned out about people she had spent just under half a decade forgetting they even existed, and no where was her own sister clicking her fingers at her as Nat's attention had drifted to the traffic outside.

"I lost you again, didn't I? Same old Natasha; half way to the next destination by the time the rest of us catch up."
Nat felt herself smile as she rubbed at her nose, Meg always did have a way of pegging her exact mood.

"Yeah Sorry Meg, Just thinking about, well work They keep things moving pretty quick, I sometimes have trouble keeping up. Crossing the world in less than a week to wrestle in front of thousands it...It still hasn't really sunk in and I dunno if it's ever going to. So the home drama I left behind is just kinda....Not important anymore?"
Meg put a hand on top of her sisters and squeezed with a chuckle.
"You live in the New York Minute, don't cha? all just that means a part of you neva left home just don' be a stranger eh?"
Nat chuckles and put a small envelope down on the table sliding the tickets towards her sister with a wry smile.
"Like you'd let me."
As annoying as family was, they were still family.
Nat swings her feet as the camera watching her looking over the city of New York, a soft fade out to various sight and sounds all the hits, Times Square, lady Liberty, The Brooklyn bridge before we then settle on Long Island and the Montauk Point Lighthouse in the background Nat sat on a bench and watching the ocean..
"When I was a kid we used to come out here and...what am I saying I still -am- a kid."
She gestures at the ocean with a hand and grins.
"Its pretty though isn't it? Long Island isn't far form my old stomping grounds, closest I've been to where I grew up in...Forever but I think I said last week ya'll don;t care about the Origin story, lets focus on the good news Last week I showed up, showed out and Impressed, well Some of you. I heard what you said Vasco, you think it's so easy I'd -love- for your ass to step up and actually apply a hold."
She shook her head running her hands though her hair
"I know, just doing your job, but you're an ass and I don't think anyone has told you that recently. so here I am...Telling you that. Get it?, Got it? Good."
She stands up slowly swinging her arms as that nervous energy starts to seep through, that and it's cold here shaking off the ocean winter breeze with a huff of dragon's breath.
"Brings me to my opponent this week, who has not had the best time of it recently has she? This business moves quickly and she'll be looking to stick a fork in me and show she can impress play the trumpets, go home celebrate but we both know that in ideal world, we'd both walk away proud of what we do; this isn't ideal."
She lets loose a little chuckle and rubs her hands together breathing into them to keep off the winter chill, already a little more red in the face.
"You're a hell of a competitor, you're a fighter, scrappy even but scrappy isn't cutting it for you and I just got here I can't let my ass get dropped by you Dawn, this business moves at the New York minute, and the light just turned green, I'm hitting my horn, you gonna get outta my way...?"
She gives a wider grin and tilts her head.
"Or do I gotta go through you, scrappy? I'm sensing the latter, so We do our job, don;t we? We step out and we're in front of your home crowd and I'm from just over the water, it's going to be a long night sister and I hate to step on anyone."

She lets loose a long, long sigh as her chest rises and falls and she gets a little serious.
"But I can't let that distract me form the fact I gotta show the IWF I'm worth takin' seriously, I gotta send the warning lights across the division and I already asked you keep up...So..Keep up Scrappy, or you gonna get left behind, gonna fade 'way and that's no way to go."
She did a little jump on the spot warming up again and looking to the camera with a chuckle.
"So lets give the home state crowd a show they can be proud of Dawn, lets show the world a real fight , or it's going to be a short night for you because I only just got started and I'm getting faster I'll be seeing you soon, scrappy lets see what the night brings huh?"
A bright grin as she caps a salute to the camera and then a peace sign.

"Later!"
