It was the first time in Declan's life he had travelled away from Ireland and the United Kingdom on his own. He not long arrived in Houston, Texas, where the PPV was going to be. Declan's in his hotel room, sitting on a chair, looking at the camera with a serious look on his face, knowing he needed to address the audience once more; incredibly, he didn't touch upon the match his school entered him in.
"I didn't forget about being placed in the Roulette Rumble match, which is a little weird first of all, the rumble is taking place in Texas as opposed to being in Las Vegas. This is the first time I've wrestled outside of the United Kingdom. I knew and realised I hadn't touched on opponents, but I did need to introduce myself before discussing how much the match meant to someone like me. Someone who has never been in a rumble match is enough for me to say how challenging it will be to be the last man standing to win the match."
It was a strange situation Declan was in, especially he hadn't gotten used to being in America, but he accepted how it was as he smiled.
"I know many wrestlers know who each other are, but I have heard of some names in the match like Matt Knox and Jason Cashe. Mostly know about Matt Knox because he had wrestled for a British promotion many years ago and who hasn't heard of Jason Cashe at this point? Matt Knox was the first wrestler I saw on the screen when he fought against Dan Taylor back in that Fantasy Wrestling Federation. He was fantastic, and I expect to get that competition from him. Jason has done everything, and I admire him because of his experience. I idolised both Matt and Jason to get in wrestling."
He nodded his head on the truth on his views about professional wrestling and how he got into wrestling. Although there were other names, Declan had heard of since watching bits of Imperial Wrestling Federation.
"I've also watched matches from Leo Hemmingway, who was a lot like what I want to be in a wrestler with his technical skills, the kind of guy I do look up to and looking forward to you proving how many holds you can perform on me because I will aim to target right back. JC Keeton was another guy that stood out in his matches as of late, also a technician and powerhouse wrestler, something I aim to be more about, along with being a striker."
There's a short pause as he takes a sip of water from the bottle and looks severe at the camera again.
"I also became impressed with Ulf Hednir as well. It's fantastic to see someone from Norway, an unknown country for professional wrestling, actually make it. Plus, he's a big dude and accomplished a lot in his time in IWF. So I wouldn't overlook him in the rumble because of his size; it's hard to rule him out as the favourite or how I see things with professional wrestling. I know other guys are cocky, and all think they'll win this match because of their experience. I have none; this is my first professional wrestling match, and I know I'm likely not going to win."
It was a brutal touch to live by for any wrestler to say, but Declan was a realist as he covered his face for a bit and looked intently at the camera after drinking more of his water.
"But I won't allow you to think I won't because while I may know some of the names, it doesn't matter what you've said about me because I focus only on one thing I know I can and will deliver, making sure that I debut with everyone, knowing who Declan O'Connor is. Heck, I'm the first guy in the match that's not officially signed to IWF to enter their name in the rumble or rather my school teachers did because they feel I was ready to represent my wrestling school and feel I'm ready to be a professional wrestler."
He was smirking as he began to feel more confident speaking to the audience for the first time as he always talked to his opponents in their faces. Declan may seem happy, and he was because of an opportunity he was granted and knew he could have his title match.
"Many unknown names in the professional wrestling business have gone to win rumble matches before, and many of them were unknown to professional wrestling. But do you know a fully-fledged rookie to the wrestling business that signed up to the rumble and won? Because it's not about trashing your opponents in this case, it's every man for themselves, and that's what the match should be targetted as. I will make a Diamond Impact and show each of you what this Irish Diamond Technician is all about."
Declan left the camera for a few minutes and got himself a spider he placed on his arm as it crawls up and down.
"This spider, Aiden, is the motivation I need to go out and win this match, along with the support of my wrestling school and knowing this match means the world to the school and me. I will not let all of you think you got me quickly because I'm like a freshman from school. No, I will prove how much of a real deal I am, and I will throw out every one of you because I'm a powerhouse and technical based wrestler. I will use kicks and punches to eliminate anyone I get in the ring with because eliminating everyone is unrealistic. But one thing I'll say is I will eliminate a few people or at least one person in the match and win because diamond technicians always do, and nobody will see it coming."
Declan relaxed before the camera went black.
