Differences that make us - 23rd August 2017
It’s quite strange for me to be preparing for a match that doesn’t have my Shield Maiden championship on the line. I’m not trying to brag, or even be egotistical, it’s just….when you’ve been holding this belt? Almost every single match you have is a defence, and while I went to Kathy Conway, and told her I wanted to give Kate a rematch - due to the dubious ending to our match, it was postponed…
Because I’d mate it to the semi-finals of the Heiress to the Throne.
I’m not going to lie, I was pretty surprised. I never went out there looking for points, I never intended to fight my way into contention, much like when I came back and ended up earning a Shield Maiden title shot…
It just happened.
Things keep falling into place.
I’m not simple minded enough to call it fate, or hell, even destiny….but the moment that Rowan became the Diamonds Champion? I knew we’d have to meet again. As the woman who gave her that first legitimate loss….it’s almost like it’s on my shoulders, y’know? That’s how I feel anyway, I feel like Rowan failed to beat me, failed to take this Shield Maiden yet somehow, some way, found herself a path to the Diamonds Championship….
Something I’ve never been able to do.
Yet here I stand now, with a path clearly laid out in front of me, the only problem? There’s at least two women standing in my way. Due to the nature of the Heiress to the Throne, that could be anyone out of five Diamonds, but one is a definite, one is a certain and her name?
Is Helena Sawyer.
A lot of people look at Helena as a watered down Eternity, a lot of people see everything she does, and believe it to be pandering to the things Eternity herself has done. The thing is, I’m not like those people, I see the woman behind the theatrics, I see the thirst, and the hunger….the desire to succeed. Do Eternity and Helena have some similarities? Of course…
People say the same thing about Fiona and I.
Just like us two fiery Irishwomen though, there are very drastic differences. Weirdly enough, one half seems to be more successful than the other, I don’t usually like to toot my own horn, but I keep being told by those around me that I deserve to.
I beat Eternity.
I became the first ever two time Shield Maiden.
I was the first to pin Rowan MacDonnough
There’s only three women who have held this championship longer than I have, and two of those reigns were ended by me. The woman people once knew as Shea O’Hara - the fluke who won the Shield Maiden and lost her first defence - she no longer exists. What you see before you is a stronger, more determined, more skillful, more defiant woman who knows what she is worth. I didn’t set out to become Heiress to the Throne, but here we are, and here’s my chance. To truly step up my game, step up my competition, and show the world that I’m not just a one trick pony.
It’s my path to the Diamonds Championship.
I’ve never been involved in an Heiress to the Throne tournament before, but you can bet your ass, when I set my mind to something? I usually pull through at the end. When I came up from developmental, I wanted to win the Shield Maiden, and I did. When I came back from my injury, I wanted revenge on Eternity, and I did. When Rowan attacked me? I wanted to put her down…..and I did.
I am a woman of conviction.
I follow through.
Can the same be said about you Helena?
I’m not doubting your skills, or even your ability. Lord knows you’re a formidable opponent, you have a history of getting into your opponent's mind, and making them expose their own weaknesses….the thing is, I’ve gone up against some very similar competition, in the likes of Rowan and Eternity….so I’m more than prepared. I’d go as far as to say nothing can surprise me….but I’m sure you’ll try and find a way. Still, two talents such as us? Yet not a single Diamonds Championship shot between us, that in itself is some bizarre kind of achievement. Yet it does seem to shine a light on something Helena….you never seem to reach your full potential.
You’ve never been a champion.
So the question becomes, how badly do you want this Helena? How badly do you want to buck the trend? Break through that glass ceiling? ….then of course comes the follow up question. Do you actually think you can beat me? Do you think you, in your current form, with your current trend, has what it takes to beat someone on such a long undefeated streak? Someone who has had a renaissance of their career?
Someone who wants it that much more.
This girl is on fire Helena, for sure. I’m burning up the competition, and I’m doing everything I can to go out there every time I’m booked to put on a great show. To show the millions of girls watching worldwide, that they don’t have to tread down that dark path to be successful, that they don’t have to lose themselves to the darkness, that they have what it takes to be special. I know at least a small part of you has to hear that, has to want to hear that…..and maybe, just maybe...it could save you.
A wave of darkness covers the Diamonds division.
Whether it’s you, Eternity, or Rowan….
I’m the dragon slayer.
The demon slayer.
My point being, I’m the brightness in the dark, and I’ve put two agents of darkness down. Now, perhaps? It’s your turn.
Then Shea O’Hara gets through to the finals of the Heir to the Throne, and is just one match away from Rowan MacDonough and the Diamonds Championship.
…..in more ways than one.
We open up on the sites of Tokyo Bay in Yokohama, where Shea O’Hara is seen leaning on a railing looking out at the water. The sun shines down as Will Fenell walks into the frame with two drinks in his hand.
Will: Hey girl, watchu lookin’ at?
Shea smiles at him, as he hands her a drink. She sighs a little as she looks out over the picturesque scene.
Shea: It’s weird, right? But the serene nature just reminds me of home.
Will chuckles to himself.
Will: Don’t think you lot had samurais and shit though.
Shea: Hey, don’t you be dissin’ my heritage! Celtic warriors are some of the fiercest out there!
Will: Hey, it’s ok. I’m not Astrid or something, you ain’t gotta defend yourself here. It’s just me babe….just taggin’ along while you kick ass through the Heiress to Throne!
His words of encouragement bring a smile to her face while she leans over the railing. She turns to him, and gives him a sort of “puppy dog” look.
Will: Wut? ….I know that look girl, whatchu done?
Shea: I erm….I want to go to the Doll Museum.
She smiles brightlty at him, before turning it to a cheeky, almost “please” like grin.
Will: Damn girl. We come to Japan and you wanna look at dolls!? We could do anythin’ else, anythin! Hell, I’d even go back to Tokyo with Pandora than walk around lookin’ at dolls….
Shea: I kinda figured...soooooooo I got you these…
She pulls out two tickets to the Japanese baseball league, to see they Baystars against Hiroshima. Will smirks.
Will: Can’t be as good as back home, but hey….that’s pretty dope babe.
She leans in and he pulls her close for a kiss.
Shea: I’m pretty sure I can con Pandora into coming with me….you just, go enjoy yourself, OK?
Will: Two tickets? Who am I bringin’?
Shea: More than half the roster is here, I’m sure someone will go….
He hugs her again, before he departs, pulling his phone out of his pocket and calling someone we don’t know to tell him about the tickets. Shea smiles once more, before looking back to the bay itself and pulls her own phone out of her pocket and types a message.
The scene fades on the text message being sent.

Light in the dark - 27th August, 2017.
One of the five of you will make it through to the next round. Be it Keira, Kathy, Sara, Brooklyn, or Astrid Hall herself….I’m banking on being the name opposite you. My test is to get past Helena Sawyer, and I’ll be going in with everything I have, laying it all out there in the ring…..but if anyone says they don’t have an eye on the finals they’re straight up lying.
It’s the mother flippin’ Heiress to the Throne!
This is our chance, our chance to prove ourselves. To really go out there and show the entire world what we’re capable of. To show the men how we do things in the Diamonds division, and most of all?
To steal the show.
Each one of you would be a formidable enough opponent given the time to prepare for the match like we normally do, but this? Not knowing who it’ll be til moments before? That is the true test of character. It’ll show who really can adapt, and evolve….it’ll show who is really for the test of a Diamonds Championship shot. I know in my heart I’m ready, I know deep down that I’m ready…..it’s been building for so long, and I have nothing but momentum behind me.
I going for gold.
I never try to claim I’m something that I’m not. I never claim to be the best, never claim to be a God, or a Demon, or anything of the sort. I’m Shea O’Hara, a punk rock kid from Ireland who bucked the trend and made it overseas. I came to a country where I knew nobody, just because IWF truly is the land of opportunity. I’ve seen it first hand, I’ve watched women flourish and become superstars….and I’ve seen the other side too.
I almost fell on that side myself.
Yet here I am, and here I remain. A beacon of hope, a light in the darkness, a force of good. People believe in me, and in return I give them something to believe in. I’m not a super hero, I’m not someone with mystical powers. I’m a warrior, a fighter, a lioness! I fight with the determination, passion, and skill of a worthy foe for any of you, and that is exactly what I’m going to do at Lineage. I’m going to go out there, prepared to fight for everything. Prepared to give it everything I have, and to lay it all on the line.
Win or lose, I’ll know I gave it my best.
That’s all the fans ask of us.
I never want to leave them disappointed.
I’ll see you at Lineage girls, whoever makes it through, but trust me when I say this….it isn’t going to be a cakewalk, it’s going to be the toughest match of your life….because I genuinely believe I’m the hungriest Diamond on this roster, and it’s going to take more than the full fury of hell to put me down.
This is my chance.
I’m going to take it.
