“In this weather?” Sabin asks.
Jennie steps into the room, and looks at the glass window that leads out to the balcony, and after a couple of seconds of looking…the sun starts to poke through the clouds.
“Ah-ha! There it is! The kids will be fine, Sabey, do you really think that I would risk the health of my two favorite little girls?! Besides… Eddie really wanted to go, and I promised him we’d go when we get back, and we can go see if Dean will let us take Damian, and maybe even Hayleigh wants to go,” Jennie explains.
“Alright, alright. Fine,” Sabin answers.
Jennie turns back toward the door at the same time as Sabin starts moving toward it, and then she quickly shoots a glance over her shoulder, “Oh! I’ll text Adi! Maybe she’ll want to come see–”
“No! I mean…no. That’s okay,” Sabin clears his throat, “She’s probably busy.”
The rest of the world seems to play in the background as Wraith re-emerges, as if watching the world pass through a kaleidoscope. All the way up to the family taking their trip to the zoo.
“Where was I?” Wraith asks.
They click their tongue several times before finally letting out a light chuckle, and returning to their topic, “Destiny! DESTINY! BE! DAMNED! Destiny be damned– for it is not going to tell me that this is not my year to walk out as the Roulette winner. Destiny be damned– for it is not going to tell me that I am not going to walk out of Night of the Immortals as a two-time IWF Men’s World Champion! Destiny be damned– for it is not going to be my barrier this year! Destiny be damned because I am going to break everyone that destiny favors!” Wraith’s tone turns to a growl as the words escape.
“Destiny has taken enough from me. Destiny stopped me from walking out as Heir to the Throne in my first year in this industry… Destiny stopped me from battling earlier for the championship. Destiny took my title! Destiny stopped me, again, at Heir to the Throne! The list goes on of what destiny has taken away from me each and every time, and I will not deal with it taking another thing away from me… That is why when we get into the ring for the Roulette, destiny be damned, because it is not going to be destiny that wins it for me; it is going to be me. It is going to be me that spits in the face of destiny as it tries to do everything in its power to stop me, but it is going to know that there is not a damn thing it can do! When I send each and every motherfucker over the ropes, and get closer to winning the Roulette, destiny is going to know that I am not going to be stopped!” Wraith boldly states.
“Destiny does like to bring people back from the dead, though. Right? The list grows of everyone who uses the Roulette as a chance to come back and take everything that… does not… belong to them. Brother– Dean– how long was he gone before coming back and siding with JC Keeton, and he somehow believes that this is going to be his redemption? Where was he for the company?! What was he doing that was so important?! I was HERE! At every opportunity! When the company decided they needed me– they needed me to show how violent I could be, they needed me to show why we are the best that this industry has to offer, I was there! I was there! Are we going to see the return of James Gilmore for the fourteenth time since twenty-twenty-one, where he is going to give some heartfelt speech about how much this means to him? Is this going to be the year that Spike Kane comes back from the dead?! Roberto Verona already took away my chance at becoming Heir to the Throne, is he going to step up to take away my chance at being the winner of the Roulette? Xavier Cross… Is he going to return and say that he has something to prove to the world? Mike Laszlo? Alex Jones? How many of the greatest hits are going to come back to say that this is their chance to redeem themselves, and to reascend to the top of the mountain.
But while all of you sat at home… I was here. I was here… biding my time… wondering when destiny would finally favor me, and wondering when it would finally see fit to bring the title back home! Where it belongs! Around my waist! When would it come home? Then we have Nick Knight that has been fuck up after fuck up after fuck up; where he thought that he was going to cash in the World Television Championship, and cement his golden run by becoming the World Champion, he fucked up! I– despite everything– have conquered this year. I, despite everything, have become the name to beat… Screw what the universe has said in naming Nick Knight the superstar of the year! I! CONQUER! HE! IS CONQUERED! That is why I am not going to sit and wait any longer…”
Wraith peers forward. The emerald eyes of a tiger in the zoo look toward the invisible figure, as they cock their head one way, and then the other.
“I am a predator. I am a conqueror! And it is time that I stop sitting around– it is time that I stop letting people prepare… It is time that I take what I want. I am taking the Roulette. I am taking the Invictus Championship, and come May: I am taking the IWF Men’s World Championship. And there is not a damn thing any of you can do to stop me.”
END.
