I could list a bunch of excuses, right here, right now. About how Helena attacked me before the match, about how the referee didn’t even try to separate us before ringing the bell, about how it felt like a fixed result…..but for each one there’s another answer or question. Why did I not let the referee call the match off? Why did I take that risk.
Why did I continue with an injured knee?
Why did I risk my entire career for one match?
The answer is simply the draw of being Heiress to the Throne. It’s the reason Helena had so much fire, it’s the reason I took those risks, it’s the reason I wouldn’t let the referee end the match….and it’s the reason I’m currently in a Local Medical Center©
I can blame Helena.
Like I blamed Eternity.
But I can’t, because deep down, I know what they knew, and what you all probably know…..this? This whole thing? Everything that led to it, and everything that will follow?
Is all my fault.
We open up on the trainers room while the Legacy PPV event is still ongoing. Shea O’Hara is on the table with sweat pouring from her face, her hair a tangled mess. Her fists are clenched and she’s groaning in pain.
Shea: Gawd, it fuckin’ hurts!
Shea’s accent seems even thicker as she writhes in agony. The door opens up and Will Fenell walks into the room. She makes eye contact with him, and almost begs for him, reaching out. He takes her hand and sits down next to her.
Will: I’m here girl…..I’m here!
Shea: That bitch of a whore, she knew….she knew...and she still, awww fuck!
The trainer is busy examining Shea, trying to move her leg and looks pretty concerned. He makes eye contact with Will and grimaces at little as he extends Shea’s leg, forcing her to cry out and grab Wills hand even tighter.
Will: Dat’s tha game baby….she saw a weakness, and she exploited it.
Shea rolls to look Will dead in his eyes.
Shea: Don’t you dare fucking defend her!
Will holds his free hand up, a silent apology between the two of them. The trainer moves around to face her.
Trainer: Miss O’Hara, I’m very sorry but you seem to have done some pretty extensive damage to your knee. I’m not going to be able to let you leave, you need to go to the hospital to have some scans done, and have someone look over you more extensively than I can do here.
In the background Helena Sawyers music plays once more, as Legacy rolls on, everyone unaware of what poor Shea is going through. The music causes Shea to scowl, and almost growl in the process.
Trainer: I’ve given you something to help with the pain, but you’ll need to taken to the hospital in the ambulance we have in the parking lot.
Shea: Whatever you gotta do doc…
Will: Is she going to be out for a while, or is this like a small time recovery thing?
The notion of injuries stings a little for Will as he eyes the doc, suddenly Shea grabs his arm.
Shea: I…...I wanna swing….
Will: What is it babe?
Trainer: It’s probably the pain killers kicking in.
Shea: I WANNA SWING FROM THE FUCKING CHANDELIER!
Shea grins, and giggles as she finishes, before her eyes roll a little, and her head thumps back onto the table, before she passes out. Will, amazed at what he just saw, turns to the trainer.
Will: Just tell me she’s going to be okay.
Trainer: I don’t know son…..I honestly don’t know…
Will turns back to Shea, and grabs her hand tight, holding it as he looks down at her, his face covered in a harsh wave of sadness, as we fade.

So….good knews! My knee is fine.
Well not fine, but as close as I can be. I’m just so amazingly happy that I’m not sidelined again. I wasn’t looking forward to having to give up my Shield Maiden championship without actually losing it. No, I’m a fighter, I’m a warrior, and if slash when I lose it? It’ll be in battle. Battle, that’s funny, because even though I’m not 100% and the IWF brass KNOW that, they throw me right back into the fire….
Against Keira Hunter.
The runner up to the Heiress to the Throne.
That in, and of itself, should tell you how big a deal this match is, or at least that it is to me. Keira made it to the final, and that shows the entire world what she’s capable of. She headline Legacy last week and unfortunately, just like me, she came up short against Helena Sawyer. The thing is though? She lasted a hell of a lot longer than I did, came a hell of a lot closer to winning than I did. I’m not underestimating you in any way, shape, or form Keira…..and even with my knee not being 100% I’m still going to go out there, I’m still going to give it my all, and I’m still going to fight like everything was on the line.
Inside me beats the heart of a champion.
I bundled my way into the Heiress to the Throne, it was my intention to butt in, but I did, and I gave it my all….I’m not ashamed by that. Do I wish it could have gone another way? Sure….that’s probably something we have in common. The other, is that we don’t back down, we go out to that ring and give it everything we have. I’ve been doing that ever since I returned, going up against the biggest, and scariest Diamonds that IWF has to offer, and now I find myself here….being booked more and more, it’s something that drives a woman….the desire to be the best, the desire to better yourself and reach upwards.
I may be the Shield Maiden, but it isn’t the end of my song.
I’ve took on everyone who came my way, because once you win this thing? Every match is a title match….but not this week, yet, I’m still going to treat it as such. Whether you want the Shield Maiden or not Keira, I’m treating you as if you were here to take it from me….and I’m prepared to go to extreme lengths to defend this, and myself. Mrs Conway might be on commentary, but don’t think for once second I’m naive enough to think she isn’t there for a reason. She’s either evaluating us, or scouting us.
Either is fine by me.
Astrid Hall calls me her Shield Sister, and I take that name seriously, I think of myself as a warrior, and I’m going out to battle come Sacrifice Keira, battle with you. Only one of us can walk away victorious, and I’m prepared to go to the limit to have my hand raised at the end. Show the world that Shea O’Hara is more than just the Shield Maiden, show the world that Heiress to the Throne was a one off, that I’m not a one and done, like I was before….show everyone, that I mean business this time around.
I hope you bring the fire.
I hope you’re ready for a battle.
Because I’m going to leave it all in the ring, Every. Last. Drop. Because this business runs through my veins, it is my life….and I love it so much. I’m living my dream…
And it’s far from over.
