Jessé sits in silence for a moment, his face difficult to read. The amber glow of the flame casts a warmth upon his face. His stare moves downward, meeting the ground below. A soft breeze cuts the air, carrying his down-stretched hair across his face with it. He looks up once more, rubbing at the tip of his nose for a moment- an anxious habit he's had since childhood.
He proceeds to say, "Who wishes to fight must first count the cost- that's a Sun Tzu quote from the Art Of War, if you're unfamiliar. And I believe I have, which is why at High Stakes I am going to enter the Roulette."
"This is simply an opportunity I can't pass up- it's too great. Every single one of us that steps foot in that ring, we sacrifice our bodies to become champions. We all want that moment to be immortalized. We want that to be a part of our legacy. If you don't, you're in the wrong industry."
"I'll leave the false bravado and the bold threats of pain and punishment to those of you who believe you're going to talk your way into winning this."
His tone turns more aggressive in nature.
"I let my actions speak for me, though. I have no grand delusions that this is going to be an easy test. I'll go so far as to say I may only score one elimination the entire night- which is fine- if it's the final one of the night that wins the Roulette, and propels me forward to face Warren Kane for the World Heavyweight Championship. I owe myself that moment."
"And Warren, make no mistake, when I win it is you I want to face. You were gift-wrapped a World Title. Congratulations. I know you're saying all the right things, and maybe you legitimately didn't know what happened when it did. One judge of a man is the company he keeps, though, and one look at yours' tells me all I need to know. So I'll happily, and without the slightest reservation, stand in that ring across from you, look you in the eye and pry that title from your waist."
"Then it all comes full circle. The tiny seven year old kid from St. Johns, who used to climb his Dad's busted up ladder and hoist imaginary World Title for imaginary fans will stand in the center of the ring for the largest wrestling promotion in the world, raising a real World Title over his head in front of actual people as he's announced the new World. Heavyweight. Champion."
