Wrestler's Name: Jessé Marchand
Nickname(s): 'The Iceman'
Gimmick:
Jessé Marchand is the son of a longshoreman, who grew up a fan of professional wrestling in both Canada and the United States. After graduation from school, he worked the docks, much like his father. It was a steady job with a decent check; and because his father was held in such high regard among the other men on the docks, Jessé was always looked after and well taken care of. That fact wasn't lost on him. Despite his immense respect and appreciation for this, his father and his peers- the life of a longshoremen wasn't the life he wanted for himself, however. He wanted to chase his dream of becoming a professional wrestler, and work in front of sold-out crowds the way the stars of NCW did. So he would save money out of every one of his paychecks to eventually attend a professional wrestling school.
Unfortunately for Marchand, his first attempt at training for a career in the professional wrestling world would be a failure. He had enrolled in a local school in Canada, ran by a Canadian wrestling 'legend' named Paul Redwood. Redwood was a large man, and was somewhat lax with his training direction. Due in part to Marchand's lack of size, Redwood also didn't really see any 'money' in the kid. Worsening the situation, Redwood's poor training would also extend to the other students. This would lead to Jessé having his shoulder severely dislocated by one of the other students in the class while trying to learn a new technique, temporarily ending Jessé's dream.
He remained committed, however. So he would go home to heal. He would listen to the pleas of his Mother to find a safer, more stable line of work. He would listen to the lectures from his Father about how Jessé would never be able to support a family wrestling in front of fifty people in gymnasiums, and that he should go back to work at the docks. Jessé didn't want to be his Father, though. He respected his Father, and didn't look down on his profession. Jessé simply wanted to create his own path.
As fate would have it, after making a full recovery, he would attempt to chase his dream once again around the same time as Tara Fenix would open her wrestling school in Hartford, Connecticut. It was reasonably close to where he lived, and the chance to train under Tara, who had been where he wanted to go- the pinnacle of the wrestling world- was an opportunity he relished. So he spent every dime he had and enrolled in her school.
The decision proved to be life-changing for Jessé. Tara taught him a style of wrestling he could excel at: and he identified with- and appreciated- her attention to detail and pursuit of perfection. Marchand became somewhat of a technical wizard, and very gifted submission specialist. He would train in the gym before class, learn attentively during class, and practice what he had learned in class that night. It wouldn't be uncommon for him to spend twelve, fourteen or sixteen hours a day working on learning and perfecting his new trade. He has a relentless drive. Unsurprisingly, he graduated from the school and would be set to begin his journey.
He spent some time working the Independent wrestling scene back in his native Canada. In the latter half of 2019, he was paired up with another Canadian wrestler named Travis Reinhart in a tag team, and the two found an instant chemistry. They would wrestle together as a team for quite a few independent promotions in Canada throughout 2020, piling up victories and attracting eyes. In late 2020, the Imperial Wrestling Federation expressed some interest in signing the duo to expand their tag team division.
His path has now lead him to the new pinnacle of the industry: the IWF.
Jessé Marchand doesn't really have a gimmick, per se. He's a very straightforward, no nonsense type of individual who works tirelessly at his craft. Having worked the indies for a few years, he has earned the nickname the 'Iceman' because of his Canadian roots, and because he is always calm, cool and collected under pressure.

Theme Music: "In The Air Tonight" by Nonpoint
Entrance:
{ The lights in the arena darken, and blue and white spotlights are cast upon the stage. Snow falls from the rafters, gently dancing in the lights, and landing softly onto the stage as the opening to Nonpoint's "In The Air Tonight" echoes throughout the arena. Jessé Marchand walks out onto the stage, laser focused on the ring. }
Alison Valance: Coming down the aisle... standing five feet and eleven inches tall... and weighing in at two hundred seven pounds... from St. Johns, New Foundland, Canada... The Iceman... Jessé Marchand!
{ Marchand walks down the ramp with purpose. }
Well, when you told me you were drowning
I would not lend a hand
I've seen your face before, my friend
But I don't know if you know who I am
Well, I was there and I saw what you did
I saw it with my own two eyes
So you can wipe off that grin
I know where you've been
It's all been a pack of lies
{ Marchand slides underneath the bottom rope on his stomach, and then quickly springs to his feet. He leaps up onto the second turnbuckle as the drums in the song hit. He brings his hand in, tapping his fist to the point of his nose three times before hopping down. He paces back and forth for a moment as he removes his jacket to carefully hand it down to the girl at ringside, and the lights come up as the song begins to fade out at the 01:53 mark. }
Primary Style: Technical
Secondary Style: Submission Artist
Other Style: He can brawl, but prefers not to, as it's not his strongest skill.
Strengths:
*Technical Prowess- He's very gifted technically, appearing wise beyond his actual experience level. He can go hold-for-hold with almost anyone.
*Endurance- He trains his conditioning constantly, understanding he must outwork many opponents to be successful.
*Submissions- He's very adept at isolating an opponent's body part, working it, and gaining a submission victory.
*Intelligence- He scored a 130 on the IQ test.
Weaknesses:
*Heights- For all of the work he puts in, he purposely neglects aerial moves and counters that aren't ground based. He perceives the risk in these types of maneuvers to heavily outweigh the reward. He will never be found in an advantageous position on the turnbuckles, in a ladder match, etc...
*Size- or lack-thereof, rather. Given his smaller stature, it can be difficult for him to compete against bigger men. He has to out-think and out-wrestle these types of opponents because he just doesn't possess the raw physical strength to throw guys around the ring that are much bigger than himself.
*Weak left shoulder- He injured his shoulder severely once on the docks, and then again in his first attempt at wrestling training- so he's easy prey for anyone who's game plan consists of attacking that shoulder, and he will submit in submissions that target that because it's the smart play.
*Concussion Prone- Which- in addition to his lack of size- is another reason he doesn't like to brawl. He can get knocked a little loopy out there, throwing him off his game.
