“I fell in love with her too”
The words echoed in Spike’s mind. He’d been stunned by Astrids words, not even romotely expecting them. He knew that Astrid and Pandora were close, but never even suspected something like this. Perhaps his mind wasn’t as open as he thought? Perhaps he was more naive than those he taught. She’d told him how she felt, and how Pandora -might- feel, and Spike had left her, not in a rush, not in a bad mood, but more to digest what was happening.
‘Pan has to know, that’s why this…..is a “thing” …’
He thought to himself as he walked down the stairs to the training area of the school. He began to head towards the office, mulling over what happened, and how he should go about bringing it up to Pandora. The last thing he wanted was a fight….
That’s when he saw Xavier Cross in the ring, talking out loud…
I wonder if you’re upstairs sleeping soundly, or are you tossing, turning...visions haunting you…”
Spike felt now was the time to make his presence known.
“No, I’m right here…”
Cross turns around, to see Spike Kane standing in front of the ring watching him. The anger radiated off of Xavier, and Spike could completely understand it.
“It was smart for you to try to shake that ring rust off, but are you in any condition to fight?”
Maybe the God of Xtreme -was- looking for a fight after all?
“Why don’t you step between those ropes, and we can find out?”
Spike looks at him for a moment, before walking up the steel steps, and entering the ring. The two take a few steps before they are nose to nose. You could hear a pin drop, the two knew each other well enough, there wasn't a need to size each other up. Neither man shook, neither man broke away. Just two calm expressions, not even a tidal wave could make either man budge in this moment.
“This has been a long time coming….”
‘Push him’ Spike thought, he needed to know if Xavier could fight.
“No Council goons to save you.”
A sly “did you just!?” type smirk spreads across Xaviers face.
“And your Empire crumbled…”
Spike extends his arms, looking right into Cross’ eyes.
“Go ahead Cross, you know you want to…”
Xavier gets right back into Spike’s face, rage building, bubbling up.
“You don’t even know…..”
The two are nose to nose, ready to tear each other apart, but for some reason neither man throws the first punch. Spike looks determined, but Xavier looks like he’s about to explode.
“The things I’ve done? I’ve tried to make excuses….but what I did to you? There is no excuse!”
The words hit Xavier, and he almost looks like he’s about to blow his eyes out of his head.
“You’re damn fucking right there was no excuse!”
Without another word, Xavier sends a right hand right to the face of Spike Kane. It forces the God of Xtreme down to one knee, as he holds his jaw and looks up at Xavier, sorrow on his face.
“You deserve that, you need it…..I’m not gonna stop you.”
“OH YEAH!?”
Xavier sends another shot to Spike, this one sends him down to the mat, but Cross doesn’t stop, he climbs on top of Spike and continues to rain down punches. Spike, barely makes an effort to stop them.
“I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR SO LONG! YOU DESERVE EVERY SHITTY THING THAT’S EVER HAPPENED TO YOU! YOU’RE A FUCKING MONSTER! YOU’RE A PIECE OF SHIT! HOW! FUCKING! DARE! YOU!”
Xavier rains down a blow with each word, punctuating them. Blood trickles from Spike’s noses and mouth, one eye already swelling up.
“HOW DARE YOU BE THE ONE TO SAVE ME!”
Cross stops hitting Spike now…..as he runs his hands across his face, tears begining to form.
“You! You of all people! I hate you…..I fucking hate you so much…...how dare you deny me that!”
Cross rolls off of Spike and sits in the ring, his hands in his head, sobbing as the emotion inside of him just builds to too much. Spike lays on the blat, a bloody mess, but he reaches a hand out to Xavier, making “buh!” sounds, as he tries to speak through the blood in his mouth and swollen lips.
“.....I, I don’t know which way is up anymore”
Spike rolls to his side and places his hand on Cross’ leg, Spike looks at him, through his swollen and more than likely bruised eye.
“I…...I’m sorry”
And we fade on that image.
