On October 25, 2017, James Gilmore gave a routine podcast about his upcoming Invictus title opportunity at October Revolution. At first, everything seemed normal, and by all accounts Mr. Gilmore was psyched for his chance to shine in the IWF spotlight for the very first time in his career.
A day later, however, everything changed.
When a would-be assassin barged onto his private Corpus Christi, Texas beach and villa and attempted to murder the outspoken IWF star, a scuffle would soon ensue between the assailant and Gilmore's bodyguard, Mikhail Federov. Fearing for his life, James tried to intercede on Mikhail's behalf, but as he attempted to grab the .45-caliber handgun away from the intruder, he accidentally pulled the trigger and the weapon fired point blank, killing him instantly.
At that moment, James Gilmore's personal life--not to mention his IWF career--would be placed in great jeopardy.
In any other state, he would have most certainly faced a charge of involuntary manslaughter in the incident at his villa, but Gilmore's case fell under Texas' controversial "stand your ground" law, which allows those to use force without retreat to defend themselves or others against threats or those perceived as threats. As such, a Nueces County grand jury no-billed the Imperial superstar, freeing him of any possible charges on the incident in question.
But the haunting images of that day have sent James Gilmore into a self-imposed exile, his mind completely fractured by the events that took place in October.
Nobody has heard anything about his whereabouts since leaving a cryptic note in his villa on December 1st...until now.
This morning, IWF.com has learned that Mikhail Federov, Mr. Gilmore's bodyguard, will sit down with our own Terri Morasco and break his silence regarding the IWF star's exile plus give his side of the story in regards to the incident on October 26th on the New Years Day Open Fight Night, January 1, 2018. What will be revealed? You will have to tune in to find out.
