White light.
Pure, unadulterated white light.
Jack Gaither found himself walking around in the area, frantically searching for a way out yet to no avail. It was quiet and serene, devoid of any and all distractions that the physical realm might bring anyone, but Jack shook his head as he continued his search for a way back to the present day. Yet when he raised his hand to scratch his head, he felt something was a little off. He could run faster, jump higher...it was as if all of his strength had returned in an instant.
JACK GAITHER: I have a head full of hair! My brain and chest ain't killin' me no more! What's up with that?!
A sweet, loving voice startled him as Jack looked directly ahead and saw a pair of gates that had as much luster as gold and shined as bright as pearls. The scene unfolding in front of his eyes was one of joy and happiness, a pain-free utopia where souls from all over gathered to reminisce of days gone by. He saw the angelic white-robed figure standing in front of him, beaming from ear to ear with a smile as big as Texas.
It was at this moment in time when Jack, upon seeing the radiant visage of his mother, realized that he was no longer on the corporeal realm that was Earth. He was in the spiritual realm known simply as THE Eternal Kingdom...a place he once envisioned as a young boy nearly thirty years ago, when a car accident killed his mother and left him in a coma.
JACK: M-M-M...Mom...w-w-w...where am I?
LINDA POHLER: You've been given the call to be with the angels...
Jack perked his right brow up. "Surely this -couldn't- be my time to go," he thought to himself as the spirit of one Regina Kimble, his former kindergarten teacher and mentor, strolled in and stood shoulder to shoulder with Linda, a wide smile on her mug as well.
MISS KIMBLE: Jack, you have lived an amazing life on the earth, but now...it is time for you to make your ascent into eternity. Your spirit will always be there to comfort those you truly cherished the most.
JACK: F-F-F...Fiona?
MISS KIMBLE: She will always love you. You will be her spiritual guide from this time forward.
Jack nodded his head, looking down upon the gold-paved brick road before stepping through the gates and into the annals of time immemorial. Yet even in death, the man known to fans as "The Golden Eagle" marched onward, without ever losing the two things that made him tick more than anything else in the world.
He never lost his hard-working spirit.
He never lost his smile.
For on this day, John Wayne Mathias Gaither would forever be etched into the history books.
