The scene opens to Ashley in what seems to be her normal cheery mood, especially since winning the Ruby Title a month and a half ago. There’s an overall confidence about her that just wasn’t there when she first started her career in the IWF. A spark was needed and the Ruby Title has proven to be just that. We see the young lady opening her closet and showing off the variety in her wardrobe.
Ashley Mastrangelo: Too be fair with all of you, I have too much stuff as if that wasn’t obvious. It’s funny that I say that though. Think about it…the person I face this coming Monday on Sacrifice has too many of something too…personalities. That’s not what we’re going to talk about though. Honestly, I like that she’s a little crazy. I like the fact that she has an edge to her that many people try to predict and try to figure out. That’s their problem.
She goes through the shirts in her closet and starts pulling them out, returning some while tossing others on the floor behind her.
Ashley Mastrangelo: Some of this stuff, I don’t even wear anymore. Donation time perhaps? Anyway, as I was saying, that’s been the problem this whole time with each and every opponent Eternity has ever had…she’s been inside their head. Her antics, her weirdness, the entire package throws them all off of her game. I’m not going to fall for those funny tricks.
She moves down from the shirts to the skirts and pants on the bottom rack and continues the purge of her closet.
Ashley Mastrangelo: She can be as nutty as she wants with her words of…let’s just say wisdom because honestly, when someone else talks I don’t care to listen. I’d rather go about my business, do my own thing, and let my actions do the talking in that ring. That hasn’t hurt me so far, has it? I mean, what is there really to say here? Am I going to threaten to beat the holy high hell out of Eternity? Am I going to tell her that I’m going to make her crazier than she is? Maybe I’ll just tell her than I’m the Ruby Champion and that fact in and of itself makes me better than her?
She pulls a skirt out and smiles.
Ashley Mastrangelo: I wore this on my first date with Ryan.
She’s quick to hang the skirt back up before turning to the camera.
Ashley Mastrangelo: No, I’m not going to do that either because those would all be empty threats. They would just be words said to be said. I know I can back any of that up because I have the trust and faith in my abilities to do so. I’d rather not waste everyone’s time with bravado because I think it is stupid. Me saying those things isn’t going to make me stronger, faster, more skilled, or more confident, it’s just wasting air. It’s wasting precious breaths in and out of my lungs to make useless points. I’m beyond that…
I’m better than that.

=== Lonesome (PT 1) ===
Everything was going great in my career. I had retained my title and after the show was waiting around to see if Ryan had gotten there. I waited about an hour and then got a text on my phone.
”Just finished our meeting. Sorry I couldn’t make it babe.”
Ashley Mastrangelo: Stupid meeting.
Tossing my phone on the table in front of me I sat there with a sigh and looked at the belt in my hands. I slid said belt over my shoulder and stood from my seat. I reached down and grabbed my phone, and again, this time behind me to grab my bag and headed out the door.
=== Lonesome (PT 2) ===
The company car had pulled into the hotel in Albany and all week I really had a sense of wanting. I wanted my boyfriend to be with me at least one of the days this week, but because of our schedules, it just didn’t happen. As I grabbed my bags from the back of the SUV I walked up the walkway into the lobby where I waited for the attendant at the counter. He came up and greeted me nicely as I nodded. He took my information down and looked up at me.
Attendant: Just one?
Those words took me down a notch as if I wasn’t already sulking about my boyfriend-less situation.
Ashley Mastrangelo: Yeah.
He thanked me for staying and handed me the room key as I headed to the elevator and stepped inside. Alone, I had a moment to reflect.
Ashley Mastrangelo: I knew it was going to be like this. He had his job and I had mine, and those schedules really conflicted. We knew all of that and yet we’re going to give this thing a try anyway. I just…I just wish he was here.
As I sulked some more and waited to get to the fifth floor, I felt a vibration come from my purse.
Ashley Mastrangelo: Hello? Hey. Sorry we couldn’t meet up this week. The promotion will be in New York for a bit. You have to what? Really?
Any happiness, the few ounces that remained, had just evaporated from my soul. I thought that maybe there was the slight inkling that I could see him sometime this week, and now…he’s going to Los Angeles on business.
Ryan Slatts: I’m so sorry sweetheart. I want to see you so bad. I just can’t seem to get away from the job. It’s like all of my accounts are settling out at the same time, and they need me there to do the final paper work and stuff. I feel really bad.
I tried my best to tell him it was okay. The dejection in my voice though clearly told another story.
Ashley Mastrangelo: It’s fine baby. We’ll figure out how to make this work. I mean, if all of these accounts are closing now, that should mean that we’ll have time soon. Right?
Ryan Slatts: Hopefully. I want to drop everything and just fly there and be with you.
You don’t understand you can’t, just how badly I wanted to say: “Then do it.” I felt a tear roll down my cheek as I told him it was okay.
Ashley Mastrangelo: It’s fine. I know how you feel. Like I said, we will figure this out.
Ryan Slatts: Okay. Sleep well baby. I gotta get on the plane.
Ashley Mastrangelo: Al-alright. Love you.
Ryan Slatts: I love you too.
With that my heart sank as I hit “end” on the phone and shoved it back into my purse. The door opened as I looked down at the room key and rushed for the room. I was sad yet angry all at the same time. I wanted someone to hold me and let me cry on their shoulder, yet could punch them in the face in the same instance. As I opened the door I threw my things to the side and slid the Ruby Title off my shoulder, tossing it on the second bed. In one flurry of twists and jumps I jumped into the bed to the left of me and screamed into the pillow, swinging my fists wildly into the once fluffy now beaten pillows. I turned onto my side and felt the tears rolling down my face as was evident by the trail of mascara that carved lines on my face. I cried myself to sleep hoping that soon a better day would come.
====================
We see Ashley walking down the hall of the arena, preparing for her match against Eternity. There’s no interviewer, there’s no nothing. She sits there in a pink tank-top, and tight black short shorts with knee-high black boots on, sitting on a crate in the hall, swinging her legs forward and back as she stares at the Ruby Title in her hands, no emotion on her face.
Ashley Mastrangelo: I hope you don’t think I’m afraid of you Eternity. The long spoken words, the jumbled up phrases and the praising of whoever it is you praise mean nothing to me because I couldn’t be bothered to care. In this business, there’s champions and there’s challengers and then there’s the rest. I have proven myself as Champion and have continued to do so each and every week.
She scoots forward and pushes off the crate with a bit of a bounce as she starts to walk down the hall with the camera following.
Ashley Mastrangelo: Honestly, this week isn’t about me Eternity. It has more to do with you than it does me, but I’m that cute icing on the cake that everybody loves oh so much. This week is the week where you truly get to separate yourself around here. This is where you can elevate yourself to that challenger status and remove yourself from “the rest”. The mind games are there and I applaud you for being able to play them so well. The problem is, there’s no mind game to play on me.
She stops in the hall next to the catering table and grabs a bottle of water from it before continuing on down the hall.
Ashley Mastrangelo: I’m not the same weak little girl who walked through the doors a few months ago with a failed venture in wrestling prior. I’m not the little rookie who was just happy to be on the house show let alone the main card. I inspire to be better. I AM better.
Ashley walks up to a white erase board with the card on it. We’re a day away from the event and Ashley is ready to go out to the set up ring and practice the spots in the match with a trainer who awaits her presence in the ring.
Ashley Mastrangelo: Nowadays Eternity, none of that is enough. Competing is not enough. I’m out to win and I have and that’s why I have this prestigious title over my shoulder. Even that though Eternity, even that isn’t enough. I want more. I have a hunger inside to be better than even this belt says that I am. I have a craving to be the absolute best female wrestler in this and any other company in existence today. I want more and I’m going to get it.
She takes a big swig of the water, about half the bottle, and tosses it to the side.
Ashley Mastrangelo: I don’t want just more for me Eternity. I want more for women’s wrestling as a whole. I want to make it so that when someone sees a women’s match on the card, they’re just as excited as when they see the men above and below. I want us to be more than a “piss break” because right now, aside from a few, that’s all women’s matches are viewed as. I want more for you. I want more for us. I want more…and Monday, we go one step further to achieving that goal for you, for me, and for all the women on this roster.
She takes a step forward and turns to wink at the camera.
Ashley Mastrangelo: And I for one…can’t wait.
The scene fades as Ashley walks through the curtain and heads to the ring for more training.
Ashley Mastrangelo: Too be fair with all of you, I have too much stuff as if that wasn’t obvious. It’s funny that I say that though.
