Camera comes up on Terri sitting in a chair across from another in a backstage interview area, grinning as she quickly reviews some notes. It's quickly apparent that she wasn't prepared for this, and is only just now learning what she's supposed to be doing here.
"Hello everyone and welcome to a very special interview, where we're going to be sitting down and talking to... wait, what? Oh no. No no no, I did not sign up for this. Give this interview to Vasco, I'm not going to..."
"I'm not going to hurt you, Terri Morasco."
Rowan steps into view of the camera, the Diamonds Championship Belt over her shoulder. Terri blinks several times, glancing around to see that there are a few security personnel around her before giving a shallow nod, gesturing to the seat next to her where Rowan sits down,. "Uh... meeting with the IWF Diamonds Champion, Rowan MacDonnough, to discuss her betrayal of The Council last week on Legacy. Rowan, um... hi."
Rowan nods, but remains silent. Terri glances at the camera briefly before continuing on with the interview. "So... Miss MacDonnough. People have been wondering all this last week about the events that led to you betraying the Council last week at Legacy with the help of former IWF Cameraman Dean Harper. You've been silent on this point all week, and the IWF fans are hoping for an explanation. Would you care to share some words on the matter?"
“Of course. Some weeks ago, I was made an offer – and with that offer, a promise. Xavier Cross came to my home and told me that he wanted to give me a place in the most dominant faction that the IWF had ever known. I eventually accepted his offer, warning him from the very beginning that I would turn on them should convenience or whim strike me. Make no mistake that I held my end of the bargain to the letter. I stood with them. Fought with them. Used their momentum to become Champion of this division of Diamonds. I gave them everything I promised… even what you refer to as betrayal.”
Terri blinks, seeming surprised. "So... so your turning on them was less of a betrayal and instead just a... what, fulfillment of contract? Xavier Cross was expecting you to do what you did? "
Rowan's eyes take on the unmistakable look of someone who is giving a satisfied smile under her mask. "I never made any effort to hide it. In fact, I brought it up with all of them several times. Whatever other sins I may be guilty of, Terri Morasco... I have never lied, nor have I ever broken my word. I have never needed to."
Terri shifts in her seat. "So... what made you keep that end of your bargain when you did, leaving the Council to form The Pack?"
Rowan's eyes flash as she looks hard into the camera. “As I said, I made a point to keep my end of the bargain. Xavier Cross, on the other hand? Xavier Cross made a… proverbial… deal with the Devil… and then reneged on his end of the deal.”
"How so?"
Rowan snorts. “Take a hard look at The Council. Handed defeat after defeat after defeat. They slip in and snatch a few wins to earn their way into Heir to the Throne, yet not one of them defeats a single opponent once they get there. Cross earns a chance to fight Steve Awesome, but instead runs and hides like the coward he is, kidnapping his opponents wife instead of even trying to earn the Council what might have been their only victory at Legacy. And it isn't simply restricted to that show. Kole Kaos, the man who flavors himself a God, cannot even shed the blood of a man who is as far from bloodthirsty as it gets. Ulf Hednir struggles endlessly to earn the Invictus title, but is time and again bested by a man half his size – even when Ulf has every advantage. When they fight as a whole group, they cannot overcome their enemies on their own - either they are handed a victory by Roberto Verona, or they are overpowered by those who have temporarily united against them as we saw this weekend. Cross promised me a part of the most dominant team in IWF's history... and yet what we see is a group of men who can't get the job done when it matters."
Terri seems about to ask another question, but Rowan cuts her off and continues speaking.
"All the while they preen themselves like peacocks at mating season, caring more about their merchandise sales than keeping their promises of Domination… and scheme against one another when the cameras are off. Cross pushes them all in a vision they do not wish to embrace. Kaos plots his own plans of Domination, and I'm honestly surprised that my betrayal came before his. There is no unity of purpose, and no unity of motivation… and it became quickly clear that the Council was doomed to languish, or devour itself. And so, when the time was right… I kept my final promise to Xavier Cross and directed my Pack to feast upon the suffocating husk of his dying dream.”
Terri nods. "And you think that your Pack will be more successful than The Council?"
Rowan glances to her title. "I think this along with Dean Harper's successes against them during Heir to the Throne tells a better tale than words could, and that's without mentioning my other two champions."
"I think I understand. Well, now that we've gotten that out of the way, I wonder if you could answer some questions on your time before the IWF, back when you still lived in-"
She shakes her head dismissively, cutting Terri off. “You wanted my words on The Council. You have them. Remember them well, for this is the last I shall speak of such disappointment. For while the past is a mire of broken promises… the future offers fire, blood and pain the likes of which the IWF has never seen before. For now, however, there is nothing left to say."
Rowan abruptly stands and walks out of frame, leaving Terri looking slightly bewildered. "Thank... you for your time...? Christ, she's rude, isn't she. Anyway, that was Rowan MacDonnough, opening up about the Council. Thank you for joining us!"
