Fallout: Legacy 2015
The Ace and Kathleen Conway emerge from behind the curtain after the Man Of Steel Championship match, carrying a roulette rake still soaked in the fresh blood of his opponent, Andrew Jacobsen. Jake's wrist tape and knuckles also tell the story of one of the most vicious and brutal attacks ever orchestrated in the history of the company.
The couple look tremendously pleased with themselves despite the fact that The Ace had just lost a title match and Kathy stops him and puts her arms around his neck, she leans in close and the two share a passionate kiss.
Maria Iniesta: Ace! Kathy!
The couple break their kiss and The Ace sighs, lamenting the interruption as they watch Maria run up to them with a microphone.
Maria Iniesta: Excuse me, I was just wondering if I could ask you both a few questions about what just happened out there and how you feel about losing the Man Of Stee -
The Ace: Woah, woah, woah, let me stop you right there sweetheart, alright? The first thing you and everybody else in this arena and all the other people watching at home right now need to understand is that I didn't lose a damn thing out there tonight. Not control, not a friend, not a match, hell not even a Championship...no, Maria, I didn't lose any of these things tonight. I sacrificed them!
The Ace grins sadistically as he proudly holds up his bloody rake in one hand.
The Ace: But I wasn't the only one forced to sacrifice something very important to him for something greater out there tonight. As great a price we pay for our failures, often times we pay an even greater one for our successes, and tonight Andrew Jacobsen traded blood for leather, and at a price far fairer than he himself has been lately.
A pause as The Ace lowers the bloody rake again.
The Ace: Andrew Jacobsen is a desperate man, he always was, and he always will be. He is so consumed with what his critics will make of his legacy that he has forgotten that his fans loved him in spite of it. I went out there tonight and showed him that there is so much more to a man's legacy than how many wins or losses he accumulates throughout his career. Every now and then you have to let one go for something greater...just like I have...
Maria looks confused.
Maria Iniesta: Something greater? What could possibly be greater than the right to call yourself a Champion?
The Ace: You obviously don't have children, do you Maria?
Maria Iniesta: No...what's that got to do with anything?
The Ace: Everything, Maria. Everything. Tonight, I made a sacrifice for my children. Andrew Jacobsen forced my hand, he made me do this, he left me with no choice but to show my daughter the horrible, ugly mess that all heroes become when they lose their way. Tonight, my daughter saw the raw and brutal truth of what happens when a magical North Star falls from her sky. It's been a tough lesson for them both, but one they both needed to learn.
Maria Iniesta: So are you saying you feel no sorrow, no remorse for what you just did out there?
The Ace sighs.
The Ace: Actually Maria, I am sorry. I am very sorry, in fact. I'm sorry that it had to come to this, I'm sorry I had to make this promise to end this to my little eight year old baby girl, and I'm even more sorry she had to see it. Let me ask you, how do you go home and tell a sweet little eight year old that everything she's ever believed in and looked up to a lie, Maria? How do you show her the cruel and harsh truth without seeing the tears in her eyes as she asks "Why, Daddy? Why?"
Maria Iniesta: I...I...don't know...
The Ace then looks directly into the camera and addresses his legacy on the other side of the lens, his daughter Solitaire.
The Ace: I did this all for you, pumpkin. I did this because I love you, you know that, don't you? I did this to show you that I'm not like Uncle Andy, and that you can always count on me. I will always be there. I will never leave you, not for all the titles in the world, not like Uncle Andy, I promise. He will never ever lie to you ever again, darling, I swear it!
With that The Ace shakes his head and sighs as he and Kathy walk off leaving Maria on her own as we slowly fade to black.
