We cut to Shea O’Hara and Charlotte Shimizu backstage. The two women seem to be engaged in a conversation, hands clasped in a mutual and firm handshake as we join them.
Charlotte Shimizu: That was fun!
Shea O’Hara: Totally! I’m already looking forward to the next time we lock up out there. Thanks again for giving me one of my best matches and for agreeing to meet Moira. I’ll be in touch with the arrangements, I want to surprise her…
Charlotte nodded and smiled politely before they are interrupted by intrepid IWF interviewer, Tiffany Jones, who is here to get an official word on Shea’s chosen stipulation for her match at Metamorphosis this Sunday.
Charlotte graciously takes her leave and we are left to focus on Shea and Tiffany.
Tiffany Jones: Shea, pardon the interruption but earlier tonight, we saw a spectacular match between you and Charlotte Shimizu. You not only managed to pick up an important victory out there. You went almost 20 minutes out there, and with seconds to spare you managed to overcome the Beat The Clock challenge. More importantly, Serenity wrestled to a time limit draw against La Bolsa, meaning you get to decide your fate for your upcoming match at the Pay-Per-View this Sunday, how do you feel about that?
Shea takes a deep breath, and smiles.
Shea O’Hara: Pretty gosh darn gracious actually, Tiffany. See, if Serenity hadn’t used every last second of her allocated twenty minutes out there, I wouldn’t have been able to give Charlotte a real match, worthy of our time. I would have felt rushed and gotten sloppy and possibly blown my chance to determine the exact terms of my future as the undisputed holder of the Queen’s Gambit briefcase, like.
Shea grins.
Shea O’Hara: See, time has revealed Serenity Holmes to be exactly the kind of big mouthed bitch that infests this business. The kind who talk a big talk, and think the only way to get ahead in this business is to run down everybody, because that’s the only way the truly miserable know to make themselves feel better. She underestimated me, she underestimated La Bolsa and most crucially of all, she overestimated herself. Like, a little confidence I can respect, even admire, but when you cross the line into unbridled arrogance and hubris, I tune you out ‘cause I know then that you’re just a dope who isn’t worth my time or energy.
Tiffany Jones: In any event, the chips appear to have fallen in your favour. Your victory means you have earned the right to dictate the terms of your one-on-one rematch at Metamorphosis against Serenity to settle who is the rightful holder of the 2024 Queen’s Gambit briefcase. A case that contains a contract that is valid for up to a year for an eligible championship shot of your choosing. So, please Shea, don’t keep us in suspense. What type of match are you selecting?
Shea smirks.
Shea O’Hara: Well, since Serenity failed to seize the opportunity to force me to compete in a one-on-one ladder match like she whined about on social media, now I’m going to give her something actually worth crying about, when I force her to submit and show the world live on Pay-Per-View this Sunday why I truly have no quit in me and am one of the most gifted technicians in the game today. At Metamorphosis, I will leave absolutely no doubt as to not only who the superior wrestler is between us like, but also no question who truly earns that Championship contract…
Shea pauses for a moment.
Shea O’Hara: At Metamorphosis, Tiffany, it will be Serenity Holmes versus Shea O’Hara, one on one in a Submission Match. No pinfalls, no opportunistic landings or timed challenges. Just a good clean, decisive finish where one of us is forced to tap out and leave no question as to who the better in-ring competitor is between us…
Shea walks out of shot with that declarative statement, leaving Tiffany alone to wrap things up.
Tiffany Jones: Well, there you have it IWF fans, between this Submission Match, a Last Man Standing Match and a Dragon’s Den Match, all already announced, Metamorphosis is shaping up to be one hell of a show where several long standing issues will be definitely settled. Don’t miss it, the first live Pay Per View of 2024, this Sunday, streaming live and exclusive on the IWF Network…
