*Redacted* clutched his mask in his hand as he watched the waves pound upon the white sand shores of Playacar Beach. The full moon along with the lights of the city a few blocks from the beach provided the only illumination, but that was all that was needed. The darkness conveyed a better setting for his mental and emotional state.
*Redacted* closed his eyes, recalling his father's soothing voice and the warmth of his embrace. He remembered the countless times his father had encouraged him to persevere, reminding him that setbacks were merely stepping stones on the path to success. It was in those moments that *Redacted* realized he was standing at a pivotal juncture, one that required him to summon the strength and resilience he had inherited from his father.
*Redacted* could hear his father's voice echoing the words “Si te lleva el diablo, que te lleve en buen caballo”, If the devil takes you, let him take you on a good horse. His father would utter this old saying to encourage *Redacted* to take risks in order to achieve something that seemed almost impossible to achieve. Many times in his life *Redacted* had to take risks to achieve greatness, and even more times in his life *Redacted* saw his father take risks to achieve greatness. Those same risks eventually cost him his life, but in his eyes, his father had achieved greatness.
With these memories, the renewing of his determination had already begun. *Redacted* turned to face his doubts head-on. He knew that success was not measured solely by victories, but also by the strength of character forged through adversity. His father had taught him the importance of resilience, of picking oneself up after a fall and finding the courage to continue fighting for what truly mattered.
Embracing his father's teachings, *Redacted* decided to refocus his efforts on honing his skills and improving his craft. He would return to the training center with a newfound dedication, immersing himself in rigorous workouts, studying the techniques of renowned wrestlers, and would seek guidance from seasoned mentors. He understood that it was through continuous growth and learning that he could rise above the challenges he faced.
Outside the wrestling ring, *Redacted* had always drawn strength from the memories he shared with his father. He revisited the moments of laughter, the words of wisdom, and the unconditional love they had shared. In these memories, he found solace and the drive to keep going, knowing that his father's spirit lived on within him.
*Redacted* had also sought support from his grandmother, Isabella. Her unwavering belief in him and the strength of their bond provided a steady anchor amidst the storm. She constantly reminded him that setbacks were not indicators of failure but opportunities for growth. Isabella encouraged him to trust in himself and the values his father had instilled in him, values of resilience, perseverance, taking calculated risks, and never giving up.
With renewed resolve, *Redacted* would step back into the ring. He would no longer view failure as a reflection of his worth but as a chance to learn, adapt, and improve. Each defeat must become a lesson, a stepping stone toward becoming a better wrestler and a stronger individual. *Redacted* would embrace the quote of the great Nelson Mandela, “I never lose. I either win or I learn.”.
*Redacted* knew his journey had not been without its challenges. In the past, he had faced fierce opponents, physical injuries, and moments of self-doubt. But in those moments, he would close his eyes and hear his father's voice, reminding him to stand tall and face adversity with unwavering determination, and this time and these defeats would be no different.
*Redacted* knew that this sport, just like life was a marathon and not a sprint. Slowly but steadily, his efforts would begin to bear fruit. His skills would continue to be sharpened. With the sharpening and experience his confidence would grow, and he started to notch victories in the wrestling ring, his name and mission would rise. *Redacted* know the true power of his journey, and his eventual rise to stardom, would mean the ability to inspire others through his resilience and unwavering commitment to his father's memory.
He would embrace the role of mentor, or role model. He would reach out to young children who faced similar doubts and setbacks. He would share his own experiences, reminding them that success was not defined solely by victories but by the courage to stand up after every defeat. Through his journey, *Redacted* hoped to instill the same strength, hope, and determination that his father had once given him.
*Redacted* realized that as he continued his journey in the world of professional wrestling, honoring his father's memory would be extended beyond the confines of the wrestling ring. It was about embracing the values his father had taught him and using his platform to make a positive impact in the lives of others. His father's legacy lived on through his resilience, his ability to rise above adversity, and his unwavering commitment to justice and compassion.
With each step forward, *Redacted* knew he was not only honoring his father's memory but also paving the way for a better future, a future where strength, hope, and the power of resilience would prevail.
*Redacted* breathed a deep sigh of relief and confidence when he heard people clambering behind him as they journeyed onto the white sand beach. He shoves his mask into the waistband of his khaki shorts and pulled the tail of his white linen shirt over it. *Redacted* stood to leave the beach, but when he turned he found it wasn’t tourists coming to the beach for a nighttime walk, but instead a group of Caucasian men dressed in suits, making them stand out from the locals.
The man in the middle of the three stepped forward, never taking his gaze from *Redacted*. The tension quickly built and hung thick in the ocean-sprayed air. When the gringo finally spoke, he spoke with the confidence that only comes from unwavering courage and authority.
Hola *Redacted*. Te hemos estado buscando para un rato tranquilo.
~To be continued. ~
I find myself coming into Bloody Assizes in an unfamiliar position, on a bit of a losing streak. I slipped on the banana peel against TJ Alexander at Sacrifice, and before that found myself looking at the lights in another company courtesy of another IWF star Matthew Knox. Those performances are not indicative of the level of competitor that I am. I let myself down with those losses, but even worse, I let my fans down.
How I respond to these losses is what will be most important for my upcoming match. You can't always control what happens in the ring, sometimes you step into the ring with one of the best of all time like Knox. Sometimes you aren’t on top of your game or adequately prepared like with my IWF debut. You can’t win every match, there are two, or sometimes more people competing to win and only one can win. Sometimes losing is out of your control, but you can control how you respond to it.
Everyone eventually falls, some more than others, but you have to keep getting back up after you get knocked down. That's the only way to improve and grow from a loss. I have learned and the knowledge that I gained will be on full display in this three way. It is a good thing that I have learned, because I’m facing two very tough men, and will need all the tools in my toolbox to walk out a winner at Bloody Assizes.
Two Veterans who have more experience in the ring between them than I have years on this Earth. Erik Holland, a man one and a half times my size, and who has held five different world championships. I must ask Erik, if you are so good why did you also lose your world championships five different times? Was success too much for you? Instead of being turned into a diamond from the pressure, did you just crumble? Losing those world championships five times would lead some to say that you did, and will continue to crumble under pressure.
Your fragile mental state, numerous mental illnesses, and numerous head injuries would go hand and hand with crumbling under pressure. Your body may be strong but your mind is weak, and that is the weakness I will exploit. Una mente débil es como un microscopio que manifiesta cosas insignificantes, pero no puede recibir las grandes.
I see only great things in store for my future, and that means that I must break your mind and your body. I know you have the physical abilities to stop me Erik, but I also know I have the physical abilities to stop you. So, it will come down to the mental game, the game planning, the strategizing, and the cold calculations. You may be a human-smashing machine robot, but what good is a computerized killing machine when it has its mainframe ripped from it?
Let us not forget about the other contestant in this contest The Dragon as he calls himself. Another veteran with many miles on his body. Just like Erik, those miles are starting to catch up with Travis. You may have been a Ram Supercharger at one point, but now your engine is blown and your steering is gone. So, how will your broken-down heavy frame deal with the speed and handling of a Porsche like mine?
Dos hombres más allá de su prima que se interponen en mi camino hacia la cima.
Your primes have passed. You reached your career pinnacles long ago, and now you are sliding back down to the bottom of the mountain where future stars like myself will step over you on their way to their own pinnacles. I don’t look at you two as my stepping stones, I look at you two as my launch pad. What I showed against TJ Alexander was patético.
Now it is time I show you two, the IWF, and the whole world what Ultimo Forajido can do. I will not disappoint again, this time I will impress and shock the world when I upset two veterans. Both men have battled many legends, and both men have battled many demons, but they have never, and will never again battle someone like the last outlaw.
I do not mean to sound arrogant but as the legendary Mexican president Benito Juárez said, Aquel que no espera vencer, ya está vencido. He who does not expect to win is already defeated.
I will not be defeated by my own mind like Erik Holland. I will not be defeated by my demons like Travis Levitt. I will soar high, strike fast, give everything I have, and shoot the sure shot that won’t miss, like only I can.
I am the Last Outlaw.
I am Ultimo Forajido.
You may not know me now but after Bloody Assizes, you’ll never forget my name.
