The music in the club was loud, probably in attempts to drown on the conversation around. Odds are because the sort of people who frequented this sort of establishment were not the sort to be great conversationalist. The lighting was dark and subdued. Arguably for the mood. Most likely because you didn’t want to have a good view.
Women in skimpy outfits made the rounds, some collecting drink orders while others were offering brief diversions from life in the dark couches on the edge of the room. Gabby, Nate and Nick had dragged Pax out to ‘cheer him up.’
“I need you to know this may be one of the most uncomfortable moments of my life.”
“Don’t trip Pax. Just relax. Get your mind off of things.”
“Ya but why here?”
“Because Tiddies make everyone feel better boo.”
“OK but like… this is weird. Gabby is here and….”
“Gabby is face deep in that girls cleavage already.”
The three men looked over to the side, where in fact Gabriela had started rather enthusiastic tipping, speaking spanish in a sultry tone to the dancer.
“OK, so maybe we gotta worry about Gabby pulling all the game…”
Nate and Nick push Pax down into a chair at the bar, taking a seat on either side of him.
“Look hooker, we just want you to take your mind off things. I’m here, willing to stare the beast straight into its all consuming gaze for you.”
“Well if I wasn’t turned off before…”
“I don’t understand straight people.”
“Nate, I think you are missing the point where Pax almost admitted to having a sexual thought.”
“No shit! Our baby is growing up.”
Nate mimes wiping a tear from his cheek while Nick drops a Five down in front of Pax. Pax eyes it for a moment, waiting for them to be distracted and pushes it over discreetly into Gaby’s pile.
“I’m just saying, this seems like a really weird place to…. What did she just do with that guys glasses.”
“She done straight wiped them on her coochie… That can’t be sanitary”
“I think we lost Gabby….”
They turn back over towards Gabriela, who had crawled into a stirppers lap and was dancing along with her. They stare in a sort of awestruck wonder for a long moment before looking back up onto the stage. Nate drops another 5 in front of Pax who moves it back in front of him casually. Nate doesn’t notice this bit of treachery until a dancer crawls over to him, picking it up with her teeth and growling at him.
“Girl what is you doing?!”
“Hooker didn’t you know. That’s how cis girls say hi.”
“Ya Nate, you should be polite.”
The moment was interrupted by a crashing sound and shrieked out Spanish. They look over towards Gabby, applying a headlock onto another Patron and smashing her elbow into his forehead.
“We should go….”

The Camera comes on with Pax, standing at the top of the Sears tower. He has his hands against the glass, looking out over the city of Chicago below him for a moment. He turns around and grins, stepping forward as people move around in the background.
“Sup Fans. Time for me to run down some more competition coming into the Roulette. You ready for this?”
He grins brightly at the camera, shrugging his shoulders easily.
“So, let’s go through the new kids first. The two boys I threw down with last night. Freakke, where was that fire I asked for? You had it in the first match we threw down with but this time it was nowhere to be seen. You giving it up already? To bad. You could of had something. Which leads us to The ‘Truther’...”
He shakes his head slowly.
“I would have sworn up and down that you were just a joke. And then you go and prove me right? You take a break in the middle of our match to go ahead and read some papers? Get out of here. You don’t belong here. We work to get where we are. I expect you to pull off some more goofy stuff and then get tossed out. Move on.”
He takes a breath and shrugs his shoulders.
“I’m gonna admit… I don’t know what’s goin on with Rob Diamond and Lord Dominicus. Are they the same person? Long separated twins? The same person from a different dimension? Don’t laugh, we had all that shit with Thaddeus last year. I’m a believer. Don’t matter either way. I’ll throw you both out onto your backs. You gonna be distracted on your Highlander style deathmatch thing you got going on. You kids have fun with that.”
He shakes his head for a moment.
“Todd Williams…”
He laughs for a moment.
“You gonna even make it to the ring man? Even if you do, you have never beaten me and you never will. Dream on. Go back to your fancy hotel job and leave this stuff to the professionals. And then there is Steve.”
Pax takes a deep breath, steadying himself.
“Steve I’m told you used to be somebody. I guess you have hooked up with Gilmore and Diamond now. Can’t pretend how that makes sense but there we are. Doesn’t change anything. Far as I am concerned you’re still a scum bag and I’ll drop you to the mat just as hard as I did the last time. Dream on man. Your time has passed you by. You just gotta ride Diamond and Gilmore’s coat tails to relevancy again.”
He smiles and shrugs at the camera again.
“I’m taking it. I’m gonna come out of this match at the top. The last one standing. I’m gonna go to Night of the Immortals and throw Cross around the ring. Trust. You are looking at the uncrowned World Champion. It’s only a matter of time.”
He tosses up two fingers on his hand and grins.
“Peace Out.”
The camera fades as he moves back to the window.
