James Gilmore has now come ffull circle in the world of professional wrestling.
Ever since his retirement in 2023, there had been rumblings afoot that the former two-time IWF Men's World Champion and StrongStyle Champion would be able to find a suitable role backstage. Well, we can confirm that Mr. Gilmore has been added to the IWF preshow panel for the tenth Metamorphosis pay-per-view and other big events from this day forward. He will sit alongside panelists Summer Thompson, Robert Henderson, and Samira Conway as he brings a decade-plus long career to the table, giving his own perspective into the biggest matches and the hottest superstars in the IWF.
During a full-time career that spanned eleven years, one that saw him bounce around the independent circuit before settling in with Imperial in 2016, James has toured the world over and headlined several major pay-per-view events. In addition to the aforementioned titles he had accumulated, James was the recipient of several awards including being named the 2019 Superstar of the Year as voted on by the fanbase. Ironically, JJ returns to doing the very thing that gave him his itch to try his luck inside the squared circle; prior to his full-time debut in 2012 under his former stage name "Johnny Gillmen," James would often work occasional commentary for the Premiere Wrestling Alliance. He had impressed PWA executives with his voice so much that, eventually, JJ would be invited to host a preshow for select pay-per-view events and often served as a roving reporter.
In addition to his on-screen duties with the preshow panel, James will -- on occasion -- join the commentary table for select matches and bring his own insight to what goes on inside the ring. Backstage, he has the additional responsibility of helping the talent scouting department by serving as a road agent, evaluating and giving feedback to prospects who wish to join Imperial's ranks.
