Before the feed shows more than a black screen, Charlotte’s voice is heard.
“Oh I’ve been angry… If y’all knew the load of bullcrap Neo-Honshu wanted me to pull in the match they had scheduled for me against Rini, you might understand… but then again, every woman here, barring a few notable exceptions, has proven they’re selfish beyond the bounds of stupidity! Do y’all enjoy making Security earn hazard pay?”
“Serenity Holmes, if you’re the future of womens’ wrestling, I’d rather go back in time to when Pailson-Carlson was good. You can’t even wait for your own match, you had to interfere with mine? Bitch, you were already on my list. Now, you’re just jockeying with She Of Misplaced Grudges, Brooklyn Madrox, for the top spot.”
“Speaking of our former Women’s Champion… You do realize, Brooky, that unless you wanna start fighting your buddies’ matches for them, you’re not protecting them; you are crippling them. Hey Mai, April and Vivianne! I hope you’re hearing this. Your ‘leader’ just wants all the glory to herself by ‘protecting’ you all from anyone that would ‘hurt’ you.” Charlotte’s expression turns mocking with feigned pity and concern. “After all, she just wants to keep you safe. Clearly you can’t take any bumps from anyone. Y’all’re such fragile creatures.” Sarcasm drips from her words, thick like honey and saccharine with mock-sweetness. “Every victory you have will be hers, whether in truth or with her name as an asterisk beside yours, and if y’all can’t see that, y’all’re more naive or brainwashed than I thought. By the way, where was Brooklyn while your other friends were attacked? Just asking, but really… don’t y’all think she protests a lil too much that someone outside the Murder did this?”
Charlotte pauses in her pacing, taking a few moments to inhale and exhale deeply several times.
“Itami-sama… Itami, Itami, Itami…” Charlotte finally continues, her tone calmer and now sadly resigned. “I still wish I could help you. Maybe joy is beyond your grasp, but where is your pride in a job well done? What is holding you back from living as more than a shadow? Do you even know?”
Charlotte flops into a chair, revealing more of the nondescript and unfamiliar room she’s in. “I could go on for hours like this, calling out everyone by name… but frankly, if you don’t already know who you are, then you’re part of the problem. What y’all seem to have forgotten is how we’re supposed to act in this business. There are rules. There are heroes, and villains. There are a bunch of wrestlers who think they’re heroes, when in reality? They’re just whiny brats who didn’t get an extra scoop of ice cream. Heroes are supposed to react to the villains, defend those who are weaker, and respect their opponents. Villains are the ones who interfere with matches; the ones who denigrate everyone else and are all surprised-pikachu-face when the match doesn’t go their way; the ones who cheat to win.”
Charlotte rises, letting haori stay draped on her chair. “What IWF needs right now… Is heroes to keep the villains in line. They might win some times, but they won’t win forever, and I, for one, will not let them win the heart of IWF. They can try to interfere in matches, but I promise them this: I will be there with security to put them down like the rabid bitches they are.”
“I know I’m not alone in this. The Murder, Serenity Holmes… They can try to silence me, but there will be others to take up the banner. The rest of you need to decide which side of history you wanna stand on… The Heroes? Or the Villains?”
Charlotte’s hand comes up to cover the lens of the camera. The feed cuts. The video is later released in Japanese and Cherokee languages.
“Never before have I been so disgusted.”
In the flash of a rising sun, Charlotte is shown, a haori draped over her shoulders with her ring gear underneath. Her face is set like stone, but her eyes flash gold with fire as she paces before the camera, setting the overcoat fluttering around her.“Oh I’ve been angry… If y’all knew the load of bullcrap Neo-Honshu wanted me to pull in the match they had scheduled for me against Rini, you might understand… but then again, every woman here, barring a few notable exceptions, has proven they’re selfish beyond the bounds of stupidity!
