Late at night, the arena is mostly empty and quiet, as Alexandra, Ashlynn, and Mackenzie sneak into the dimly lit space. The excitement is palpable in the air as they make their way to the center of the ring.
“Alright, you two, let's keep this between us. Mackenzie, your dad doesn't need to know about this little late-night escapade.
“Don't worry, Mom, we won't say a word.”
Ashlynn looked over at Mackenzie who started to speak up.
“Yeah, we're pretty good at keeping secrets.”
“Good, because we're going to have some fun and work off some energy before my big match against Khardiata Senghor.”
“Work off energy? How are we going to do that? Are we going to spar Alex?”
“We're going to have a little friendly sparring session. Mackenzie, I know you've been training with your dad and your aunts and learning some moves. Let's see what you've got.”
“You're on! But don't go easy on me just because I'm younger.”
“Oh, I won't, don't you worry. I want to see what you're made of. You’ve got that Strader spirit in you, I can see that every time we’ve sparred. Going easy on you would be insulting to your family's legacy.”
They step into the ring, and Alexandra takes a fighting stance while Mackenzie gets into position. Ashlynn excitedly takes a seat at ringside, cheering them on.
“Let's do this!”
The two begin circling each other, sizing each other up. Mackenzie goes for a quick takedown, but Alexandra deftly evades her and counters with a swift kick to Mackenzie's side. Mackenzie grins, impressed by her opponent's skill.
“You're fast!”
“So are you! Keep those reflexes sharp, Mackenzie. Stay on me when you get me down, don’t let up.”
They continue their sparring, exchanging strikes and holds, each pushing the other to their limits. Alexandra is impressed with Mackenzie's determination and skill, and Mackenzie is thrilled to be testing herself against a legend of the ring.
“Go, Mackenzie! Show her what you've got! Come on, you’ve got this!”
“I'm trying, but she's really good!”
After an intense back-and-forth, Alexandra manages to lock Mackenzie in a submission hold. But Mackenzie doesn't give up easily, using her strength and agility to escape.
“Not bad, Mackenzie. You've got some fight in you. I’m so proud.”
“Thanks Mo.. Alexandra, that means a lot coming from you!”
Alexandra caught what she started to say and smiled.
“You're welcome. But remember, wrestling is not just about physical strength; it's about strategy and mental toughness too.”
“I'll keep that in mind.”
As they continue their friendly sparring, the conversation turns to Alexandra's upcoming match against Khardiata Senghor.
“So, you're facing Khardiata Senghor. Are you nervous?”
“Nervous? Nah, I've faced tough opponents before. Khardiata is a formidable wrestler, but so am I. I'm ready to give it my all and defend my place in IWF. Even then, she’s still new to the company, needs to find her footing. So I know she’ll give it her all.”
“I know you can do it, Alex. You're the best!”
Alexandra laughs softly, shaking her head. She had started to feel like Mackenzie was her own kid. She gave her a nod and started to speak once more.
“Thanks, sweetie. I appreciate the support. Just remember, it's not always about winning or losing; it's about giving it your best shot and never backing down.”
“I'll keep that in mind for my matches too.”
The sparring session comes to an end, and Alexandra gives Mackenzie a pat on the back. Pulling her into a hug.
“You did great, Mackenzie. Keep working hard, and you'll go far in this business.”
“Thanks, Alexandra. That means a lot coming from you.”
Alexandra gives her a wink. With their late-night adventure over, the trio sneaks back out of the arena, feeling closer than ever. They head home, knowing that tomorrow will bring new challenges and opportunities, both in and out of the wrestling ring.
Steps of the abandoned Saint Peter and Paul Church
Pittsburgh, PA
7/29/23 9pm
Camera fades in from black, revealing the dark, eerie ambiance surrounding the abandoned Saint Peter and Paul Church in Pittsburgh, PA. The faint glow of a street light illuminates a figure standing on the Steps. The camera zooms in to reveal Alexandra, her face reflecting determination and a fiery passion as she prepares to share her story with the world. Alexadra starts to speak, her voice unwavering.
"You see this place? This old, forsaken church standing tall in the darkness? It's a reflection of my journey here in Imperial Wrestling Federation - a constant battle against the odds, fighting tooth and nail to prove my worth. Since the day I stepped foot into this ring, I've given it my all, every single time I’ve stepped into that ring. I've fought some of the best, bled, and put my heart on the line. And for what? For what I believed was my chance to be recognized as the undeniable force of violence that I am. But here we are, on the eve of the Bloody Assizes, and I find myself relegated to a dark match, against someone who couldn’t get the job done."
Camera pans out slightly, showcasing Alexandra's frustration as she gestures with her hands.
"But you know what? This isn't going to break me. No, it will fuel me even more! Because I know I've earned my place, I've proven my worth, and I'm not going to let anyone deny me the opportunity I deserve. To face Matt Knox for, Invictus title. Or possibly Brooklyn, for her Women's title - they're all within my reach, and I'm not backing down until I get there. I've faced giants in that ring and walked through barbed wire, emerging victorious against the odds time and time again. The blood, sweat, and tears I've shed are a testament to my dedication, my passion for this sport. My dedication cannot be denied, yet, I walk into this dark match, to what? Push the newbie to a new height? I guess she can use the rub."
Camera shifts to capture the image of the once pristine roof, with its intricate work.
"Look up my career, look at the things I’ve done in the twenty-three years I’ve spent in this industry. Those titles represent what I've fought for, what I've sacrificed for. I want my name etched alongside the greats, and I'll be damned if I let anyone stand in my way. Imperial Wrestling Federation management, take notice - I've more than earned a place on the main card, not a dark match.”
Camera slowly pans around, highlighting the atmosphere of determination surrounding Alexandra.
"July 29, 2023 - a date that will go down in history as the night Alexandra broke free from the chains of obscurity and took her rightful place among the elite. From the Steps of this forsaken church, I'll rise to challenge the entire Imperial Wrestling Federation roster, and I will not rest until I prove that I belong in the main event. For now, I’ll focus on my opponent."
Camera shifts back to Alexandra's intense gaze. She takes the time to pause, thinking over her next thoughts, this time, focusing on her opponent.
"Khardiata Senghor, let me tell you something. I know you stepped into this ring and gave it your all, but facing Zasshu II was just the beginning of your journey. You may have fallen short that night, but I'll give credit where credit's due - you showed heart, determination, and a hunger to succeed. But don't mistake my acknowledgment for mercy. If you think that loss was tough, wait until you face me!"
The fire in Alexandra's eyes intensifies as she speaks with unwavering conviction.
"I've been busting my ass here in Imperial Wrestling since day one, fighting the best, proving my worth, and leaving my mark in their history books. I've faced giants and conquerors, and I've emerged victorious. So, Khardiata, if you couldn't get the win against Zasshu II, what makes you think you'll fare any better against the woman who is willing to make you bleed that will be standing across the ring from you on the thirtieth? I'm not just another opponent; I'm a force of nature, a hurricane of passion and determination. I've earned my place in this ring, and I won't let anyone take it away from me. So, you had better be ready to step up your game because when you face me, you'll understand the difference between a mere setback and a devastating defeat."
Alexandra takes a step forward, asserting her dominance.
"I've seen fighters like you come and go, full of potential, but unable to withstand the intensity of the spotlight. But I thrive in this environment; I feed off the energy of the fans and the pressure of competition. You may have heart, but I have an unbreakable will, and I won't let you tarnish my legacy. Khardiata Senghor, you may be determined to prove yourself, but remember this - I'm the unstoppable force, and I won't be the stepping stone on your path to redemption. If you couldn't get the win against Zasshu II, there's no way you'll get one over on me. This is my house, my ring, and I'm ready to show the world why I deserve to be on the top."
Alexandra looks up at the impending structure of the abandoned church.
"So, Khardiata, if you think you're ready to face the rage of a woman like me, step up and try your luck. But remember, the outcome won't be in your favor because when you step into that ring with me, you're stepping into the domain of a woman who isn’t afraid to bust you open, to end the match!"
She took a moment to pause, recalling the match between her and Terrella.
“Let me tell you a little story about a match I had recently. "You want to talk about toughness? You want to see what it means to fight through pain and never back down? Let me take you back to that fateful night, the night I stood face to face with Stephen Terrella in a barbed wire match. The air was charged with anticipation, and the arena buzzed with excitement. But what transpired in that ring, my friends, was nothing short of a battle for the ages. Barbs of steel bit into my flesh, blood mixing with the sweat that poured from my brow. The pain was agonizing, searing through every fiber of my being. Yet, I stood my ground. I refused to give in, no matter how much pain I was in. The ring became a symphony of suffering, and in that chaos, I found strength. I found purpose."
Camera slowly zooms out, capturing the raw emotion emanating from Alexandra. The streetlight casts a mystical glow over her silhouette.
"Stephen Terrella, a force to be reckoned with, threw everything he had at me. Submission holds that would make most tap out, strikes that would bring giants to their knees - but I refused to break. Blow after blow, I pushed back, unleashing my own fury upon him. At that moment, I knew what I was capable of. I knew the depths of my own spirit, and I knew I could withstand anything that came my way. The match ended in a draw, and some might see that as a stalemate, but I see it as a testament to the warrior that I am. I wouldn't be defeated. I wouldn't back down. That night, I showed the world what I'm made of - an unyielding will, an unwavering heart. And I'm bringing that same fire, that same indomitable spirit, to every match I step into, including the one against Khardiata Senghor."
Camera pans out to reveal the Brothers Of Mayhem on Alexandra's shirt, symbolizing her unwavering dedication to her beloved John Strader. With a cold stare from Alexandra the scene fades to black.
