This past Thursday, IWF superstar and former two-time World Champion James Gilmore celebrated his 40th birthday by sitting down with longtime editor-in-chief of The Wrestling Insider Norman Asner to discuss future plans following the High Stakes pay-per-view. During the interview, he spoke candidly about the long sabbatical he took from September of last year until his surprise return a few weeks ago. He also confirmed that 2022 will be his final year of full-time in-ring competition, citing several factors including taking precautions regarding his health.
However, it seems that Mr. Gilmore isn't done with professional wrestling entirely. For 2023, he plans on staying in the ring part-time while joining the backstage crew as part of IWF's Talent Relations -- where he'll be tasked with interviewing the superstars of the future.

"Wrestling, other than video games, is something that I've known for a long time. When you pour your heart into something you love the most, you'll start to gain an appreciation for the future the lies ahead. After all, you don't know where this life is gonna take you..." -James on his journey as a professional wrestler.
"Eventually...you're gonna wind up putting new talent over. It's just the way it goes when it comes to this business. Some folks can be frightened over losing 'their spot,' but part of growth means you take a step back and pass on what you've learned to the next bunch of guys and gals. We ain't Sylvester Stallone doing those Expendable movies long after his prime as an action star -- and that's as real of a take as it gets." -James, on his reasoning for starting the Rising Dragons Academy, and subsequently Retro Championship Wrestling, with longtime friend and partner Fiona McFly.
"JC Keeton, Jason Cashe, Max Daemon...these guys are IWF's future. The company will grow through those guys and so many more." -James on Imperial's future, discussing his favorite superstars.
"Being a father, much like wrestling, isn't an easy task. It's as hard of a challenge as it'll ever be. Yet I think being a dad is a way to remind me that I could've had a dull and boring life, that I could've settled for less than what I was capable of bringing into the world. I'm forever grateful that, perhaps, I made the right choice." -James on being a father of twins.
"Spotting talent is my purpose now. When you start bringing people into the wrestling business, you'll know that you've done something incredibly special." -James on helping Fiona bring Caroline Machado into professional wrestling.
"Not everybody succeeds in this life. Not everybody gets to be that big star they've always wanted to be. People often spend their whole lives without being recognized for their accomplishments in whatever field of work they've chosen. Yet they'll achieve something that's much, much more rewarding than putting a belt or plaque into a trophy case." -James' realistic take on success in professional wrestling.
