CHAPTER 4
"In Which Fiona Shares Her Thoughts In A Time Of Great Need"
4 October 2017 + 1215 GMT
We find Fiona McFly sitting at her desk, wide awake yet looking extremely haggard, as she reads from a page in her red-coloured notebook. The last few days have been a roller-coaster ride for her, but it was times like this which compelled her to write in her personal diary twice daily, before and after every workout.
Except one thing: she had forgotten to do so when she first woke up and went on her morning jog.
As Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' "Won't Back Down" played from her iPhone's iHeartRadio app, she used her meditation period to focus on the words she had written, putting the tip of her modern-style quill pen to the paper to make sure that everything was on the up and up. She nodded warmly before scanning the content she had written onto her computer before posting it to her Facebook page.
Fiona took a deep breath, then pulled out her Bible to begin her daily reading, but not before placing a bookmark onto her newest personal diary entry and closing it, gently setting it back on the bookshelf.

FIONA'S PERSONAL DIARY
"My Thoughts In This Time of Crisis"

I was going to have an entire personal entry in the working stages this past Monday morning, mainly in order to clear the air with several colleagues in my line of work that have become confused in regards to what I've been doing the last several months. I had it all planned out and outlined, ready to be put onto these pages like painting on a canvas.
Then...I woke up that morning to news that I pray I would never, ever see happen yet it did.
And it puts everything I've done in my wrestling career into perspective, reminding me of what is going on in the world outside of an arena.
I was extremely saddened and heartbroken to watch the news of the Las Vegas massacre on the television, and I will preface this by expressing my deepest condolences and prayers to the victims of this senseless tragedy as well as their families and friends who have also been greatly affected. The very notion that one man can commit so much evil in such a period of time, from a hotel room window, goes well beyond my own level of comprehension, and I simply cannot imagine the scope of pain that everyone who was affected by these events are currently going through. Time and time again, I've repeatedly had to ask myself things like why did something like it happen or why do these incidents happen to begin with, only for me to not be able to find the answers I seek.
And honestly, I don't know if I'll have any answers to give, at least not at the moment.
Whilst I do not consider myself an overtly political person--I am, for the record, a centre-leaning conservative that wants BOTH sides to agree on things that are best for the people they represent instead of catering to their own pocketbooks--it makes my blood boil to see that certain people, on one side or the other, are politicising the incident in the name of their own agenda, namely the concept of "gun control," jumping to conclusions without getting all the factual details.
I find that to be despicable on so many fronts.
First off, I understand the Second Amendment and what it means--my husband and I have guns in our house for supplemental protection against those who want to do us, or our neighbours, harm--such an amendment has to be kept in check. But the second thing here might be simple yet it's really quite complicated when you dig deeper into the matter...HOW are we, as American citizens and human beings, are going to solve the problems that we're having now?
We can't just ban certain types of guns and think that will fix everything. That will only make the bad guys more motivated to procure them and cause more chaos. In that case, what CAN we do to help prevent something like the Las Vegas tragedy--or any other incident--from ever happening again? I just do not know...and personally, my heart just breaks every time I turn my television after waking up every morning, only to watch as more acts of reprehensible and unconscionable violence take place around the world.
It's sad for me, as a person, to see how perilous and chaotic this world has become. It's very, very sad.
It's times like these that compel and motivate me to write into this diary twice a day--once in the morning, once at nighttime--because right now my anger is about to boil over yet I REALLY want to keep it in check.
No matter where they occur, these types of tragedies should NOT, nor should they EVER be, the "new normal" in our daily lives. We should be able to go out into the world, make money or learn something whilst talking about who wins or loses on the gridiron or the newest films to debut at the cinema, and at the end of the day...return home, hug your loved ones, and take them out to a concert or sporting event without fear that someone will commit an ungodly act of evil. In times like this, we need joy, we need happiness and prosperity throughout the world.
We need to share the message of hope and love with EVERYBODY more than ever, which is why this last show was special to me, my colleagues, and most importantly...the fans.
For three hours this past Monday night--three singular hours--the Imperial Wrestling Federation's Sacrifice programme gave us performers, and our fans, the opportunity to escape from the chaos and strife that constantly engulfs our world. It was a therapeutic blessing to be out there in that wrestling ring, doing what I truly love to do without having to worry about the goings-on on the outside, without giving into fear and anxiety that something terrible might happen. It was such a God-given blessing to be able to come out to that ring, hug every single person I can find within the limited time I had, and tell them just how much I love them, care for them, and want them to go out into their daily routines and ENJOY LIFE--to enjoy the things that the Heavenly Father provides for us.
For at the end of the day, it's our job to perform in front of the people that see us weekly. It's our duty to entertain them by putting our own bodies on the line in that ring because that's what we, as wrestlers, LOVE doing. Whilst we do things in a ring that could potentially send us to hospital or end our careers, we cannot allow ourselves, fans and performers alike, to let fear and hatred consume us and wipe us out of existence. Attending an IWF event should be about having a good time over some pop and popcorn or pizza, and we as entertainers should always strive to get the public what they want. After all...if the people are having fun, WE are having fun as well.
My point is this...wrestling is a critical part of my life as well as others. We need to show the world that sports and entertainmen can TRULY bring people closer together--not just as Republicans or Democrats, whites or blacks, but as Americans and as human beings.
I say this to you all in closing, from the bottom of heart. When you go out into the world to ply your craft or to get an education, tell the people around you that you care for them deeply, that you want them to succeed, and give them a friendly hug. When you return home after the day is through, when you put a nice, hot meal on the table every evening...do the same thing. Hug your loved ones--your sons, daughters, grandchildren, spouses, etc.--and tell them how much you love them. Guide them so that, one day, future generations can strive for anything they put their hearts and minds to. In the Holy Scriptures, 1st John 4:7--one of my mentor Regina Kimble's favourite passages--reminds us of one very simple, yet direct message:
"Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God."
After all, those three words--"I love you"--can go a long, long way to making America, and the world, great again.
And I love you all in bunches. Very, very much.
May God shine His Holy Light upon you, so that you can make the day bright for yourself, your friends, and your loved ones.
