A brief statement from Brooklyn Madrox earlier today confirmed that Rowan MacDonnough, two-time former Women's World Champion, sustained a severe concussion in addition to other injuries at the conclusion of her match with Vivienne Rodgers during the High Stakes Pay-Per-View.
The injury occurred when Vivienne Rodgers, her leg having been injured by Rowan earlier in the match, lost strength in her leg that caused her to slip and lose balance while delivering an apron powerbomb to the former champion. IWF officials believe the injury to have been an accident, though note that both women signed waivers prior to the match acknowledging the severe risks involved in the match stipulation in question. While deliberately injuring an opponent during an Abyss Match is "frowned upon" by IWF staff, it is one of the few matches where such actions are not contractually prohibited. This is the second time that Ms. MacDonnough, the innovator of the Abyss Match, has sustained a severe injury within its confines, raising questions with regards to whether or not the match should be banned.
IWF has no active contacts within the Centralia Compound medical staff, as the community where Rowan lives is legendarily insular and reclusive. Ms. Madrox has stated that she will ensure that Ms. MacDonnough receives the best medical care available, she would not comment on the extent of Rowan's other injuries, present condition, or recovery process.
The IWF Locker Room has shown no sympathy in regards to Ms. MacDonnough's injuries, as the wrestler has earned a reputation for being extremely dangerous. One source, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that she, quote, "Wish[ed] Vivienne had done the world a f***ing favor and hit the b***h's head hard enough to pop the f***ing thing of so that the c**t wouldn't f***ing hurt anyone else, ever again."
When asked when she expected Ms. MacDonnough might return to the ring, Brooklyn Madrox simply replied "Sooner than you expect."
