19th June, 2017 - Regret
I haven’t felt so low in such a long time. In fact, I don’t think I felt this crap when Eternity broke my arm. I mean, yeah, it hurt, and I felt horrible. I felt like I wanted to quit and go home - which is probably what she wanted, but this...man, this is disgusting. I feel one hundred percent responsible for what happened to Astrid at Sacrifice. Rowan went out of her way to send me a message. It was nothing to do with winning a match, nothing to do with weakening the “enemy” or trying to expose a weakness, play the advantage…..that was purely for me to witness.
And I had no choice but to witness.
I felt sick.
Mission accomplished Rowan, you crazy bitch.
I know in your own twisted way you believe this is all about the Shield Maiden, but I can’t accept that anymore Rowan. You’ve gone too far, you’ve made things way too personal. You brought other people into this, and made innocent people suffer….all because you can’t get the job done yourself. Do you feel better about yourself now? Do you feel big? Do you feel strong? Yeah, you woman handled Astrid, and one of the best friends I’ve ever had ended up in the hospital with a concussion...what? Because you threw a temper tantrum? Because YOU! CANNOT! BEAT! ME!
It burns you up inside doesn’t it Rowan? Because you look at me, and you see someone weak. You see someone smaller than you, and you see her holding something shiny, something you want, so you think “hey! I’ll take that!” and you just can’t….because you keep failing to learn, I’ve been forged in battle. I’ve fought the toughest this division has to offer, and honey, they’ve come bigger, stronger, and scarier than you.
The thing is Rowan, you hurt my friend.
If you think I’m not coming at you with everything I have? You’re sorely mistaken. The Shield Maiden would almost be second in my mind if I didn’t have so much respect for this championship and everything it stands for, everything this division stands for, and this business in general. I’ve worked so hard to get where I am, and I’ll be damned if a bully like you is going to ruin that. I’m going to do what nobody has been able to do so far Rowan…..I’m going to beat you, once and for all. In the middle of that ring, I’m going to eliminate you from this match, and show the entire world, that standing up to a bully is the right thing to do.
You made things personal Rowan, and you’re going to learn, that you made a mistake.
I have the fury of a valkyrie behind me, but trust me, I won’t even need it.
You’re going to see what Eternity saw at Night of Immortals.
What Shea O’Hara is REALLY capable of.

She had been to see Astrid, and despite the words from her friend, the guilt still flooded through her system. Everything that Rowan did replayed through her mind, over and over. She sits on the end of the bed, the blanket all tussled and messed around her, as she swings her legs over the side of the bed, looking around the hotel room. With a start Will Fenell mumbles from his slumber.
Will: Sup’ babe? Can’t sleep?
Shea: ...I just keep seeing Astrid.
He prepositions himself, his head never leaving the pillow, but his arms moving to offer her some support. She closes her eyes for a second or two, but as she does, all she sees are flashes of her friends head being attack and they shoot wide open.
Shea: I’m sorry, I...I can’t…
She shakes her head and climbs to her feet, exhaling in frustration. He looks after her, longing to help, but he knows there is nothing he can do, and simply lower his face back into the pillow and tries to go back to sleep. She turns towards the en suite bathroom and takes a deep breath. Flicking the light switch she enters the bathroom.
FLICKER.
FLICKER.
Just as the light comes on, the mirro looking right back at Shea shows the reflection of Rowan MacDonnough, and for the briefest of moments she wants to scream, another side of her wants to smash the mirror. Yet something stops her, and as the lights flicker once more the image disappears. With a shake of her head she walks into the bathroom and begins to run the water,
“You’re losing your mind Shea….she’s in your head…...don’t let her get in your head….”
She reaches down and splashes some cold water over her face, allowing the cool water to run over her features. With a long and deep breath she looks up once more to see her reflection in the mirror, and gasps out loud, screaming as the reflection shows her hair smoldering, her face burning, her lips all but melting away, one of her eyes slowly melting out of it’s sockets. She frantically splashes water up at her face as footsteps can be heard coming from behind.
Will: Babe!? What!? What is it!?
Shea: FIRE!? OHMYGOD FIRE!
He comes up to her, calmly, and places his arms around her, stopping her from splashing water all over her face, hair, and clothes Placing his arms around hers and holding her there, she struggles at first, before he calms her down.
Will: There’s no fire girl…..it’s in yo’ head.
She looks back to the mirror, and he’s right, there is no fire. She turns to him, and leans into his naked chest, and sobs. Yes, she’s in her head…..but for how much longer?

Triple threat matches are never easy, especially when the odds are stacked against you. Do I expect this to be easy going into Bloody Assizes? Not a chance, but when do people ever excel when things are easy? Like I’ve said before; Diamonds are forged under pressure. Rowan is out for blood, and now Alicia Lukas has been thrown into the mix, and truly, truly, I feel sorry for you Alicia, I really do….because honestly? I think one on one, we’d put on an absolute classic for the ages, just like you and Eternity did.
Do you really think Rowan is going to let that happen?
Rowan wants to win, there’s no doubt about that. She wants to beat me, and she wants this belt. Hell, I don’t even think she’d be content to let you eliminate me, I think she’d want that pleasure all to herself. So you’re going to find yourself in a very tough situation come show time Alicia. A damned if you do, damned if you don’t type of scenario. She’s going to expect you to help her, but then she’s going to want you to take the fall when the time comes…
I don’t think you’re that type of woman.
You see, despite what you might have done, despite who you might be, I think you are a woman of honour, and I don’t see you lying down for anybody.
Besides, the lure of the Shield Maiden is too much for that, right?
I don’t dislike you Alicia…..but after what happened last week, I can’t let that slide, I can’t ignore you part in what took place. Yeah, what happens in the ring, happens in the ring, but that wasn’t a match, it was a mugging, and I’m coming for you as much as I’m coming for Astrid….so yeah, I know the odds are against me, I know my chances of retaining are slim, but you know what? I relish the competition. I relish the challenge. I have momentous shoes to fill as the Shield Maiden. No matter what people may say about Eternity, myself included, she was an incredible champion, and I have to try and live up to that. I hold this championship with respect, with admiration for those who came before me…
I’ll be damned if I let scum take it from me.
Hell, I guess I do dislike you after all hey Alicia? I guess giving my friend a concussion can have that effect on me. Either way, I’m a decent person, and I don’t believe in an eye for an eye….a good man once said that leaves the whole world blind. Instead I’ll make an example out of you the right way, by beating you fair and square, in the middle of the ring. I’ll do things the right way, and I’ll make my girl, my Shield-Sister proud. We’ll toast to victory, and drink all the mead in the hall.
We’ll raise our glasses to a victory well earned.
While you try and wipe the stains from your soul.
Maybe then, once all is said and done, you can get back in the ring and really earn yourself another shot, huh? I’ll continue to take on all comers, because that is what champions do. I’ll continue to defend this championship with the honour it deserves. I’ll continue to be the paragon this division deserves….and maybe, just maybe, I’ll mean something to someone out there in the world, and inspire them to do something right.
Because at the end of the day, that’s all I want.
