Jaames Gilmore and eventual 2019 Heir to the Throne winner Elijah Lassiter went toe-to-toe this past Sunday at Legacy in a best-of-three falls match for the StrongStyle Championship. By all accounts, it was a hybrid of wrestling moves and martial arts brawling. Yet one spot in particular nearly turned into a scary situation for the one many affectionately dub "Little Bear."
Gilmore missed a suicide corksrew plancha from the third rope, but he miscalculated his fall and the end result saw him hit his forehead on the space between the padded arena floor and the steel entrance ramp. He was on the ground for several moments after the botch before recovering, only to lose the second fall of the match. Before the third fall even began, the referee called for EMTs and trainers to check upon the StrongStyle Champion via a battery of tests as dictated by concussion protocols. The match resumed upon the referee's and head trainer's "all-clear."
After the match and as a precaution, James was taken to a Birmingham hospital to undergo further concussion tests; doctors gave him the "all-clear" shortly afterward. Upon watching replays of the face plant, Gilmore acknowledged "well, looks like I'm gonna be on the SportsCenter 'Not Top 10' this week."
