It has been confirmed that R.A. Marshall, a.k.a. "RAM," has agreed in principle to a unique developmental deal between the Imperial Wrestling Federation and Retro Championship Wrestling, the fledgling independent promotion owned and operated by IWF Hall of Famer Fiona McFly, for at least the next two months pending review. The structured deal allows for Mr. Marshall to retain his pay grade with Imperial whilst giving him proper time to develp and polish his craft.
"RAM is unique," Ms. McFly said at a press conference held last night at the Midlothian Historic Gymnasium in Midlothian, Texas -- the temporary home of RCW programming until renovations to their home base, the Pepsi Sportatorium in Grapevine, are completed, which is scheduled to happen this coming May. "Whilst most people in his age group are often working part-time jobs or studying in college, he has elected to stay in a professional wrestling business that can often be cruel at times, but the rewards go far beyond anything that can be put on a wall or mantle. He will push people, they will push him back, but more importantly? He will push himself to achieve a success far greater than holding onto anything made of gold or platinum."
"As a member of Imperial's Hall of Fame," Fiona added, "I can't stress enough about the importance of carving out your own niche in this business. For me, setting that standard means helping bring others into the field and helping them to explore their potential. I feel as if it's a wonderful way to give back to a profession that's given me so much, that's helped me through some rough moments in my own life. RAM has the potential to learn from those who came before him and pass that knowledge onto the next generaton."
"In this gig, you learn by doing," Mr. Marshall said to reporters later on in the press conference. "I've had a ton of skeletons in the closet because I wasn't exactly the most clean-cut kid out there," he added in reference to his former life of crime as a youth. "Wrestling has a way of challenging you to bring out the best -- and the worst -- parts of yourself."
With a smirk on his face, RAM took a moment to bring out the heel persona he had acquired whilst in Imperial during the first go-around, and said:
"I'll be back in the game before y'all know what hit ya..."
