She could hear the brawl outside the doors, the crowd baying as the Thralls fought to entertain, fought for practise fought for fun, fought because they’d get her notice, try to gain her favour a word a touch a glance.
Anything, the Centralia air had stopped burning her lungs, new found strength seeming to flow through her body even as she felt each night passing to day.
She looked at a small orange bottle and the label on it, a smirk creeping on her face as she read the label.
CITALOPRAM 30 mg, HALL, A.
She sighed just a bit even as she looked at the bottle, she remembered the drug, she’d seen it pass through the hands of many thralls how it actually helped, for a while made things normal, bearable, until they stopped taking it then it all started again and a lot harder.
She sighed a little more and there was a thump on the door ahead of her, even as the plastic was crashed into her hand and she looked at the remnants of Astrid’s Prison.
“I will make you stronger, Valkyrie… No more shackles…I will set you free...”
The doors ahead of her started to open as she walked out and the fighters stopped, a silence coming over the Thralls as Max wiped her hands and looked left and right, her gaze paused as one of the fights seemed to get the idea and moved her direction.
It took about a half hour to really work the aggression out, get a good workout in.
You only truly knew somebody once you fought them and as she touched up a cut titling her head as he watched it fade, disappear a smirk growing as she moved out of the little wash room.
Right into Dean Harper who was looking at her and said gently.
“You looked like you were having fun these last few days; I’ve never seen you smile more.”
Max chuckles a bit even as Dean finished off the sentence.
“I like it.”
Max paused in her walk and looked at Dean with a raised brow.
“You Like it? What Else do you like?”
Dean seems amused by that line even as he’s sure she knows the answer to that question, given her tone as Max chuckles and playfully nudges him with a shoulder.
“You are a tease Dean Harper. I’m not sure I can be much more patient.”
Dean chuckles and starts to slowly pull the door closed with a nod.
“Then don’t be.”
Max looked at that closed door like it was a metaphor, a challenge she felt herself grin as she moved and sat staring juts a moment as her hands wrung and she swore she could see him doing the same, waiting for that door to open, so she spoke.
“I’m still here.”
Dean chuckles his voice echoed and yes it was much like he was just looking at the door.
“Just when I thought I’d scared you away.”
Max laughs a bit and smirked standing up.
“I’m not scared of you Dean Harper; you are Pack ….I like You Dean Harper…”
Max walked away having said what she wanted to, on her terms and the silence form the other side of the door meant Dean had gotten the message, maybe he always had, but she left it up to him with what to do with it.
Risky? Yes Scary? A little. Worth it?
She would see.
We fade in to a river, the running stream the camera pans upwards slowly and surely to find Max sat by the water, currently washing a grey piece of cloth even as Max stayed quiet for a time and speaking more to herself than the camera.
“Shae O’Hara, how I’ve waited for this…The Sheildmaiden and so far the brightest light that burns fiercer than ever even as the rest of her trio falls, have you spoken to Astrid Recently Shae? Or has your commitment been to work?"
She tuts a bit.
“How easily friends become mist when something different called them away. Yet there you were just as it was getting good between Astrid and I."
Max grins a bit nodding.
“Good, she gets to watch this, helpless, defenceless she gets to watch me work…on you”
Max’s eyes close and she releases the shroud and smirks speaking softly.
“They Say the shieldmaiden is a prize of significance, it bears the name of my largest foe, the one with which I stand toe to toe with, and do you know what Shae? Astrid would like nothing more than to be where I am right now, facing you for your belt ,for her Namesake or one of them”

She leans back and examines her cloth just a bit.
“No Shae you are strong, but I am stronger, I know you O’Hara."
She grins, just a little
"You will bite and you will fight but you will not…cannot break me I wasn’t sent on this path to hunt you have just found yourself in my way, you have found yourself In the unique position to be the perfect hunt.”
The footage seems to rewind in fast motion like another force form behind is dragging the camera away floating it like it waste point of view casting it’s gaze down into the shots of Shae beating Eternity, Connecting with the Sweet little Machine again and again on foes the Shield Maiden belt getting lifted time after time, and another set of footage, Astrid being beaten Max and Astrid Fighting, Astrid’s Face as seeing the ‘new’ Maxine.

Every time the belt gets lifted higher Astrid seems to fade a little more until we see the footage of last week.
Shae stood opposite Max, Max pointing to October Revolution. Astrid Hall left nowhere to be seen; all expect a ghostly image a flicker of blood on the camera.
“All Astrid wants is what you have. Shae O’Hara glory, fame he chance to be called the best, celebrated in song.”
A smirk and Max’s eyes looking directly into the camera.
“All her faith placed in a piece of leather and tin”
Max rolls her head and closes her eyes nodding.
“Yes I fight for a cause Shae, I’m fighting to rescue your friend form a hole you haven’t even cared enough to see, I fight to see her free by hurting her the most because it is only through suffering that we improve…"

A head tiles eyes fixed on the camera.
"...Just Ask Spike Kane, Pandora, Astrid, The Garcia’s, Rayne and Yourself. ”
A long, slow smirk.
“I wonder about you Shae. You’ve been close to a man who claimed to be a god, who shocked the world with a lie that wasn’t a lie but then lied about that because it was easier for the world to hate him than it was for them to feel sorry."
A long, slow smirk.

A snort of derision
"You have faced monsters and creatures that seem as if a dream and now you face me, you couldn’t help your best friend…and now you knew best friend gets to be the reason you will suffer so.”
Max shakes her head again.
“Warren Kane will haunt you until your dying days because part of you will think will always think you could have done more. Instead you were at home moping about an arm in a sling, you don’t know real pain Shae you don’t know true agonizing paralysing pain that bores through you and then goes cold, but you will. You are not HALF the person I am and I don’t mean that in height or weight I mean that in spirit, but I am so much fuller than you.”
Another little chuckle
“Does your arm ache when it gets cold Shae? Do you find yourself flexing it now and again, reminding yourself its better? I bet you do, in your private moments where nobody can see you look in the mirror and you see a woman waiting to fail, riding the rapids of victory after victory and hoping nobody calls your bluff. ”
The camera slowly zooms back as Max leans forwards and knocks on the grass as if it were a poker table.
“I call.”
Max chuckles.
“Bring me the one who beat Eternity, bring me the one who has stood tall day after day, I beg you bring your best, bring everything you have and I Promise you that I will show you a woman that is greater than anything you have face before, I will show you everything I have my own disposal and I will not break before you.”
Max shook her head.
“I will make them watch as I beat you, Again and again I will not rest until you lay defeated in the middle of that ring and When all is Said and Done I will hold that Belt in my hands gaze upon its glory….”
A sick smirk,
“...Then throw it to the sky like so much trash, This I promise you Shae, I promise that when I beat you when I lay you down I will make Astrid Hall watch as I wound her….Without ever laying a hand on her. That is true victory Shae…To know you opponent so well you are beating them without laying a hand on them...”
A small laugh and a grin.
“Now I have given you something to fight for O Hara, you are always so much stronger when you fight for others, so much Better when you have something bigger than yourself, I want that Shae I want to taste her blood on my lips and feel the fury in her strikes, I want to feel her strength ebb away moment after moment as I drive her into the mat again and again and again, until one of us cannot answer the count of three..”
Max closes her eyes as if imagining it the background behind her seeming to com e to a standstill as she lifts the Grey cloth from the river, which is a well bleached and worn Shae O Hara t-shirt, which Max looks at for a long moment and screws up in her hands.
“Come the October Revolution you will not enter a riot but a war. You will not face a dragon, and this is not a fairy tale, you are not a princess or a knight in armour you are a scared, lonely and lost little girl fighting to survive, I’ll see you there Shea.”
Max throws the shirt at the camera and when the scenery is revealed there is nothing there.
Max shakes her head again.
