Chapter I
“NIGHT TERRORS”
It was a late night at Fiona’s ranch near Fredericksburg.
As a cold front-induced heavy line of showers and thunderstorms passed through the area, Fiona McFly was fast asleep. She laid in her bed, her eyes closed as the sounds of Queen’s music rang through her consciousness after she and her newfound friend, Sean Morita, had gone to see Bohemian Rhapsody this past Friday. It was a pleasant experience in her internal mind, two hours of fawning over a band she had idolised as a child whilst living on these lands.
Externally, it wasn’t pleasant sleeping weather. The power had gone out.
The only sounds that could be heard were the severe storms that raged on.
Everything else was enveloped in complete darkness--save for the lightning flashes all-around.
Yet despite the lousy weather, Fiona’s slumber continued. Perhaps, in her brain, it was an opportunity to collect her thoughts about the Heiress to the Throne. It’s been a long, grueling tournament filled with mostly downs so far. Everything she had experienced throughout the series had left her to ponder several questions as the squall line grew more intense, even by November standards.
Was she good enough?!
Was she strong enough?!
Little did Fiona realise that, as she slept, a shadowy figure had snuck in through the window in the farmhouse’s living room. He tiptoed along on the tile floor, barely making a sound as he entered the open doorway to Fiona’s bedroom. The lightning flashed for a moment, revealing a heavily-scarred visage that was eerily reminiscent of her professor friend. The man, wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans, slowly crept along and crawled into bed alongside her.
Fiona felt a hand coursing down her body, then she opened her eyes…
..she let out a blood-curdling scream as “Sean” leapt on top of her.
The two would soon find themselves on the floor, the midst of a violent struggle as more bursts of light and thunder pulsated throughout the house. Fiona, relying on her own animalistic instincts, struggled mightily to get the creep off of her. She gave him a good, healthy kick to his groin, then a right fist to the face that broke his nose. Fiona got up and ran towards the living room as the uninvited stranger gave chase.
She pulled down a 12-guage shotgun from a small rack and loaded it. By then, however, she was cornered as the man stalked towards her, pulling out a long machete and giggling maniacally as Fiona pointed the weapon at his chest. She loathed utilising guns of any kind for personal self-defence, for they were considered uncivilised in her mind, but in this no-win scenario, she had no choice.
She cocked the weapon, and just as her attacker took another step in her direction...
[BANG!!]
At that point in time, there was silence. The world around Fiona turned into a pitch-black void.
The next moment, she found herself leaping out of bed to the sound of an alarm, but not in her farmhouse bedroom. At first, as her body trembled from head to toe, she thought of the experience as nothing more than a horrific nightmare. Yet she couldn't help but ponder a query in her mind as she looked out the window and discovered she was on the top floor of a major hotel in Lisbon, Portugal.
"Is "Doc" a good man. I did enjoy that movie after all."
"Or is there something more sinister about him than I realised..."
