Vivienne Rodgers had planned four weddings. Two of them crashed and burned during the engagement process. The two weddings that went through were lovely… though one had ended in divorce and the other was running headlong into divorce if the way Dean and Warren were acting was any indication. Vivienne Rodgers was convinced she was cursed. She had to pick a new theme, a new color set, food, catering, decor, cake style, cake flavor, another wedding dress, and bridesmaid outfits. Invitations. Asking and picking bridesmaids. She couldn’t pick anything out.
She was cursed. She wanted to be married so badly but choosing anything to do with the wedding made her start to freak out and ended with her crying in the car. She wasn’t sure she could take it. Vivienne had been through all this before, her previous fiancés had no real interest in trying to help her get anything for the big day. Weddings were always more about the bride’s big day, weren’t they? She couldn’t ask Cyrus for help, could she?
That made her tears flow more. What was she going to do?
Her phone rang, and a quick check of the Caller ID, it was an unknown number.
“Hello?”
“G’day, is this Vivienne Rodgers?”
“Yes, who is this?” Vivienne sniffed back tears as best she could, composing herself quickly.
“My name is Leila Somerville, I understand you’re coming ta Aus in a couple of months ta get married. Your fiancé, Cyrus Daniels thought you could use my help as a professional weddin’ planner ta make sure the big day goes off without a hitch.”
“Cyrus called you?” Vivienne asked confused, “Really?”
“Of course. I am under explicit instructions to make whatever you want for your big day happen, Miss Rodgers. He said nothing is more important to you than your dream day, and that nothing is more important to him than makin’ your dreams come true. I can certainly see why you’re marryin’ him. You’re very lucky.”
Vivienne smiled and felt the tears again, “That…yes, he’s perfect. Uh well I guess I want kind of a fairytale wedding near uh…a waterfall?”
“That sounds more than reasonable,” Leila said. “Did you have a specific waterfall in mind? We have a number of them, depending on what part of the country you’re visiting.”
“I’ll be honest I’m open to suggestions. I’ve only seen photos.” Vivienne mentioned, “But if there is one you think looks the prettiest?”
“Well, I understand that Mr Daniels is a Queensland native. Queensland also happens to be home to the largest waterfall in Australia, Wallaman Falls in Girringun National Park. It has a 980 feet plunge. Would that be of interest?”
“That sounds perfect.” Vivienne beamed, “Do you think green and gold as a color scheme would work?”
“Combined with the waterfall, would it be fair to say you are looking for a nature themed wedding, Miss Rodgers? It is certainly adventurous to want something other than traditional white. Will Mr Daniels be complimenting your chosen colour scheme as well?”
“Well, we’ve already had kids and I don’t think I can get away with white.” Vivienne laughed, “But yeah, and I’d like him to match.”
“Oh congratulations. Then, I don’t think you need to worry about him not matching, it sounds like he already matches you well. Honestly, we only spoke for about twenty minutes, I’ve never heard a bloke sound so passionate or in love. Most of them leave everything up to the bride.”
“He’s honestly so amazing. Like finding a soulmate.” Vivienne gushed. “This is so thoughtful of him and I just… God, I was just having a panic attack about trying to plan all this.”
“He said it’s always been hard for you to ask for help, especially when you need it, but he knew ‘cause he knows you. Believe me, it can be very stressful. I do it for a career because I love it, but I still get stressed sometimes. We do have lots to consider. What about tailoring for both you and Mr Daniels? Music? Photography? Catering? Decor? With the vow exchange at a waterfall, we need to consider arrangements for the reception too.”
“Yeah, Tailoring will be important, want everything to fit. Photography I’m not really sure what kind of shots to like aim for but I would like someone who knows how to save a memory so when we look back in like 50 years we can see how in love we are. Catering is it possible to keep the food kosher? Décor and reception I think a Rapunzel theme. Music… I’m gonna have to talk to Cyrus about it.”
The camera comes on to Vivienne sitting on a park bench as the twins are seen playing in the background while her four dogs running around.
“There is one thing about this business that somethings never change. Oh every few months a new person enters the company, points at the stars, and promises that they will be the one to change how everything works. That they are going to be the ones to change the company. They are starting over and there is nothing and no one who can stop them from fulfilling their dreams.” Vivienne smiles but it doesn’t reach her eyes as she shakes her head. “More often then not they are the ones who change. The company stays the same. I fought The Pack from the moment I made my debut. I fought with every fiber of my being. I risked it all multiple times to try and stop women like Brooklyn and Rowan from taking over the division. Do you want to know what that got me?”
“Broken bones. Lost friends. Watching my at the time fiancé turn into someone I didn’t recognize and having my life ruined. I threw myself into the meat grinder again and again. I tried over and over again to stop what was happening. But you want to know what I accomplished?” Vivienne looks back at the twins as they laugh playing with the dogs. “Jack shit. I beat Rowan for the title only to lose it on my first defense to Eternity. Despite everything I worked for and sacrificed do you know who took the credit for ending The Pack? Being Infamous. Who didn’t risk a goddamned thing? They came in at the last minute and claimed victory because Roberto beat Dean Harper.”
Vivienne clenches her fists, “Was Roberto even in their faction? No.”
Vivienne closes her eyes and tries to center herself, “But that’s in the past, what does it have to do with this coming match?”
“Enemies. I understand both Charlotte and Rini see The Murder and want to stop it from doing anything. They don’t like what we are about. They don’t like that we want to find who injured our sisters. They want us to back off. I admire it, I do. I can’t speak for Brooklyn or April or even Mai. I can only speak for myself. I want this company to be better. Rowan showed me I could be more than I was and I could stop pretending to be someone I thought people would like. Someone took her out. She helped me and even with our history, I want to avenge her. She deserves that. Whatever enemy comes forward I will find who hurt Astrid, Virginia, and Rowan. I will get answers even if I have to drown this place in blood to get it.”
Vivienne opened her eyes and crossed her legs, “I will not rest until I find out who did this. I will question every person in this company. Even if I have to beat the answers out of people. I know it may take time. I might have a lot of enemies by the time I’m done. More might even pour from the woodwork. But I’ve handled worse. I can handle this.”
Vivienne leans forward, hands on her lap, "But I see this as…An opportunity. A chance not just to find the one who hurt my sisters in The Murder but a chance to remind everyone that I earned my place in the Hall of Fame. It’s nothing personal, East Wind. It’s about sending a message. You are the canvas. I am the pen.”
