Danger Zone is shaping up to be one of the biggest shows of the year (so far) with a stacked card. With the likes of Angel Blake and Andrew Jacobsen clashing over the Imperial Championship as well as a huge diamonds gauntlet match we are sure in for a hell of a good night of wrestling.
Derek Brooks and Mike Laszlo have had a heated feud the last few weeks and it looks to come to a head at Danger Zone when they meet in the squared circle. Mike Laszlo has made his intentions of climbing back to the top of the IWF mountain quite clear while Derek Brooks seems to have stalled out a little bit after his feud with James Gilmore. I don't expect to see a lot of mat wrestling in this one but there will surely be some heavy hits and whoever comes out the winner will be in prime position for the coming Roulette. My pick in this one is Mike Laszlo.
Then you've got the Invictus match with Spike Kane defending against Pax Stormcrow. Pax has made quite a name for himself since arriving, slowly working his way up into title contention. It's a shame such a bright young star is facing off against the legendary brute that is Spike Kane. I know I'm making it sound like Pax doesn't stand a chance but realistically who does against Spike Kane? The only man Spike hasn't been able to beat in recent memory is the current Imperial Champion. That being said, Pax may be the man to topple the mountain and that's why I'm going with the darkhorse in this one. Pax Stormcrow is walking away with the Invictus Championship.
Rayne recently regained the IWF shieldmaiden championship after having an incredibly short reign and her first defense this time around is a fatal four way. While Vivienne Rodgers and Abigail Spencer absolutely deserve this opportunity I can't think of anyone less deserving than Crystal Millar. Rayne has made Crystal her person bitch since returning to IWF. However Rayne isn't just facing Crystal and based on her last title defense it's hard for me to pick her as the winner, especially when you consider she doesn't have to be pinned to lose. I expect this match to be one of the highlights of the evening and I also expect us to see another new shieldmaiden champion in Vivienne Rodgers.
One of the matches I'm very excited for is the I Quit match between Nighthawk and Ulf Hednir. Ulf has been steam rolling his competition over last four plus weeks, literally. However Nighthawk had seen enough when Ulf tried to use a hammer to bludgeon and opponent. From there it's been a bit of a war of words but the talking stops at Danger Zone. This one is going to be brutal. It's going to be a beautiful disaster. I honestly cannot wait to see how this is going to play out. Ulf is a beast but personally I think he's bitten off more than he can chew this week. Nighthawk is looking to teach Ulf a serious lesson in humility and I think that is exactly what we are going to see Sunday.
A few weeks ago Dean Harper tried to recruit Bob Pooler to the Pack, for the first time ever Bob found a spine and turned a cult leader down. Now they're going to wrestle over the Man of Steel championship. Dean has been boarderline unstoppable since capturing the Man of Steel Championship and taking the reigns of the Pack whereas Bob has risen to new heights with an Imperial Championship opportunity last month. Both men are extremely skilled but Dean has the advantage of having defended his championship whereas Bob has found it difficult to capitalize on his opportunities. I'm picking Dean to retain here but it's gonna be close.
A feud that has been brewing for a while is Cable Arcane and Steve Awesome. Steve faked several injuries during his feud with Malo and even used one to steal a victory. Cable had enough and got a superkick for his effort. Now we've got this match. Cable Arcane is the self proclaimed best in the world, Steve Awesome calls himself the face of the franchise. These are two massive egos colliding in the center of the ring but in my opinion Steve is going to have an ace up his sleeve and steal another big victory on his road to Night of Immortals.
The biggest match of the night, literally, is the Diamonds Gauntlet match. The sole survivor will receive a Diamonds Championship opportunity. Technically anyone can win this match but it's really going to come down to the order they enter the match and how much stamina they have. When I look at the women in this match I see one clear winner and that's Astrid Hall. Astrid is coming off a shieldmaiden reign, she has a taste for gold and she's more than likely the strongest woman in this match. My gut feeling is she will power through to the end.
The final match of the night is a Angel of Death Match for the Imperial Championship. Angel Blake has been burying the competition, literally and fought his way into an Imperial Championship match last month. Blake came up short but he said he wasn't finished with Andrew and Andrew agreed. Andrew, to his credit, has become the most dominate and longest reigning Imperial Champion in history. No one has been able to touch him. Not men or Gods. So this match is going to be very interesting. While Andrew has been nothing short of amazing, the rules of this match play into the sort of brutality that Angel specializes. My gut says Andrew continues his reign but not without losing a piece of himself to God.
