“One snap for the dying
One click to end the day
Another story with a mangled scene
It couldn't happen any other way”
I bet you’re proud of yourself aren’t you Lex? I bet you’re sitting there scheming and plotting, trying to put the icing on the proverbial cake. You’ve made no attempts to hide your tactics, no attempt to hide the cowardly acts that you and your “Juggernauts” are using. Do you think I’m an idiot? Do you think I don’t know you are behind what happened to Rob? It’s a little bit of a coincidence isn’t it Lex? You call me out to the ring moments before my best friend gets attacked by two masked men. Who are they Lex? Tell me….because they need to be punished, Rob needs to be avenged.
That’s right, I’m an Avenger.
My best friend is laying at home, unable to be here. Unable to do what he loves doing, going out there and putting on one hell of a show. My best friend will not be at Extreme Endurance this Sunday because of the cowardly acts you and your goons committed two weeks ago. Before you get on your high horse Lex….no, I wouldn’t do the same. Not once in my career have I blindsided an opponent backstage. I’ve never been cowardly enough to get somebody else to do my dirty work. Oh yeah, I’ve attacked people myself. I’ve done some really nasty shit in my time Lex, but I have never been too afraid to get my feet wet. You see Lex, I know what you were really thinking, and I know what really motivated you. You were scared of InFamous. You were worried that Rob and I were going to derail your little Juggernauts train, just like we did the week after you and Xander let your true intentions be known. Yeah, you stood tall that night, but the week after we knocked you down a peg, and not a single soul on this roster took you for the threat that you are.
Everybody saw that you could both be defeated.
I’ve said it before Lex, I’ve said it to both you and Xander. I’m not afraid of you. You can come at me any which way, sneak attack my friends, take out my support….I’ll just find more. I can be your reckoning if I’m pushed Lex. Until now I’ve been fairly tame, I’ve been fairly controlled. I haven’t lost my cool, and I haven’t gone to lengths to take you down. I’ve been paper thin, showing you up front what is coming your way, who is coming your way, and keeping the smile on my face. Going out there and doing it for the fans, smiling all the time and just trying to put on a good show…...but not anymore.
You tried to end my friend.
I know you might seem to think I’m stuck on that fact, but it’s a pretty big issue to me Sense. It’s a pretty big fucking glaring issue that I’m willing to do almost anything to rectify. You see, I know that Rob will be watching Extreme Endurance whilst he recovers, biding his time until he can return and exact vengeance himself, but in the meantime? He can get a front row seat to me single handedly ending your Imperial Title reign, and bringing your Juggernaut dream crashing down to the ground. Just like the saying goes Lex…..I plan on killing the snake, so I’m gunning for you….the head. Cut off the head of the snake, and the body dies.
I’m not exactly planning on cutting your head off Lex, but trust me when I tell you this…..they will have to stop me from putting you down once and for all when we get into that ring on Sunday. Last Man Standing won’t be enough punishment for you, but it will be a starting point. I won’t be caged by the rules of a wrestling match, the God of Xtreme will be unleashed, and you will finally feel the wrath of a Kane unlike you have never felt before. My brother has taken you to war before, but believe me when I tell you Lex…..
My brother has nothing on me.

Willy Carter: Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Willy Carter and this week for IWF.com we bring you a special behind the scenes interview with the #1 contender, Spike Kane. Please welcome him at this time.
At these words Spike walks out onto the small lot and shakes the hand of Willy Carter before taking a seat.
Spike Kane: Hey Willy, good to see you. How are you?
Willy Carter: I am well thank you Spike, and thank you for joining me here tonight.
The two share a glance which seems to say that Willy had been trying to get an interview with Spike for a while.
Spike Kane: Anytime Willy, it’s a busy week, but I’m here now to help promote Extreme Endurance.
Willy Carter: Of course! This Sunday night live we have Extreme Endurance where the Man of Steel division is on display in the Main Event, with the reigning, defending champion Ryan Blade taking on Mike Laszlo! What do you think about that match up Spike?
Spike makes a “not impressed” face as he grabs a bottle of water from the small table and opens it as he talks.
Spike Kane: Honestly, I gotta say why in the blue hell is Mike Laszlo in the main event? The dude is so obsessed with getting the last word that he let’s his in ring work suffer. I got nothing but respect for Ryan Blade, he’s come in and taken that division by storm. I reckon it’s really nut up or shut up time for Laszlo, and I’m hoping the kid can prove me wrong, but I’m going with Blade there. Either way though, these two get to go for at least thirty minutes and even though I dislike Laszlo as a person he’s one hell of a performer and the fans are really in for a treat there.
Carter nods to Spike in agreement with his final comment.
Willy Carter: But you yourself will be in action this Sunday Spike. Not in tag team action like we have become accustomed to seing you in, nope. This week you face the Imperial Champion Lex Sense in a match that was only announced last night, a last man standing match! That has to send goosebumps down your arms, right?
Spike Kane: I have to say Willy, I’ve never been so apprehensive about a match in my life. I mean that, I’m not playing it up, and I’m not trying to create tension. Many people have written me off, they think I’m an old man, they think that I don’t have what it takes anymore. Xander said as much last week, as did Cyrus Daniels. It’s amazing that they all forget that I had to fight five completely able and talented individuals to get this shot. I didn’t fluke it, I didn’t worm my way in. I fought and earned my shot, and it’s my chance to avenge the loss I have to Lex Sense from only a few weeks ago. People may look past me Willy, but I haven’t had a chance like this since the No Limits Ladder match in nCw.
Willy Carter: Wow Spike, that’s quite a long time ago. It seems like you’ve always been involved in the main event scene, but I had no idea it had been so long since you were involved in the world title picture.
Spike Kane: People always forget it Willy, because they fill in the blanks themselves. They picture me as this glory hound who only cares about himself, yet none of them realise that even Mike Laszlo had more title shots than me. Hell, HonorBound have had more tag team title shots here in IWF than I ever had world title shots in nCw, and we haven’t even reached our fourth pay per view yet!
Willy seems to turn a little sombre at the mention of HonorBound and Spike picks up on it.
Willy Carter: Speaking of which Spike…..I have to….
Spike Kane: The thing with Cable…..right?
Spike seems pissed at Willy for bringing it up, but he takes a deep breath as Willy nods his head.
Spike Kane: Look man, I’ve always said outright that I will take things to the xtreme in the ring, it’s why I have the nickname that I do. People forget that I didn’t name myself this, I was given it…..I earned it. Every single week I warn my opponents that I will do whatever it takes to win, especially when the tag team titles are on the line. I know a lot of people expected me to lose interest in them now that I’m the number one contender for the Imperial title, but they were sorely incorrect. Those titles mean everything to me because they signify the bond I have with Rob, they signify that my best friend in the whole world has my back…..
Spike stops mid sentence as he seems to get a little choked up mentioning Rob Diamond.
Spike Kane: I mean he was. We were, until those cowards took him out. Whoever they were, I swear I’ll get revenge, I swear on anything you want me to. I’m not stupid either Willy, I know that the Juggernauts were behind this, and I swear each and every one of them will pay before I’m done….nobody hurts my friends!
Willy Carter: Speaking of which….Davey Ortega seemed like he was desperately trying to get your attention this last week on Sacrifice. Though we did make a note of the announcement the IWF brass made on Twitter that if anybody got involved they would be fire….that had to tear you up inside.
Spike shakes his head before rubbing a hand over his forehead.
Spike Kane: I hated it Willy. Xavier Cross and I were itching to get out there and stop Davey from his madness, but Ryan Blade stopped us. We would be no good to Joe if we were sitting at home without a job. I can only apologise to Joe for having to go through what he did because of me. I am sorry Joe, I’m sorry that Davey Ortega is a frikkin’ lunatic and he can’t get over something that happened six years ago. I;m sorry Joe that I couldn’t come out there and stop him, and even more so….I’m sorry that you needed my help in the first place brother. I accept responsibility for the mental state of Davey Ortega…...and I’ll get to Ortega in due time, trust me on that Willy. I’ll get to Davey once the immediate threat of Lex Sense and the Juggernauts is over and done.
Willy turns to face the camera with a slightly shocked look on his face after Spike’s words to both Joe and Davey Ortega.
Willy Carter: Well ladies and gentlemen, that is it from us keep an eye out for part two of this exclusive interview with Spike Kane later in the week.
The scene fades on the midway point of the interview with Spike looking a little more than pissed off, and Willy Carter looking a little nervous.
~~~
The last time we met in the ring competitively, you defeated me. Clean. You were better than me on that night, and I’m not ashamed to admit it Lex. If anything, defeating me helped legitimise you as a solid champion, so I guess kudos are in order really? I know I congratulated you on winning the title in the first place, but I really do mean it because you’ve taken that Imperial Title and it seemed liked for a short while not a single soul on the roster wanted to step up and challenge you for that belt. I know I didn’t step up….why?
Because I didn’t deserve it.
I lost to you when I had my chance to earn my spot, but would you believe it luck shined on me. I was given another chance, a shot at redemption, and before you diminish it and dust it off as nothing. I went through five other men to earn this shot, one of them being my own tag team partner. So that in itself should show you the lengths I am prepared to go to ensure that I become the next Imperial Champion. Much like you feel like you will not be able to justify the things you may have to do to keep that title….I have never frightened away from that. You were right, there is a darkness inside of me, if you paid attention to the tag team division you’ve brushed off so easily you will see that I’ve put my body on the line to ensure victory, I’ve caused severe harm to my enemies to ensure victory, to make sure that my hand was raised at the end of the match.
Just ask Cable Arcane.
I conceded the point that you earned your Imperial Championship Lex, much like you have to concede that I earned my shot at you. You see that loss that I suffered at your hands, it was humbling, it was an eye opener, but most of all, it was motivation. You see, I think that running roughshot all over the tag division and anyone who dared even think of entering the tag division had left me a little jaded. I was complacent. However, you brought me crashing down to earth, and since then I’ve had a single minded focus, I wanted to get back on that horse, I wanted to try again. To step right up to your face and turn the other cheek, show you that just because I lost doesn’t mean it will stop me. Nobody is undefeatable, not even your buddy Xander who likes to pretend he is. I’ve been doing this for far too long to even begin to think that such a thing is even possible. So I accept the shots that have been fired by both sides.
This thing is far from over.
From the first night Rob and I have stood against you. Since the moment your little idea began to come to fruition, we have stood in your way. I have stood in your way, and despite the fact you’ve taken out my partner, I still stand here. Defiant. Resolute. Confident. I’m ready to go to war Lex, I’m ready to put my body on the line, and in the process put your own on the line too. I’ve worked hard throughout my career, and I always get shit done when it really needs to be, so when you look across the ring from me this week, don’t see Brad Kane’s brother, don’t see the man you defeated a few weeks ago, don’t see the man that beat you and Lex a few weeks earlier…..look at the man who has created such a legend that his name is known world wide. Look at The God of Xtreme in all of his glory, because I swear to anything that is holy Lex….you will not be standing by the end of the night. I will take you down, I will break you….and I will become the new Imperial Champion.
And you?
You’ll realise that just because you think you are untouchable it doesn’t mean you are. You’ll realise that making things personal was the worst thing you could have done. I won’t stop Lex. I won’t stay down. You’ll have to kill me to defeat me, because this Sunday I’m not just going out there to beat you, I’m not just going out there to take the Imperial Title from you…..
I’m doing it for Rob.
Willy Carter: Welcome back ladies and gentlemen, I’m Willy Carter here with the Imperial number one contender, Spike Kane. Spike, earlier we spoke about the main event of Extreme Endurance, I’d like to get your thoughts on the ongoing drama between former Imperial Champion Joe Everyman, and another friend of yours, Roberto Verona.
Spike takes a minute to respond, knowing that it’s quite a delicate situation.
Spike Kane: I’ll be honest Willy, I’m a little torn. Trust me, when Joe defeated Lex to become the Imperial Champion, I about flipped my lid man. I’ve been a supporter of Joe Everyman ever since the Xtreme Hardcore Federation days. I was happy to see Joe finally cast off the stigma people usually involved in the higher up parts of federations had labelled him with. It was great for Joe, and it was a great advertisement for the company itself, showing that despite us carrying on the legacy of nCw, it’s still a fresh start. However, as a person who has suffered with substance abuse in the past, I can see that Roberto Verona has an extremely valid point. The thing is, I think Berto is just going about things a bit wrong is all.
Willy Carter: The substance abuse you mentioned, this was prior to your time in nCw?
The question forces Spike to lower his head and chew on the inside of his lip a little. The question itself obviously forcing Spike to remember a dark time in his life.
Spike Kane: That’s right Willy. For a while I lowered myself, I became addicted and I almost threw my life away. When I was younger a few friends were into smoking weed, and I gave into peer pressure, and joined in…..and it was just a gateway drug, a gateway to the lowest point of my life. I became addicted to heroin, and I almost killed myself in the process. This was whilst I was under contract with the aforementioned XHF. Luckily for me Mongo the Destroyer actually helped me with my problem, instead of kicking me to the curb. There was one point in nCw where everything was falling apart, when I slipped….it was River who stopped me from falling. Despite it all, I’ll never forget that.
Willy nods his head paying incredibly close attention to Spike’s story.
Willy Carter: So would you have any words for Joe Everyman? Any advice?
Spike Kane: Simply to accept the help that’s being offered. It’s ok to admit that you have a problem, that you have a flaw. We’re all here to help you. You might not like the way Roberto has gone about things, but look at it this way…..he didn’t fire you. That shows you that he cares Joe, it shows you that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Join a support group, go to rehab…..whatever it takes. Get yourself clean on your own terms, and come back fighting fit and get right back into that fight for the Imperial Title!
Spike takes a deep breath as he finishes before taking a sip of his water, obviously the subject is still a little touchy, and being friends with both Joe and Roberto, he probably feels caught in the middle.
Willy Carter: Thank you for that Spike. I hope that Joe finds some solace in those words and comes out of this at the end, but if I may direct this interview back towards Extreme Endurance and the fact that the tag team championships will not be defended on the show. Were you a part of that decision, or were you just informed?
Spike leans forward, obviously vested in this subject.
Spike Kane: Dude, seriously. I won that number one contenders match, and right after it Riley Griffiths comes up to me and tells me that Rob and I have to defend our belts the following week. He tried to tell me that it was for my own benefit, and that it was best for business. He wanted me fighting fit for Lex, and not worrying about HonorBound…..well, HonorBound got theirs...even if I had to do it without Rob.
Willy Carter: Yes, there were some horrible circumstances where the Juggernauts lured you out to the ring whilst Rob was attacked leaving you alone to face HonorBound in the cage….but thankfully, a man entangled in your past showed up to help you out. Jake “The Ace” Conway!
A chuckle slips from Spike’s mouth and he closes his eyes, remembering the moment when The Ace’s music hit.
Spike Kane: Damn straight. I owe enough to Jake as it is, but it meant an awful lot to me that he came out there and put his body on the line just to help me out. To help retain a championship that he has no claim to, to help InFamous even if he doesn’t get on with Rob. It was a significant moment in our friendship, and I’ll never forget that. Because of Jake I don’t have to worry about HonorBound or the tag team championships, I can focus on Lex and his gang of goons.
Willy Carter: That you can Spike. We wish you nothing but the best of luck against Lex this Sunday Night at Extreme Endurance. Thank you once again for joining me this evening, and we hope that things go well for you on Sunday.
Spike leans across and shakes the hand of Willy Carter.
Spike Kane: Not a problem at all Willy. Thanks for having me, and you’ll be invited to the celebrations after Sunday, count on it.
The two begin to talk a little more animatedly as the feed from the microphones cuts once again and we fade away.
~~~
At the end of the day we have the chance to steal the show come Sunday, and I know damn straight that the match the two of us are capable of delivering would eclipse everything that has happened in IWF to date. I don’t want you to get the wrong idea Lex, I respect you as a competiter, you have the ability to get it done in the ring, obviously - else you wouldn’t be the Imperial Champion. Despite what may have been said, not once have I thought that you were not good enough to be the Imperial Champion…..you’ve proven that over and over. The thing is, you always brush me off like I’m nothing. You brush me accomplishments off like they are nothing, but when I do the same you call me a hypocrite. Now, now, we shan't get into a mud slinging contest, but if the shoe fits Lex....
This Sunday is a big night for me for several reasons. For revenge, for redemption, for validation. I know that I deserve to be at the top of this federation, I know that people have over looked me ever since I lost my title to Lance Ryan in nCw. The brass did everything they could to ensure they kept The Spiked One away from their biggest prize. Yet despite it all I still carved a legacy and I will always be rembered as one of that companies greats. I don't need to go into detail, because I know that you know all about it Lex. You are the kind of guy who does his homework on his opponents, which I can both respect and appreciate. Its a part of this thing that we do that a lot of people don't bother with anymore. They like to fill the gaps on their minds with whatever crap floats into their brain.
But we use it to find weaknesses.
That's the reason why you brought up my drug habbit Lex, I'm not naive. You tried to throw me off my game, in fact your whole process is an attempt to throw me off my game. Take out my tag team partner, try to get me attacked, attack Ace.....what next? You going to kidnap Brad? You going to tell me how my wife left me for you? That my son will call you daddy? It won't work Lex because I've been through it all before, and I've done it a before.
Spike Kane is the progenitor of all things.
As arrogant as it sounds, there's only so many times things can be done in seventeen years, and when you get to the level that o am at everything is just a tired repeat of something else. So what I'm saying is, everything you think of - I've already done it. I know your endgame Lex. I know how this works, just like my Empire worked. Thing is, I've got a track record of standing up to groups, and I've got a good record of ending them too. It's about time you got to see the man you've been asking for isn't it? It's about time I showed you my own monster, and I will Lex. You can bet on that. And at the end of the night, when my hand is raised victorious and every little one of your friends lays around you beaten and broken.
You will bloody hail to the King!
“So die alone
This is the one thing that I won't do
So say your prayers
Cause I ain't leaving here without you”
