Just moments ago Rob Diamond, who had not been seen on IWF television since Night of the Immortals until this past weeks Sacrifice announced via Facebook that he is officially retiring from professional wrestling.
We have the full post here.
"I honestly don't know how to begin this... I guess by saying I'm sorry I didn't announce this in front of a live audience but honestly, I didn't wanna take away drone guys I shared the ring with this week and the awesome match they put on.
I've been wrestling since I was about 17, my buddy Kyle Braddock aka Falcon trained me then later my best friend and brother, Spike Kane. I've had a pretty good career, won a bunch of belts, had some truly amazing matches with more people than I can name right now but...
After Night of the Immortals I had this weird feeling wash over me.
What else is there to do?
I felt truly fulfilled for the first time. Sure I could chase the Imperial title but I don't feel like I need that to complete my career. My career feels complete. My daughter got to see me be me inside that ring and show her there is nothing you can't accomplish if you set your mind to it.
I lived my dream. I became one of the biggest names in the business. I did things I never even dared dream about the first time I stepped into a ring.
And now I'm ready to take move into the next chapter of my life. My daughter is getting older and she deserves to have her father he a bigger part of her life and while I will miss the cheers and the boos... I've got to do right by here.
I'm not going to be one of those guys who says I'm done and I'm never coming back. Never say never.
But for now, I'm done. It's been a hell of a ride and I love all of you.
Spike and Kyle, the two best friends and brothers a person could ask for, I owe you everything.
Steve, you always pushed me to be better.
Andrew, we never really liked each other but I'm so happy to have been a small part of your rise to the top.
This is getting sappy.
I love you guys.
Now I'm gonna log off and make some Mac and cheese for the kid.
And if you're not down with that I've got two words for ya.
Good bye."
This is huge news. Rob Diamond has been a staple of IWF since it's inception. We truly have entered a new era of Imperial Wrestling.
