Dark Lord Simon de Montfort, Steve Awesome, and 2 more like this

So we’ve reached that point on the path to Night of the Immortals, the show where the viewers themselves get to name the event. This year the show is going to be called Dark Reign, and with Angel “God” Blake as the world champion, Brooklyn Madrox as the women’s champion, and Spike Kane the roulette 2018 winner? I think it’s a pretty apt name. However, this Viewer’s Choice pay per view? It is stacking up to be one hell of a show, one that might give Night of the Immortals a run for it’s money, so, why don’t we take a look at it?
Redcap Vs Gibberg
Let’s not get to caught up in the ridiculous here, we know next to nothing about the Redcap. He’s weird, that’s pretty much all we know, and Gibberg? Weeeeelll….let’s just say this should be a one sided “audition piece” for the Redcap.
Xavier Cross Vs Mr Happy
The returning Xavier Cross will have his first proper match back as an IWF Superstar, against the enigmatic Mr Happy. Usually one to go out there and just put on a show, Mr Happy has shown moments of greatness, and a lust for violence. The same can be said about Xavier Cross, who announced himself as “Prometheus” last week, as he put it this is the Age of God’s.
Spike Kane Vs James Gilmore
What can essentially be boiled down to a “twitter beef” actually goes back over a year ago. It was at an Open Fight Night were Gilmore and Spike fought mere days after the passing of Xander Kane, and Spike Kane beat James Gilmore to within an inch of his life, were in not for some of the “boys from the back” coming down to stop Spike the landscape of IWF might be very different. Alas, here we are, could this spell revenge for Gilmore? It is, after all, an Extreme Rules match...but that does though, play into the hands of the “God of Xtreme” either way, expect blood.
CaBerto Vs TNT
With all due to respect to Teddy and Todd, the story here is more between Cable Arcane and Roberto Verona against Steve Awesome and el Grande Malo. There’s been a lot of tension between Awesomely Bueno and CaBerto which, ironically, may have been what put Cable and Verona on the same page in the first place. Regardless, this is a Tag Team World cup match, and we’ve already seen the drama of Dean Harper advancing at the cost of the Pack, so there very well may be a twist in the tale here. I just don’t expect Steve Awesome to stay at the commentary table and not try and steal some limelight.
Extreme Championship Ladder Match
In a move that was both expected yet surprising the Invictus Championship changed it’s name to the Extreme Championship while it was being held by Spike Kane. However, that title’s first official owner is Caleb Lockwood, and he had the pleasure of picking his opponents; Steve Awesome, Jason Sandman, and Ulf Hednir. There is no love lost between The Pack and The Council, who Sandman and Hednir once represented, and of course Steve Awesome could be the main antagonist to a fly. So this one could seriously get quite spicy, the three younger stars are hungry and have something to prove, but don’t for one second think that Steve Awesome doesn’t have the very same thing to prove. This right here, could end up being the match of the night.
Open Weight Championship Match
The newly rebranded Shield Maiden championship is defended by Vivienne Rodgers against Crystal Millar and Fiona McFly in a triple threat match. The added spice? If Vivienne retains, whoever she scores the pinfall or submission over cannot qualify for ANY title shots for three months. I’m sure it’s not too much of a surprise to some people in the back, as both Crystal and Fiona have had their fair share, but it puts a lot of pressure of Vivienne and how she approaches the match. Of course, if either of the other ladies wins the stipulation means nothing, as much as Viv could lose the title without even being pinned. Both Crystal and Fiona have been around for awhile now, so you know they’re going to go into this with their all. That being said? Vivienne Rodgers has been proving herself a very competent champion who lived up to the Shield Maiden legacy, and is now starting a new one as the Open Weight Champion.
World Championship Match
Nighthawk has to be the longest serving IWF wrestler that has never been a champion, now that might sound like an insult, but I actually mean it as a mark of respect. It shows his love for this sport, this business, and that what he does in the ring is far more important than the trophies in his cupboard. However, ever since Spike Kane attacked his school the “Wrestle Factory” last year, Nighthawk has been quite different, there’s been a rivalry there unseen in this federation, it’s revolved around Nighthawk, Spike Kane, Andrew Jacobsen, Jayson Matthews, and now, Angel Blake. The Age of Gods have essentially gone to war with the Masters of a Thousand Holds. Ever since the night they formed and cost Andrew Jacobsen the Imperial Title, Angel has since crowned himself the world champion once again, and the Age of God’s is going strong, but two men stand defiant, one almost cold, almost emotionless, The God Damned Nighthawk. He’s finally getting that big shot at THE title, and who better to go up against than God himself? This is a barn burner ladies and gentlemen, the underdog versus the tyrant, the student of the game vs the master of manipulation. It’s going to be high paced, it’s going to be intense, and it’s going to be a match for the ages.
Women’s World Championship Match
Brooklyn Madrox is the Women’s World Champion. Now, let that sink in for a second. This is, in no means meant as a slight to Brooklyn’s skills or wrestling skills, but in a division that host names like Rowan MacDonnough, Shea O’Hara, and Rayne? It’s just not something you’d expect to hear. She’s come an incredibly long way, and despite what your feelings on The Pack might be, she’s developed well in their care. On the other side? Stands a behemoth, a true warrior. Someone who brought out the best in the likes of O’Hara and Pandora Freeman, Astrid frikkin’ Hall. It’s such a mismatch in any other sport that it’d never happen, and as we saw last month Brooklyn did whatever she could to try and get out of that situation. However, Astrid got herself a rematch and the true Shield Maiden is coming after Brooklyn and that World Championship. I think Brooklyn has some serious growing up to do, and quickly, because Astrid is a force to be reckoned with and I have a feeling we’ll be chanting “skal” when the final bell rings.
Iron Maiden
Bring on the cliches, bring on the lyrics, I love me some Iron Maiden both the band, and the annual blood bath of a match where we find out which woman is going to get a world title shot at Night of the Immortals. We knew that Maxine Valentine had qualified very early on, and seemingly denied Abigail Spencer her spot, but she’s been given one by the powers that be. Rounding out the rest of the spots we have Dawn Halliwell, Helena Sawyer, Ciara O’Conner, and Rayne. Rayne brings an intensity, aggression, and fire that is matched by the likes of Dawn, and perhaps Ciara. Helena and Abigail should be an interesting match up again, not to mention the monster in the midst Maxine Valentine. With Rayne’s experience, the rest of these ladies have youth on their side. They’re hungry, and they want that spot at Night of Immortals just as much as she does. Will it be a fairytale end to a fantastic run for Rayne, or will be see a true Iron Maiden emerge in the women’s division?
It’s going to be an insane show, and I for one cannot wait to see it. I’m Tyler Jacobs, and I’ll catch you on the flipside.
