We open on footage from Helena's handheld camera. This time, we can't see any distinguishing characteristics behind her. Only trees. Trees and darkness. Helena's face is illuminated by the light from her camera, and she grins ear-to-ear as part of her face lights up with the telltale red light of the recording light. She waves cheerily into the camera, giggling.
"Hey there, IWF. I just got off a...well, a something to get to New York. Was it a plane? Was it a train? Was it an automobile? Was it a horse wagon that I hijacked somewhere in rural Pennsylvania? Only I know. And maybe only I care. But the facts are...I'm here. In New York. So close to where it all began, where I come from. It's like I'm in my backyard. All the fun of playing with the toys I never had, with the friends I never had...but I get a playmate this week! And he's got a throne of his very own!"
She grins, leaning up against a tree with a sigh.
"Oh, Ryan. We're going to do so many fun things together. We can break Todd Williams into a million little pieces. We can shut Kate Steele's trap forever. All it takes is a little bit of faith, and a willingness to try new things. Experiment! Come on, you've got to have a bit more room in your shriveled little heart. Enough for little old me? Just for one night. Then I'll be out of your hair for good, and you can go back to hoping you can fill the Cable Arcane-shaped hole in Laura Howlett's heart."
Helena walks through the woods again, looking around with a quizzical expression on her face.
"I wonder who's going to follow me out here this time? It feels like any time I try to go out and get a little...quality time with my camera here, someone or something follows behind me. Is it the would-be rescuer, the detective always two steps too slow? Is that a wolf knocking at my door, hoping to devour me with the rest of her pack before I can seize her crown? Maybe it's the old dragon herself, roused from her slumber by the thought of another challenger to her story? There's just so much that can go wrong...so many things to go bump in the night."
As if to prove her point, a loud thumping noise comes from out of shot. Helena jumps, pulling an expression of surprise and shock, and then breaks into laughter, panning down to show a small log kicked over next to her path. Helena swings the camera back up again, smiling down into it.
"Looks like one of them is me! Who knew? Katie, Toddykins...don't you worry your little heads. I won't do anything horrible to you. I won't kidnap you, torture you, make you question your very grip on sanity and the nature of reality itself...that's what happens to the special boys and girls. Besides, someone already took all the best kidnapping places. I bet it was that Rowan. What an asshole. Always ruining my fun. Well, in a few weeks I get to ruin hers! Isn't life just grand?"
She giggles again, turning towards a tree and sprinting at it. The camera blacks out for a few seconds, and when it comes back in, Helena is holding it in front of her with both hands, her hair hanging down in such a way that it leaves no doubt that she's hanging upside-down from a branch as she films.
"Well, this upside-down world of ours has a lot of tricks and treats in store for us. For example, I just noticed that my camera's almost dead. A pity. I had so much more I could have said! So many more ominous prophecies to hint at and never follow up on, so many more questions to leave the followers on the Internet, trying to track me down. Oh yes, I know you're out there. I've seen the websites. Very impressive detail some of you have. I wonder what would happen if I put that kind of attention into finding out who and where you all were...Dylan?"
Helena tilts her head to the side, flashing a grin for a moment before erupting into a peal of laughter. The world suddenly flips and tumbles, and Helena falls to the ground, landing in a kneeling crouch with the camera aimed straight at her face again.
"Okay, I don't know if there's actually a Dylan out there trying to track me down, but if there is, I hope you have a picture of the look on your face there. Send it to me! I need something to cheer me up when I'm feeling low. As for right now...well, Mr. Right Now and I are going to go out there and do what we do best: crush dreams. Knee people in the face. Make them cry. And win. Looking forward to working with you, Ryan! And Toddy? Katiekins? I haven't forgotten about you. I'm just as excited to see you. In fact? I...can't...wait. Bye-byeeee!"
Helena waves into the camera, giggling with a smile on her face as the battery runs out and we abruptly cut to black.
