Nick Knight is sitting alone in a small dressing room somewhere inside of the MGM Garden Arena. ‘The Hollywood Butcher’ is sitting shirtless with a towel draped over his shoulders, the welts and bruises from the Joker in the Pack match are beginning to form on his torso. The show was long ago over, the winners gone off to celebrate all over Sin City. Nicky though just sits all alone, still dressed in his geat, because he knows that the second he removes it every single thing he had known for the past twenty-two years would be over.
I’m not going to lie, this is a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. My entire adult life all I have ever known was being a professional wrestler. It has allowed me to make a good enough living that my family lives comfortable, which I sure as hell couldn’t do if I was working to door at clubs or slaving away in some piss factory. I have very few regrets from my life in this business, and the ones that I do have I bust my ass every fucking day to make up for. One of those regrets is not spending more time with my family. I missed so many big moments in my son’s life, because I was out on the road somewhere. Well I’m going to make sure that will never happen again.
A single tear begins to run down his cheek.
There are so many things about this business that I’m going to miss, but the biggest is going to be the IWF fans. You guys are the most intelligent and passionate fans in the entire professional wrestling business. I am going to work matches elsewhere in the weeks and months to come, and I’m sure I’ll see some familiar faces in the crowd, but there is nowhere in this business that has the same energy as an IWF show. It’s that energy that I’m going to miss the most as I move on from IWF.
He wipes away the tear and continues speaking.
That’s the reason I asked a camera man who has been busting his ass all day to bring you the biggest wrestling show of the year to stick around for a little bit after the show is over. I wanted to take the time to record and sincere and heartfelt thank you to the wrestlers that bust there ass to entertain you, the staff that spends countless hours making sure that the show goes off without a hitch each and every week, and most importantly I want to thank you the fans. Without you none of this would be possible.
I also want to say goodbye and maybe I’ll see you again someday. I heard that there’s some kind of cruise coming up and I could use a vacation.
