"I didn't mean to hurt him...
Those were your words Spike, right after it happened. Words that ring as empty and hollow to me as most people's foolish bravado. Scores of men have been defeated by you over the years, yet more often than not they bear no indicator of what happened. Men who are much more deserving of the violent brutality you like to perpetuate, and yet they receive none of the same treatment.
Forgive me, if I call you on your lies.
You knew exactly what you're doing. Knew exactly the moment it happened, what the results would be. You meant each and every single inch of that flame's touch, and yet, there you were, pretending that it was a simple accident. Passing off the blame to him, as though he put that fire into your hands and told you to do what you did. We, as professionals, are certainly aware of what each man who steps into the ring is capable of. But to stand there and hold your arms up as if to say, it's not my fault..
It's downright childish, and frankly, a little insulting.
You can't be a God, if you pass off responsibility for what you've done on those you've done it to. You aren't extreme, if your every action you claim you were forced into.
You're a coward, a school yard bully who uses his violent nature to try and cover up for his own failing inadequecies. Even being lumped into the same category with you makes me slightly disgusted on the inside.
The people I've destroyed may have deserved some form of punishment, but I've never passed the blame on them. I know what I did, I chose my actions and the sin for performing them is mine alone. I didn't run to twitter and try to convince the world I wasn't responsible. I didn't call a press conference and have some jerk in a suit tell people how wrong their perceptions are.
Sell yourself as Xtreme or a God all you like.. I no longer believe you..
Case in point, this week I'm facing Bryce Daniels. Easily, I could pass all your sins onto him. I could try to use him to make an example, try to intimidate you with some sort of vengeful wrath on an innocent man. Something I know you've done multiple times over your career. But I'm not you. I don't hide behind fancy labels.
I am what you see.
As for you, Bryce.. I hope you're prepared for a fight. Because even though I may seem callous or apathetic because I'm not on some quest for vengeance for what happened to Cable, that doesn't mean I'm going to take this any less seriously than I do.
You're going to need to bring the fight to me. Because if you sit and wait for it, I will destroy you.
And I will stand there aftwards, and accept responsibility for my actions.
That is my honor.
Unbreakable."

{Amber left, Gjenrei was standing there. There was a long silence, then Cable felt the presence behind him.}
Cable: I want to be alone.. why does nobody understand that?
Gjenrei: I figured you'd want news if it came. It did, so here I am.
{Cable half turned his head.}
Cable: What did he find out?
Gjenrei: The doctor who was there for the birth is deceased, but all of his files were archived by the Phoenix Internal Medicine group as part of their obsession with having detailed records. It may take some time to get the files in a legal manner, but our guy is certain he can find a way for just a peek at them. That will give us some names at least.
Cable: So, in other words, we've made no real progress.
Gjenrei: In a word, no, we have not.
{Gjenrei heard the sigh from across the room.}
Cable: Well, thanks for telling me.
Gjenrei: Do not mention it. I will have more information soon, I think.
Cable: .....
Gjenrei: How do you feel?
{Cable turned around fully, ready to snap at the man, but found that the eyes staring back at him didn't flinch for his new look, there was no pity or remorse, just concern.}
Cable: Like I walked through hell without an umbrella.
Gjenrei: I'd imagine so.
{There was a short silence.}
Cable: What would you do? If it happened to you..
Gjenrei: You already know, for it's the same as what you're going to do..
{Cable turned back to look out the window.}
Cable: ....Yes.. that I do know...
Gjenrei: Just do me a favor.
Cable: What's that..?
Gjenrei: Make sure you do it, because it's what you want.
Cable: Nobody tells me what to do...
{Another long silence.}
Gjenrei: Make sure it stays that way.
{Then, he was gone, and Cable had his solitude.}
