75th Time

"Christ, what is this now the 75th verse which is same as the first now? New promotion and another new-ish start. If I had a dollar for every new promotion in wrestling I'd have quite a few dollars. So many places pop up and they try to their hardest to get off of the ground. Some reach success while others close shop after a couple of weeks. This promotion, the Imperial Wrestling Federation, doesn't have the look of a quick couple of weeks.

No.

This promotion has risen from the ashes of a once mighty promotion that was shut down less then one week ago. IWF is the near re-birth of a once proud wrestling company. The assests, from what I understand, were purchased by IWF so it might be a re-birth. Hell, some might even call it a continuation of NCW's legacy. I've explained in the past in some detail about my history with that promotion but IWF is a fresh start for many of us who were shunned upon by NCW.

Those who where kindly told to ply our trade elsewhere. That doesn't mean I didn't continue to watch the company until last Sunday night. I saw what happened, who beat who, who couldn't beat who because when I heard about IWF and how it was going to purchase those assests and I wanted to pay attention. A Night To Remember was certainly that as I watched it on plane right home from Germany.

Then I got the call not soon there after. First show was announced for this new promotion and I was told I'm in a tag team match. At first I wasn't thrilled until they told me who I was teaming with. That put a smile on my face. This is a mentor/mentee tag team contest on their first show. Pretty impressive, I think, that in only her fifth match that little Tiffany Heafy is teaming with me. Heard she was so excited and nervous that she fainted.

See, Tifa is extended family. Cousin Freya trained her to do this and I've had a helping hand here or there. I know this kid well. Known her since before she was a teenager from training her older sister to wrestle too. Just when you don't think this industry doesn't have a the handprints of a Kane family member on it then just think again. Whether or not you realize it or not, my family has a large imprint on this business regardless of it being good or bad. Professional wrestling isn't based around other families.

Nope.

The Kane family. Tifa is part of the Kane family despite not being blood or married into the family. I've seen this young woman make some wrong choices in her life but who hasn't and the chance to team with this young lady is something she will not take lightly. You know how students always want to impress their teachers. I know that Tifa is ready and waiting for this match on Monday night. She wants to show Freya and myself that she is more than capable of handling herself inside of that ring.

Our opponents? Well, my opponent, Mike Laszlo has a good history behind himself. Double champion back in the old fed wasn't he? One of the few if not the old guy do it. Yeah, he had himself a good time back in the old fed but you have never gotten into the ring against someone like myself, Mike. From what I could tell you're a rather confident young man which I can respect. 

If a man doesn't have confidence in that ring then they're in the wrong sport. So I find it refreshing to see you challenge a match such a my brother on the old Twitter device. Showing off a set balls you have eh? You do know who he is right? He's a man who likes to hurt people, tries to kill them and hell he tried that on me once. Of course he failed and I drove a rail road spike through his hand but we'll go ahead move past that.

For all your success in the old company you never did quite get to the top of that mountain did you? Never able to enter a certain club that not a whole lot of men got to enter. Three times you had your crack at Verona and that World Title back there but you never quite got it done. You might make excuses as to why you failed but let me tell you something right now that I want you to write down and memorize. Keep this with you for the rest of your life.

The greatest don't make excuses.

Those who will go down at the greatest, the most respected in professional wrestling didn't make excuses for their losses. They looked themselves in the mirror before going back to the tape to see what mistakes they made. A man can overcome anything, Mike, if he puts his mind to. I overcame two neck surgeries to be recording right now. After my last match against Lex Sense I went to the doc and he flat out told me either I take six months now or take the rest in a wheelchair.

Obviously decision. People like to point out that I retire a lot, Mike. That I'm a coward. When the tough get going away goes Brad Kane back home. Last two times I left that company were neck related issues. Came back from it twice by some divine miracle. When I look at this tag match we're in on Monday night in Chicago, I look at it this way. The two of us will mix it up, show the kids how it's done before they hop in and show us what they've learned.

I got no problem with you Mike. I like the bravado, I like the ability that I saw and I like that you keep coming back for more. Don't make excuses. Rise past everything that is thrown in your direction, Mike. You got a good future in this business so don't mess it up by saying anything personal.

Packing the day away right now in the master bedroom of my Miami home. Yeah, moved out of Iowa into Miami now. Rather like the warmer weather and such. Packing to fly out to Vegas for a couple of days along with Nina. Friend of ours is having a birthday party so we're heading out there for it. Nina is glowing right now while packing up her suitcase for the trip as she's just going out there later tonight and Friday before leaving on Saturday. I'll be heading to Chicago.

Nina: Really looking forward to this, dear husband.

Brad: Myself as well. Only downside is that bitch ass Hardaway might be there.

I turn to look at the wife who gives me that stern wife look. You know how they do it.

Nina: Don't start anything though. That'd be rude to destroy someone's birthday party like that more so when you're working for the guy next month.

Yeah I got a gig in England next month for this Unsancationed show calling the first night of matches. My cousin's going to be wrestling against a guy so make sure to go ahead and complain about it. A smile creeps on my face packing my wrestling gear. All new by the way.

Brad: Oh I wouldn't. Just saying if I see him and he says something smart I can't be held accountable for what might happen. Asshole tries to be me the past few years of his career now.

Nina: Well its flattering in a way, isn't it?

Brad: More annoying really. As long as he doesn't work where I work we're good. You sure you want to come to this in Vegas though? I know you're having an attack of morals right now.

Nina: Yeah, I want to. Its only for a couple of days. Natalie and Evan will be around to look after the kids...

I stop packing for a moment and walk to my woman. Yeah, my woman. I ringed her. Well more like she wanted to and lets me say stuff like that but you know. Gotta keep it lookin' good.

Brad: You don't want to leave David...

Nina: Not really no.

Brad: I'm sure CJ would understand if you stayed home because of the newborn. I have to go to keep up good business and make connections. That's what wrestling is.

Nina: Connections in case you get fired for being a shithead, I know. Happens more often then it should, you know.

She giggles while I stick my tongue out. I love acting immature around her. She makes it fun.

Brad: Well I'll let him know you're stayin' home.

Nina: I hope he'll understand...

Brad: He will. So what should I do if I get drunk and feel a little frisky?

Nina: You got a hand don't ya? You know the rules, husband, I see lipstick, I cut off your dipstick.

Yikes. Its a good rule though. I give her a kiss on the forehead as she starts to unpack now. I go back to getting my wrestling gear placed into it's duffle bag.

Nina: Plus Freya and Tifa will be out there to let me know if you're a bad boy.

Brad: You know I wouldn't fool around on you. Love you.

Nina: Love you t...

And she's cut off by crying. We both turn our attention to the crying baby boy in the room. My little man, well, third one I guess. Yeah yeah, don't know how to use condoms, super semen and so on. Nina walks over to pick up David before cradling him.

Brad: You know what Jake told me the other day?

Nina: What's that?

Brad: I get women pregnant by breathing on them.

That makes the blondie laugh. I love her laugh. My attention goes back to finish up my packing before looking at the time on my smartphone. Finally broke down and bought one.

Brad: Ah crap, I gotta get going. See you on Tuesday.

Nina smiles and gives me a kiss. I give David a kiss on his forehead. Time to say goodbye to the other kids before going to the airport.
