(Cont. from the Cable Arcane rp, Purpose)
"The purpose of life.. is to live.."
--With those words, the man in the mask pauses to let them sink in. While Cable was speaking, he'd been folding a piece of paper, carefully and precisely. Each crease giving it a definite shape and design. Now, it was a small origami Crane.--
"It's amazing how such a simple concept goes unnoticed. How the harmony of the world goes unappreciated by those who are a part of it. Life itself is a process of cycles. The weak can grow and become strong. The strong can grow old and become frail. But the object is not to simply let time pass and wait for what may happen. The time comes when you need to seize your opportunities as they are presented."
--A motion to the man standing at his side.--
"Cable and I are HonorBound. Honor is a funny concept. People assume that honor means you are 'the good guy', and you always play by the rules. People assume that honor means you are covering for your weakness with a sense of self restriction. Honor, simply means that you do what is right by you, when it is right by you to do it."
--Holding up the paper bird.--
"Like a bird on the wing, flying south for the winter. Life, is cycles."
--Back down.--
"People would see men like Spike Kane, and Rob Diamond and assume they have no such honor. I see two men who have forged their own paths in life, and pushed on to do what is right in their hearts, even when the rest of the world told them it was wrong. Mark Twain once said that when the world is standing against you, and telling you to move from the path you believe in your heart to be true, your sworn duty was to plant yourself like a tree beside a river, and state simply..
No, YOU move."
--A bow towards the camera.--
"They have done so, and for that, they earned a warrior's respect. When the match has finished, should I be defeated, I will bow my head and accept that even though I gave my all, it was not to be. But, remember, knowledge is power. And being careless about not knowing what you do not know, leads only to ruin. Life comes in cycles."
--A pause, the eyes behind the mask stared at the paper bird a moment, then continued.--
"Cable and I prepare ourselves mentally for everything. We understand there are things we do not know, and rather than gloss them over, we seek them out. I look forward to testing the James gang. I look forward to seeing if their bond is flawless, or cracked. As I'm sure they would do the same. A team is as strong as the glue that holds them together, for when you place a collective of individuals to a task, their bindings are merely superficial. That is what devolves into anger and blame. That is what this match will really show. Not who is the strongest, or the fastest, or the best wrestler. But merely..
who holds together."
--The hand holding the paper crane crushed it into a crumpled mess.--
"Because, like life, a team with a weak bond is as frail as this bird. Then, it must be rebuilt. But it will never be the same.
Life comes in cycles."
--The two departed for the ring without looking back.--
=====
This mask is a responsibility..
"I understand."
To wear it, means you carry a legacy of a deeper meaning, something that's greater than yourself.
"This I know."
Only one can wear this, and we do not shirk the responsibility once it is on.
"Never."
Good. Now, you must earn your place.
"Gladly."

{I sat across the table from this man, Cable, I think he said his name was. It's been about 2 hours since we first met, and my casual brush off of him. He'd been offended by it, but that was what I wanted. The man to our right was finishing speaking.)
"It will be hard, it will be brutal. It will push you, it will break you, and when it is done it will have built you into a machine without limits. So that's the deal gentlemen. Are you in?"
Cable: "Yes."
{Though he answered the question, he was staring at me as he said it. I stared right back.}
Gjenrei: "Yes."
{This seemed to satisfy the original speaker.}
"Good. ....Now you boys play nice."
{He exited. He and I continued staring. Now was as good a time as any for real introductions, I supposed.}
Gjenrei: "You don't like me, do you?"
Cable: "Not particularly, not after you brushed me off earlier."
Gjenrei: "Don't respect me."
Cable: "Right."
Gjenrei: "Want to cave my head in."
Cable: "Thought crossed my mind."
Gjenrei: "Good."
{I stood up from the table.}
Gjenrei: "I have to be sure you are strong enough to stand on your own, before I can put any kind of trust that you will be there."
Cable: "That's fair."
{I headed for the door back to the gym. Training for what was ahead, was far from done. To be what we needed to be, we'd need a bond, stronger than any glue. Like concrete.}
Cable: "I expect the same out of you."
Gjenrei: "I would expect or accept nothing less."
{I could feel the cement mixing already.}
